The balance between spooky tension and comic relief is just right. I n fact, the real laughs come from Coyle's mesmerising performance. As the governess, he switches from a sort of prudish stoicism, capturing the sexual repression of the era, to glorious moments of high-camp.

This, surely, must be the first time a governess has kept the ghosts at bay by getting down and dirty to the sounds of US pop star Selena Gomez. One imagines Henry James would be nodding along approvingly. T his innovative, skilfully executed piece of horror-comedy had me chuckling all the way home — then scrabbling for the light switch in the middle of the night.

Feb 15, Rosebud rated it it was ok Shelves: Zara Tuari, a shapeshifter with ancient bloodline origins, trespasses into Black Moon clan territory to seek asylum. The alpha, Cole Sheridan, has promised that any who make it to the dias are guaranteed sanctuary status.

Alpha Sheridan is a man of his word so when a black panther requests sanctuary and subsequently collapses he's honor bound to grant it. The problem is the mystery of what and who the female is running from and if her presence will result in his pack having to go to war. First of Zara Tuari, a shapeshifter with ancient bloodline origins, trespasses into Black Moon clan territory to seek asylum. This book is listed as being a 96 page read. There is no way this is possible as I read this in less than 15 minutes.

My guess is that maybe it's a 20 page read, tops. This short length read premises sisters who are being sought after. Their parents, prior to being murdered, fostered them out to different parts of the world in an attempt to protect them. This is the first story.

Not sure if Zara is the eldest sister, where she's been living, or really anything much more than the bare bones factoids. Just that Zara comes to Cole and offered herself to him as his mate if he agrees to find and save her other sisters.

The problem with short length reads are that the author has a very limited ability to create the world building while featuring the core character relationship. This is the case here.

Women have been fighting to become the alpha's mate in his own pack. Women in all shapes and sizes and loyal to the pack and Alpha. There would have to be very convincing evidence that a stranger not of his own pack or species would appear and the Alpha sets aside all others to claim HER. So not the case here imho. I do realize there is info that backed up the potential that mating would create an awesome political partnership and that's pretty much what I felt.

No romance or sexual soul mate slant - just an advantageous marriage of convenience or whatever you want to call it with a goal of joining as allies. As to the adult content. The one solo scene was a bit steamy but there is no adult content or erotica. I include this information if you as a reader take that into consideration in your reading tastes.

My last vague non spoiler opinion about the story from beginning to climatic ending: I am giving this book only three stars but given the fact that I got this book from Amazon if it ever gets re-edited I may change that, since I will most likely read this one again. Zara is running for her life to claim sanctuary with the Blue Moon Pack and she seems in a hurry to get help to save her sisters you get her sense of urgency in this but with her mating with Cole the sense of passion is missing.

I did enjoy this story but I think it needs some more editing, primarily in the spelling d I am giving this book only three stars but given the fact that I got this book from Amazon if it ever gets re-edited I may change that, since I will most likely read this one again. It was such a great plot idea I really feel like there could have been enough detail to make a full length book. That being said it was still a good read and I hope to see some more detail in the next book in the series because I would really like to know more. If you are looking for a good quick read Queen of Wolves is recommended. This would be great for I liked the idea of this story and I enjoyed the characters but it was painfully short and in some spots it felt like I was missing pieces.

I did not find any dull, force myself to read parts. I wish it was longer. Zara is tough and has more power and strength than initially seen. I have heard of werewolves, of course, and house sized werecats. And people who are one or the other. Through my lack of imagination I failed to imagine large cats, and being a multi-were. I liked seeing that explo I received this book as a goodreads firstreads prize. I liked seeing that explored.
