It is a highly readable text, and an easy one fo teach from in class. The content balances strict chronology with good topical coverage and depth of coverage. I believe the book has one of the best structures and provides just enough social history but remains focused on the course of key events and persons. This book has such a great variety of online resources for the instructors and excellent online supplementary materials for the students. It makes my job much easier, knowing that as i advance through time in my class lectures, students can follow along in the textbook in a logical sequence with the much appreciated timelines in each chapter.
