This book rings to us like the real thing, demands nothing of the reader except willingness to seek and find a personal spiritual solution. A well worthwhile read and very accessible thanks to the efficiency of the folks at Amazon. The Power of Now: Both books were suggested to us by dear friends who have traveled their own respective spiritual journeys.

I remember thirty years ago watching Joseph Campbell on tv interviewed by Bill Moyers. Joe said that at some period in Christianity a spiritual director would give to his novice a short spiritual phrase or sentence to repeat throughout the day and night.

Often this would be a saying direct from jesus. But it had to have a meaning for the novice. It made sense to me. But I never followed through on it. Actually Joyce Meyer makes use of this in her teachings. But joel uses this exercise as a way to enter the kingdom of heaven. To joel and many mystics including not only Christian mystics but Buddhist as well such as thich nhat hanh and new thought teacher eckhart tolle the kingdom can be experienced here and now.

Since I try to follow jesus teachings and joel teaches from the Christian perspective, I bought this book. I only have the last twenty pages to finish. I am very pleased with the simplicity and ease that joel writes. Yes already I notice a peace that was not there before. I have done contemplative meditation as taught by father thomas keating but find Joel's instructions more akin to my understanding of jesus teaching.

I will be buying more of Joel's books. I've been reading Joel Goldsmith since the 70's. My favorite quote, " However if we can just get the perspective of The Presance, then God is not someone to pray to, but a depth of awareness and energy to pray from.
