First I would just like to say how much I love this series. This is a re-read for me and even though I know how it all turns out I experience all of the tensions and emotions that permeate this book. Now Sarah has been returned to him, he has a beautiful prosperous ranch, and his sons working beside him.

However, tensions and foreboding feelings shadow every move Caleb makes.

The population has exploded with displaced Southerers, criminals, and schemers all vying for the free land and bringing with them anti Indian Sentiments. Byron Claussen rears his ugly head once again threatening to destroy Caleb and Sarahs life. The need for independence from Mexico blows up and Caleb finds himself again in a white mans war. Through it all there is Caleb and Sarah's love that endures all. I have given this five emotional stars for the sheer ejoyment of going along with Caleb and Sarah as they fight for each other.

Excellent book Excellent book for the first time I turned the page could not put it down. Excellent read Love Miss Rosanne Bittner's stories and this one is one of her best. Book two in a trilogy and the story of the Sax family just gets better with each book. If you love romance and survival get to reading.
