From Peril to Princess

She is also a lonely girl. Played with an effervescent uncertainty and self-protecting bitterness by the stunning Vanessa Kirby, Margaret is a woman wanting love and—despite her drily voiced disdain—conventional happiness. Meetings and conversations take place at various wedding parties, like in Four Weddings And A Funeral , and some scenes requiring an incredibly famous woman to hobnob outside her circle do borrow from Notting Hill.

Princess Margaret is arching her immaculate eyebrow at those-too-cool-to-get-up-and-greet-her when she finds her Manic Photographer Dream Boy. He stares, instead, at the subject before forcing his intrusive personality upon her. To her, this ridiculous man, one who authoritatively slides her dress off her shoulders or makes a show of appreciating her posterior while she looks at him in the mirror, is what she herself wants to be: Goode and Kirby have terrific chemistry.

He conjures up a sort of slithery but undeniable charm as he advances on her, while we visibly witness Kirby—who has the most icy accent on the show—melt under his spell. The two must part ways but Sergio promises to find her when it's all over and the family is safe. I would suggest reading this short 8 chapter book as I'm sure it will add to the series. Princess in Peril Review: Princess in Peril by Rachelle McCalla Reclaiming the Crown Series Book 1 This is one of those series where you will be biting your nails for the next three books to come out.

And if you did not have to hold the book to read you might become a nail biter in this fantastic suspense story. I highly recommend reading the free book, Royal Peril on the harlequin site first as the short prequel definitely leads the way into this story. Princess Isabelle does not trust her new bodyguard. Albert had been with her for four years and now suddenly Levi Granaldo is there. He always wears mirrored sunglasses, even indoors, and he is too good looking. Suddenly their motorcade is under attack and when Levi wants her to leave the bullet proof limo she really has to wonder what he's up to.

With no choice she has to follow his lead and go into the catacombs under Lydia. After more attacks and not being able to trust anyone, Isabelle finally has to trust Levi to get her out of her country. She has a royal duty to stay safe and at this point she does not know if her parents or brother and sister survived the ambush, if not Levi needed to succeed at protecting the Princess. His father would be retiring as President of Sanctuary International, a Christian relief organization to help refugees find asylum, and even though his father favored his young brother, Joe, Levi was hoping his father would entrust him with the position.

He needed to keep his focus on protecting Isabelle and not focus on how beautiful she is, he had always thought so but now that he was ending up in such close situations with her, it was harder to remember that she was not for him. She was a princess, he was a lawyer. They have an unknown enemies, cannot trust anyone, and they don't know if any of the royal family has survived.

Parliament wants to name the next ruler before finding out if King Philip is still alive and Levi and Isabelle are fighting to stay alive while they fight an attraction they each feel towards the other. Looking forward to the next books to find out what happened with the rest of the royal family. Nov 03, Keri rated it liked it Shelves: I received this book for free through Goodreads Giveaways. Sadly, this book didn't live up to my expectations. While the story has potential, I wouldn't consider it suspensful, as the cover says.

There was too much talking and explaining instead of action, though I have to admit, there were really good moments in certain chapters that did live up to the suspense theme. Another thing for me was the romance. It moved too fast in my opinion. Like Levi, the main character, said towards the end of the I received this book for free through Goodreads Giveaways. Like Levi, the main character, said towards the end of the book, he and the princess only knew each other a few days. Going from hate to love in a few days seems unbelievable.

Finally, for two people being chased by insurgents bent on murder, the princess and Levi sure do pray. I know this is an inspirational book, but if murderers were chasing me, I would not stop and pray every few minutes. It seemes like the characters were praying on every single page, just one other thing that put a lull in the suspense and made the book seem a little more unbelievable.

