How could Sunday keeping be a part of the New Covenant? You just stated that nothing could be added after the death of Christ. Now note the following words from Luke that could not be written any clearer that he wrote more than three decades after Jesus died on the cross. Those with itching ears 2 Timothy 4: That is half a lifetime for many and there is no way Luke would not have known. You would obviously be misleading the reader if this was not the case.

This should require no explanation but I have stated the obvious here due to someone who thought this sounded like a good excuse to avoid loving obedience and quality time with their Heavenly Father. Jesus not only kept the Sabbath but He did not change it in any way during His life and ministry, and since it cannot be changed after His death then we find the Sabbath in the New Covenant proven by it being kept after the cross. But not only that but we are told it was kept according to the Commandment after the cross.

If, as he also insists, all Old Covenant law was then abrogated along with physical circumcision at the institution of the New Covenant, then I guess it's all right for us to murder, steal, commit adultery, worship idols, and violate all the other provisions of the Old Covenant. There is no law, none of us have sinned, and we don't need a saviour -- right, Anthony? But of course, the other old argument comes in: If a law is re-stated in the New Testament, then it is valid for Christians today.

The Sabbath is supposedly never restated, so it is "done away. When Christ said to His disciples in John I'm sorry, but I don't read that. Surely Sir Anthony has read Heb. Is it possible that there might be a bit of selective believing going on here on Sir Anthony's part? Sir Anthony Buzzard has written some insightful works at times, but this is not one of them.

This book lacks the Scriptural basis and Hebraic context to support the author's premise. This is just another example of repeating the age-old anti-Hebraic arguments against Jehovah's covenant established at Mount Sinai. Nothing in Scripture resembles anything annulling the Sabbath or God's Law of perfection and truth! Look at Psalm Yeshua brought the teaching of a renewed covenant to believers while He was a Torah-observant Jew honoring God's Law which includes keeping the Sabbath!

It wasn't different than what He lived! So, according to the author, we throw out what God ordained by His very breath? Why can't we see that He wants us to walk in His ways, not ours? Look carefully at verse 19! You missed the mark. Buzzard is ignorant of Biblical Hebrew and history of the church and how the church moved its belief system away from our Jewish friends.
