Her interests, which include health promotion among minority groups, explore the crossroads between cultural understanding, religious experience, and mental well-being. They have inspired Spiritual Psychiatries , an exploration of Indian mental health traditions and their relevance for patient care in global multicultural populations.

Laila Howard is an author, yogi, dancer, and spiritual teacher. Upon graduating from Spelman College, she danced professionally as a ballerina for 6 years. It was within those years that Laila awakened to her life's purpose.

She discovered her passion for inspiration, and was immediately moved to inspire and guide others toward their spiritual growth. So she proceeded to tailor her dance classes to themes of spiritual growth and self-empowerment. As a yogi and yoga teacher, Laila intensified her lessons, later transforming them into her first book, The Fairytale Within: Understanding Your Creative Power.