Aug 09, Brandy rated it it was amazing. I HATE when they do this to me. Another Joshua Springs thrift store find, and so glad I did. I now have another favorite author in Rachelle McCalla, and will now have to purchase the rest of the series, the rest of Princess Isabelle's siblings stories on Amazon. Levi Grenaldo Le Sigh! I think this is the most romantic Love Inspired's. Certainly LI Suspense I have ever read! The perfect balance of suspense and romance for me The part where Isabelle watched him shave off his beard Quite steamy for Love Inspired Especially if they're as good as 'Princess In Peril' Dec 12, Carrie Kaut rated it liked it Shelves: Sep 03, John Hanscom rated it it was ok.

It is a shame I have to give this book two stars, as the story is generally exciting. First of all, too much was left hanging for later books Who will reign? What about those generals? But, worst of all, the author needs to fire her editor. Especially at the beginning of the book, there were some real bad "howlers.

A princess who rhymes with peril

Sep 16, Sarah rated it really liked it Shelves: One of the things I love about Rachelle McCalla's books, is that usually, the couple prays together and talks about faith before they ever kiss. This one was no exception. Although the romance is based quite a bit on emotion, the characters share their faith and pray together often. The one thing I didn't like about this book was the villain.

He was intent on getting Isabelle so that he could use her to produce a heir to the throne. Nov 11, Sarah rated it it was amazing Shelves: I enjoyed Princess Isabella's story. I don't often do this, but I read this series out of order. This is the third one I've read in this series, with only The Missing Monarch left to read. This book does leave you in a little bit of suspense, wondering what's going to happen. It made me a glad that I know more of the story.

It won't come to a nice conclusion though until I read that last book. I highly recommend the whole series.

This book has a little bit of it all; love, romance, espionage and murder. Princess Isabelle's family had their royal motorcade blown up, and now she must run for her life to survive. The only person she can trust is her bodyguard Levi, and even that is questionable to Isabelle.

  • Princess in Peril (Reclaiming the Groom, book 1) by Rachelle McCalla;

Trying to figure out who the bad guys are, and who the good guys are gives this book a more interesting edge. While it is a romance book, it's not quite the typical romance story either. Loved this story in McCalla's Reclaiming the Crown series. It was full of action and adventure. Princess Isabelle and her new bodyguard, Levi Granaldo, are in deep trouble.

Peril, The princess of the Skywings.

Her family's motorcade has been attacked and Isabelle fears she is the only survivor. Levi in his attempt to keep Isabelle safe must find out who they can trust. There is just one little problem. He isn't really a bodyguard. He is a lawyer and trying to keep Isabelle safe is proving to be more than he bargained on. Jul 15, Judine rated it really liked it Shelves: She followed her instincts throughout the book and this endeared me to her.

Serge seemed to be a very ethical and compassionate man who cared very much for the well-being of his people.

Princess in Peril

Together they make an awesome pair. Once again our narrator, Melanie Fraser has done a magnificent job of bringing this story to life. She really is extremely versatile. Would you consider the audio edition of Princess in Peril to be better than the print version? Not having read the print version I don't feel that I am suitably qualified to give an opinion as to which is better.

Post navigation

I can tell you however, that this is an expertly narrated tale with perfect clarity of tone, expression and diversity in character voice. What was the most interesting aspect of this story? I enjoyed the gothic feel to the story. Lynn and her patient were isolated in a country mansion in Yorkshire and the people she worked for were suitably creepy which added to the atmosphere. Which scene did you most enjoy? I enjoyed the scenes where Lynn was slowly discovering that things were not as they seemed at the mansion and that she was looking after no ordinary patient.

The story took many exciting turns as the pair made their escape. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? This is not a long book.

I enjoyed listening to it in one sitting. I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via AudiobookBlast dot com.

Would you listen to Princess in Peril again? I listened to this while on vacation and it was the perfect book. The story line was fast paced and fun. Spending some time trying to figure out why Lynn was hired and the creepiness of her new boss kept me listening. As the story went on, I really enjoyed the strength of Lynn keeping right up with Serge on their escape.

Melanie Fraser did an awesome job narrating with a great flow to the story.

More from the same

This was just enough suspense, love, and adventure to keep me listening and completely entertained.
