Stop the Presses! (SpongeBob SquarePants)
It makes me giggle and helps me wind down after being at work all day. So, no, somethings don't make sense--like building a fire underwater or the fact that there is a lagoon that people could drown in, even though it is already under water, but geez it's make believe. I understand that people find it annoying, but even my husband has started sitting down with me to watch. It's a completely harmless, silly cartoon--and if kids don't know the difference between reality and a cartoon, perhaps it's time someone explained it to them!
Helped me decide 6. Had useful details 5. Adult Written by ImSpidey2 May 24, It's getting too popular now. I love the first three seasons, but it's getting really bad now. I hate toilet humor or anything including it, and this show is no exception. It's getting too popular and it should've cancelled after the movie.
I know Nick would die if that happened, but it's for the best. Adult Written by cherry October 21, Teach your kids early on Really parents? I grew up in the nineties, I watched classic Nick shows as well as Spongebob. Now I am going to college to be a teacher. Sometimes you can stuff your kids brains with positive messages but they won't always turn out happy sunshine's because there's a pesky thing called reality and reality doesn't work that way as in kids shows.
Spongebob mixes general sillies and jokes with real world problems. The words 'idiot' and 'stupid' will always show up in the real world. You can cover their ears all you like but they will hear it sooner or later. Watching Spongebob gives parents a great opportunity to teach children what they will face when they get older. Name calling, disappointment, those annoying friends, pesky neighbors, losing jobs, getting crushes etc. Like another review said it's a perfect opportunity to sit down with your kids and explain this things.
Not to mention Spongebob general quirkiness will grab the attention of any young child and despite him being sometimes oblivious many kids can relate. Helped me decide 4. Had useful details 6. Adult Written by EllieC April 2, Nothing good here I let my son watch this a couple of times when he was little 3 or so and immediately decided it wasn't a good choice.
No educational elements and the characters model some behavior we wouldn't allow in our house. There is really nothing of value in this show for young kids. My oldest is 5 now and although he may occasionally watch at a friend's house, we still don't let him watch it at home. Read my mind 8. Adult Written by cozens June 2, Spongebob 90's or Spongebob Now? I have a love and hate relationship with this show. SpongeBob is one the most popular shows in the world but does popular mean good?

He's a cute little sponge who is a fry cook and has a colorful bunch of friends. However, the recent episodes I'm talking up are really obnoxious. The stories seem more bland and repetitive. The dialogue seems dumb down and every frame seems to be on sugar rush its way too fast. I would rate this show more on a obnoxious level than anything and what your child takes from the show. If your child is already bouncing off the walls I would stray from this or nick in general, PBS is always a fine choice! Its slower, its witty, and you can watch it your kid and maybe share a laugh instead of pulling out your hair with the recent episodes.
The quality of the show has declined over the years and I am basing my rating 4 stars entirely on the first two seasons. Helped me decide 8.

Stop The Presses Spongebob Squarepants (soft Cover) #8
October 28, []. November 7, []. November 30, []. The everyday life of Arnold, a 4th-grader in a nameless city that resembles Brooklyn, New York, who lives in a multi-racial boarding house with his grandparents and a motley assortment of neighbors and friends. The offbeat adventures of Courage, a cowardly dog who must overcome his own fears to heroically defend his unknowing farmer owners from all kinds of dangers, paranormal events and menaces that appear around their land.
The character-driven cartoon chronicles the nautical and often nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob, an incurably optimistic and earnest sea sponge, and his underwater friends. Dwelling a few fathoms beneath the tropical isle of Bikini Atoll in the sub-surface city of Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob lives in a two-story pineapple. Instead of taking the logical approach to everyday challenges, SpongeBob approaches life in a wayward and unconventional way.
Whether searching for the ultimate spatula to perfect his burger flipping technique at the Krusty Krab or just hanging out with his best friend Patrick an amiable starfish , SpongeBob's good intentions and overzealous approach to life usually create chaos in his underwater world. Spongebob Squarepants is a sea-sponge. He is shaped in a rectangle, and is in the form of a common household sponge. He lives in a pineapple under the sea, in the town of Bikini Bottom.
He is often found to be annoying his cynical neighbor Squidward, the grouchy Clarinet playing squid next door, who definitely thinks the sea is half empty. Next to Squidward is a large rock, where dwells a starfish with about as much intelligence as his home-sweet home. He is Patrick Star, neighbor to Squidward, but lifelong friend to Spongebob.
Over yonder lives a 'land squirrel' by the name of Sandy Cheeks. Her hobbies include the search for the 'Hay in the Needlestack', to biking in the Industrial Park. On the subject of the Krabby Patty, that brings us to the esteemed Sheldon Plankton, arch-rival to Mr. Krabs, and generally very evil. His constant attempts to steal the Krabby Patty make for very funny episodes.
