Leave a comment Hugh Parizeau. At press launches shops show you all the new products that they are going to be selling the autumn and winter and Lakeland were also showing all the food gifts that they will be selling that year too. I was being shown around the launch by the lovely Lakeland PR , Kelly. One of their newest designs was a sandwich cake tin that has a form in the middle that lets you have tons more cream filling in the centre.
I HAD to meet her. Now I should just make it clear at this point that I have met quite a few celebrities in my time. But let me tell you, meeting Mary actually made me nervous. I only have to look at a cake and I put on 3lb! Mary Berry's baking bible is just that, a bible to keep going back to again and again.
I have baked lots from the book, the victoria sponge comes out perfect, the chocolate fudge is now my signature cake for the grandchildren, love it!!! Dec 30, H rated it really liked it Shelves: Beautiful photos of Mary in her garden and kitchen enhance this recipe book which is really more of a coffee table book than anything else though the re are some great recipes. I admit I use this less frequently than Mary Berry's traditional recipe books, but it makes a lovely present.

Easily to follow recipes and I recommend the banana bread and lemon drizzle cake. Sep 03, Shaun rated it it was amazing Shelves: This is an excellent recipe book. I have tried six recipes out of it so far, three cakes, two tarts, and one cookie, and each recipe turns out exactly as it should, the first time.
This is a must-have if you are looking to up your baking game. While I have no intention of ever baking a single recipe from this book, it was a very enjoyable read. It was clear and straight forward and definitely in Mary's voice. The only thing that would have made me enjoy it more would have been more photos of the finished products. But I didn't deduct any stars for that because it is Mary Berry and she is adorable. Mar 03, Johanna rated it liked it Shelves: Mary Berry is a year older than my gran and the thing is, that kind of shows. The recipes and methods in this book do sometimes feel very different from what younger cookery writers tend to come up with and I'm not sure about her more regionalised recipes - I've already seen Scottish bakers get up in arms over her use of semolina in shortbread
