The reading is fast paced, as usual with a Cussler work. The story a bit implausible, but that makes it more fun. Lots of action, lots of twists and turns just like you expect from any of his work. Sam and Remi will need all of their education, all of their ingenuity and help from Selma and the team back home to pull this adventure off and not only find Alton but discover what King is truly after.

Because we all know that King has not given them any of the details they truly need to find Alton nor finish the task at hand. Does, King's father still exist? Is he on the trail of discovering an airship from ? Did Alton learn more than he should and thus was disposed of? Are the evil siblings going to really have any say in what happens?

And will the fact that King turns out to be a German by the original name of Kronig add any twist to the adventure? I highly recommend this as one of your top Summer Reads. The Kingdom, the 3rd book of its series, brings the audience a new and exciting adventure that is entirely different than the prequels. In 24 hours, I was done with the paged book and was utterly amazed. Nonetheless, it was not his best writing. However, while doing investigations and researching about the oil baron's father, they find that there is something much bigger to the plot, and something that could change history.

While the story is fiction, the book goes through various points of true history and myths that I found intrigued by it. Although the story line was interesting, my only and one negative about this book is that the ending was rushed. In spite the ending making perfect sense, there was little conclusion and diminish to the excitement that the storyline built up. Even though I rarely read the prologue of books, I found that especially during this book, the prologue gave really mind-thinking thoughts that made connections to the concurrent plot of where I was reading.

Be sure to read the entire book, from start to end. Clive Cussler is a favorite author of mine, so the faults of these first three books in the Fargo Adventure series must lie with the co-author, Grant Blackwood.

While the story was good, the characters in story have such cardboard personalities, it's rather boring - like watching paint dry. Getting to know and understand the characters is something the author doesn't all Like the first two, I have found this book to be seriously lacking in detail and deliverance, as well as believable plot line.

It lacks the last three stars for disallowing intimate knowledge about the primary characters, the secondary characters, and mission they are on what the heck made them become so involved?

After getting their friend home, the Fargos could have simply walked away. WHY did the keep going? WHAT was driving them? The author does not explain certain things which simply leaves the reader stumped. How did Karna know how to open the box, and how did he know there were discs in them? How did he know there were chemicals there that would turn the disc into an unidentifiable lump of gold? The Fargos obviously have enough money to buy all the handy gadgets listed in the book; why go with such a low-grade point-and-shoot camera?

One of the flights they took leaving from San Diego, CA was said to be 36 hrs or there abouts. I Googled it and found even with delays the flight should have been about 19 hrs. There is a ton of non-factual data in this series the rating them two stars is very generous, indeed! In the course of their search, they will find themselves in Tibet, Nepal, Bulgaria, India, and China. Blond twins have sinister Asiatic features from their Dragon Lady mother. Seriously, people refer to her as "Dragon Lady". Terry and the Pirates is a long way to go for a descriptor.

This is a very fun read, nothing heavy, just literary enjoyment. Cussler and Blackwood have come up with a winning combination. I liked the way it started, with the Sentinel racing away with the chest with the Theurang in it, and how it tied with the present. Having been prepared for the absurdity of the indestructible incredible Fargos by the book 2 in this series, I found Kingdom to be more fun. Once I knew not to expect any top notch writing, once I was ready for the silly caricature like characters and mindless action adventure, this was in fact kind of fun.

What I like most about the series is the historical research and the spectacular geographic locales. This time it's mostly Nepal, Tibet and wvwn why not Scott Brick does a go Having been prepared for the absurdity of the indestructible incredible Fargos by the book 2 in this series, I found Kingdom to be more fun. Being a historical fiction fan, I enjoyed the historical basis of his books, yet the sheer ridiculousness of all the situations and how they could get out of each one was just annoying.

It was basically like reading a movie. But, that is his style. Hardy Boys type heroes but all grown up, with a hint of jamesbondish charm expensive toys like cars, boats, planes, and women, and fancy drinks, and exotic locations , with a bunch of old-fashioned super villains, and a nice amount of science.

Among the several problems I have with The Kingdom is that I have no idea what the Fargos look like; so, I cannot care about them. Nowhere in the book is there any description of either Remi or Sam Fargo, the hero and heroine. The closest I found was a reference to Sam The Kingdom, the third novel in the Fargo series by Grant Blackwood, under the name of Clive Cussler, is a non-thriller full of coincidences, superficial writing, tedious plotting, grammatical errors, and numerous inconsistencies. The closest I found was a reference to Sam being a few feet taller than Remi. I have no idea how old they are, their height or weight, their hair color, their body shapes, or any unique physical qualities, except that Sam had some judo training.

Save for a few lame, wise-cracking jokes, they are mirror images, with no individuality. Sam and Remi irritatingly do a tedious amount of name dropping: Such obvious product placement occurs more and more in the works of other writers: I wonder how much Mr. Cussler is making from such product placements, which detract from the storyline, such as it is.

The story is amazingly simplistic and boring, focusing on the search for a Golden Man; precisely what that is, is revealed in the final four pages of the book, and is a considerable letdown, given all the energy expended to obtain it. There is an immediate problem with the opening prologue, a Cussler device; it is set in a non-specific time.

Cussler used to date that time frame, but not here. What happens in the prologue The search for the Golden Man begins, for the Fargos, as they are involved in one of their treasure hunting adventures. A ruthless billionaire, Charles King, hires them to find his missing father. Of course, we know that all that is a smoke screen for something else. The companion--later we learn his wife--is a seeming automaton, coldly ruthless in her actions.

She also has spawned, with King, two equally ruthless offspring. Speaking of the ruthless King, the mastermind behind the plot The word, sequel, comes to mind.

At any rate, the book is also riddled with many unanswered questions. On page , mention is made of Sam Fargo's background, but we are given no details. On page , Sam sets up a belay over a river, something which could be an exciting read for the reader; instead, we only told that it happened. On page , after struggling more than two miles in the mountains of Nepal, Sam and Remi are able to climb a foot stone staircase in under two minutes; they must be nearly super human!

This curious treatment of details occurs in various places to which the Fargos travel. On page , we have the first genuinely well-written description of any location, about a third of the way though the book. There are also many impossible plot elements.

On page , Sam is able to find the right vine which will help him and Remi descend to the site where the antiquities are being stolen. Keep in mind, it is night, and they are hidden in a stand of trees. In terms of how the dense underbrush is described, I doubt that the Fargos would have found a vine in daylight. On page , Sam and Remi are in a single-engine Piper Cub; on page, the engines plural begin winding down.

The Fargos had been to Nepal on two previous trips; yet they appear to be ignorant of much of the small kingdom. Surely, he would know about the iPad. On page , Karna has perfectly calibrated GPS units; he knows his technology. His technological divide seems to shrink and widen when convenient to the story.
