He's not looking to change her back to, instead, he's looking to show her life and what it feels like to really live it. Asher has a couple secrets of his own. One's he is terrified to share. After spending weeks together, they both share their demons, only Asher doesn't share all of his.
What he holds onto has the potential to change everything. I cried is an understatement.
Buy for others
I wept might scratch the surface. The tears I shed for Asher, for Kate, they were really for me. This book will gut you, no doubt about it. However, it will heal you. It will change you. It will hopefully change your thought process. The range of emotion that Ms. De Jong creates is insurmountable, but so very worth it! Please be advised that this isn't for the faint of heart. I would also say, if you're a crier; don't read this book at work or in public. Unless of course you have no shame, then by all means; go for it!
When it Rains is a beautifully sad tale of young woman who is coping with a horrible event that changed her. It's moving and emotionally devastating. While I get it now, it frustrated me while reading the book. When it Rains is a book I would recommend to New Adult readers who enjoy a good ugly cry.
There are situations in this book that would not be suitable for younger, immature readers. After finishing When it Rains, I downloaded the novella that comes after it in the series. After the Rain is a continuation of Kate's story. I felt like it was actually a better end to her story than the ending in When it Rains. The added story was what I needed to for the story to be amazing. If the two had been combined, I would have given When it Rains the complete 5 stars.
