The Bride Wore White (The Captive Bride Series, Book I)

I did like her, but I haven't quite figured her out yet. Is she that stupid or that naive to get involved with Him? Or is it the case of "curiosity killed the cat"? Was he that good of a manipulator that made her completely lose her mind? I don't hate her, but I don't love her either.

But I'm curious to learn more about her. Not a prince charming. He is controlling, possessive and manipulative. There is not a lot of information about him. Almost everything you know about him is based on rumors. There are quite a few interactions between our two main characters, but I can't shake off the feeling that author withheld a lot of information on purpose, to keep a reader guessing, but interested enough to keep reading it.

I do hate him at this point, because of what he did to her, how he treated her. At the same time, I feel that there is more to him than it was revealed in this first installment.

Or at least not yet. She is not in love with him and he is not in loved with her. She might be addicted to him, but it's hard to say how he feels about her. She - because of good sex? He - she is easy to manipulate? I have to read the next installment to find out. It was very descriptive, that was what made me cringe more often than not. A lot of erotic scenes with a decent plot. I liked that story didn't start with the dirty stuff right away. We got to know her a little bit first.

Things I didn't like: I'm so over them. At the same time, the money allowed him the freedom to do things he wanted. I imagine it would have been hard to kidnap a woman if he only could afford a bicycle. Was the money that got her to go on that first date with him? Tells me nothing about what this book is about.

It feels like someone just chose a random picture of a naked woman, just because it's erotica, and because the book needed a cover. She did wore withe, but what that have to do with anything?

A woman reminisces about the man who was her greatest love and her most crushing disappointment, on the very day of her wedding, which is a few hours away.

Tellingly, instead of looking with excitement towards the future with her gentle, understanding fiance, she aches and agonizes over the enigmatic Victor Draven, as dangerous and aggressive as he was handsome and charming. A very good erotic novella albeit two of my pet peeves lessened my enjoyment. One, some editing oversights, and two, an abrupt cliff hanger. Still, a highly enjoyable story or rather a prologue to a series. This is dark and it only gets darker with the next two volumes, which I have already read. Kidnapping, imprisonment, dubious consent, spanking, etc. Yet, it did not take me outside of my comfort zone. The author did a good job of developing the characters and giving insight into their internal struggle. Though Victor was domineering, I never got the feeling that he debased or hurt her.

And Tempest, the impossibly named heroine, was tougher and more in control than a mere, passive victim. The last segment was published in , leaving the series incomplete and I have no idea if the author is planning to continue. So let that be a warning to readers who will be understandably frustrated to buy into a series where no conclusion has been provided. This ends with Victor taking her away from her wedding just minutes before it is scheduled to start and it leaves the story on a cliffhanger as to what happens to these two next You have to buy the next installment to find out. The writing was excellent but I didn't like it was a part of a bigger story given in installments. Mar 04, Magen rated it really liked it Shelves: What did I just read? Tempest is a naive young college student who gets swept up in the excitement that is Victor, the millionaire campus stud.

However Victor is dark, really dark. Like a pure sadistic, sociopath. This could be an upsetting book for individuals with abuse histories, so take note. I look forward to book two as this ends on a massive cliff hanger. Mar 24, Olivia Bienko added it.

I waltzed beautifully with my father who returned a bow to my groom a few minutes into the waltz. We were the prince and princess of the ball, and anything we did would charm the guests. Hours later, the princess found herself tightly locked in the bathroom of a honeymoon suite trying to decide how to make her grand entrance.

If I had it to do over again, I would claim the room for myself and lock him in the bathroom to decide when and how to enter! Was it too soon for the lacy negligee? Should I put my hair up? Will it seem too vain to freshen my make-up? We had not discussed lights In the end, I opted for the modesty and the vanity.

And hoped the lights would be low! We had made it through the maze of temptation and now a warm and comforting Presence was with us assuring us that this covenant into which we were about to enter would be blessed. And the blessing was more than we had hoped for. The Decision to Wait. How did we make it? God knows that I was not perfect. How did I wait for the wonderful gift of being one with a man I so tenderly loved? I am going to share it all with you.

It includes seven special secrets that gave me the strength to make it through a lot of temptation. Saying no to worldly lusts. It all started with the truth of Titus 2: In all of your love for God, you could be blind-sided by worldly passions. I know these worldly passions exist, but I know the only way I will be able to say NO is if you teach me!

If you didn't go to class, your teacher could not fill you with all of the knowledge that he or she had to share.

The God of the universe can't teach you either, unless you place yourself in His presence. I have been praying for you. I want so desperately for you to stand before God and to request for Him to teach you to say no to worldly passions so that you can live a self-controlled, godly, upright life. You cannot attain purity all on your own. I cannot unveil to you some formula of protection.

Your parents cannot share with you something that will keep you innocent.
