This is the first book I have read by this author so I had no idea what this book was going to be like. I did enjoy reading this book although I did struggle to get into this book at the beginning the more I read, the more I really got into this book and the way it ended made me want to read more. I did enjoy the storyline of this book, the idea of it. I think that I started enjoying this book more when the story of the past started developing. The writing is very descriptive and vivid when it comes to the storyline and the characters. I really loved reading about Sebastian and my heart goes out to him throughout the book. He is trying so hard to lead a good life, he is an extremely protective person and has a great capacity to love. Even Aare, but for reasons I won't go into because I think it would give too much away! Sometimes I don't even fully read the blurb!! I cannot remember the last time - if ever - that I read a book like this one that with one sentence, it changes the story so drastically and completely!! In good ways, I assure you! It starts off narrated by Zoey, your typical drab 21 year old who doesn't like to go out drinking Okay maybe that isn't typical, but that is part of the reason I was so enamored with the story!

You know there is something mysterious about her from the opening of the story, but as you go back and relive "That Night" with her, you know that there is so much more to her, to her secret, to her history and to this story! The same need to keep reading, to become the characters, holds true when the story switches its narrative to Well, I won't spoil it for you!! I was a little surprised that this was a "sex not described" book given how it starts off!

Not in a bad way, just surprised. I found that I related more to Zoey than any of the other characters because we are a lot alike. I was truly blown away by how quickly I was drawn into the story, but then I found in certain parts I had a hard time following the story. Aug 12, Diana L. Matranga rated it it was amazing. There is a dreamy nature to the conversations between Valery and Angelina, sometimes almost hypnotic. I'm not sure that the technique always works, but its cumulative effect is powerful. There are other characters as well, including other vampires, people from Valery's past, and so on. The ending stuns the reader, but the ending also points to more adventures in the future. After the last line of the shocking ending, we read Page "Definitely not The End.

I was drawn in by the contemplative language or voice of the main character. The story began to draw me in and I was hooked. There were moments in the middle which were a bit slow, but once the clues wove themselves together, I became excited at the uniqueness of the plot. The novel itself was very well written, but unfortunately, as often happens to me, I was somewhat disappointed with the finale. I have the primitive tendency to root for those striving for something , and am dissatisfied when they fail to meet my particular expectations.

Buy for others

Other readers would not necessarily have this problem, preferring the artsy drama over the Disneyesque resolution. My primary frustration grew out of the main character's duality. The sophisticated manner in which he expressed himself juxtaposed to his childish and reckless mannerisms became more and more pronounced as the story progressed. It was likely intentional and certainly provided depth, but the two were just a little too pronounced for my taste.

All in all, I still felt it was a good read, a refreshing relief to the immature alternatives in its genre.

This novel is an amazing in-depth read into the mind of a immortal vampire and a mortal girl. Thought provoking, stylish and intensely emotional, this novel is not your normal vampire tale. Krisi Keley takes you on a wondrous journey into the mind of a vampire and this journey is a tale that really makes everyone, mortal and immortal take a closer look at what they beleive to be true in life and love. This intriguing tale was not an easy read but not in a bad way. It made you think and books that can make you do that are few and far between.

It was not a quick read because I found myself trying to identify with both of the main characters and was able to see both sides of this tale from their view points. It was fun to analyze their feelings and thoughts. I would recommend this book to those who thought they had read everything about vampires.

The ending was eye opening for me when it finally clicked just what this mortal girl was to her vampire. Again very thought provoking.
