Thankfully there are two heroes in the shape of Mike and Jane, the former an ex super soldier, now even more enhanced thanks to some very strange nanonite implants, and alongside him, Jane, a brilliant scientist, also enhanced with said nanonites. I think it prudent to mention at this point that there is some highly comical sex scenes and mildly sexual content, but all within the humorous context of the book.
Moore, and later on, yet another robot saying how he must stock up on Dean C. All in all, an exciting action filled book, lots of speculative technology and some more familiar sci-fi themes, all combined with some subtle, and often, not so subtle humour — a great read. Jun 19, Lesley Hayes rated it really liked it. I love science fiction. The idea of robots and A.
We already have much of the nanotechnology described in this novel. Moore has taken the concept that bit further and created the most incredible kaleidoscopic advent I love science fiction. Moore has taken the concept that bit further and created the most incredible kaleidoscopic adventure ride out of it. I loved this novel for that reason.
It is clever, funny, fast-paced and utterly improbable Interweaving a complex plot and a cast of equally complex characters, blurring the lines between robot and human, the book throws up important questions about where the future is heading, as well as offering an intriguing story full of sub-plots. It is this that makes the sometimes unlikely scenarios a little easier to imagine. He is definitely an accomplished writer to watch.
Feb 17, Kelly Clare rated it really liked it. Moore I am reviewing this book on a read-to-review basis. The Nano Man is a book in its own element. Moore MUST work in this industry. He had me believing he did anyway. That was the extent of information in here. This is a great read for anyone heavily into their science fiction. I will go a step further with authentic science fiction also.
This doesn't mean it's a dry read. T Nano Man by Dean C. There is humour regularly spaced throughout the book. I loved Selena, I thought she was hilarious and, on this note, I commend the author on sticking to the impersonal, logical voices of the robots. I didn't notice any inconsistencies in this at all and this was one of the best parts for me. Though many of the characters are emotionally detached, the author manages to get the reader to warm to them as well no small feat either.
I have to say I felt a little flat after finishing because of the ending. But them the breaks! Some of the relationships were unusual, but somehow they worked well in this novel when combined with the 'emotional detachment' I mentioned above. Overall a good read and perfect for a lover of science fiction. Feb 05, Jeremy Croston rated it really liked it. The name Nano Man tells you everything you need to know before you read the book. This is a cyber-punk adventure that is filled with technological elements that will make you think about what's really possible.
The author's description of the androids is so life-like that they can even replace people without anyone being none the wiser. Our heroine is Jane Macelvey and she finds herself in trouble with the government.
I'm going to to say much because this story is deep and i highly recommend if y The name Nano Man tells you everything you need to know before you read the book. I'm going to to say much because this story is deep and i highly recommend if you're interested that you grab the title yourself. You'll be rewarded as you follow along with Jane on a story that shows you just what these androids can do.
I'll be the first to say, the whole techno-punk thing isn't my normal genre, but I'm so glad I took a chance with this book. Moore is very inventive and creative with his writing and in this setting it really shines. Poltical sabotage, corporate spying, assassination, replicating humans with robots, it's all here in one heck of a ride. Excellent read and an eye opening experience. Mar 26, Tom Bryson rated it it was amazing. The race and competition for supremacy in this field holds the prize of unbelievable riches and world do Dean C.
The race and competition for supremacy in this field holds the prize of unbelievable riches and world domination. The story is fast-paced with gains and setbacks for the protagonists and jolting moments of violent action that stretch belief to the limit — but this is fantasy! Yet Moore raises questions about what kind of future society humanity faces as technological advances evolve both people and robots.

Throw a hatful of genres into a bowl, add next century technology, comic book smart zippy banter, a spoonful of the impossible, a gram of amphetamines and whisk, and keep on whisking! The dialog is fibre optic fast, but after some genetic enhancement surgery I was able to read it, and then read it over, before I understood that I was on a rollercoaster in a tornado during the blitz.
When the action kicks, punches, shoots, stabs, explodes, rips apart and chews in, we are gifted to a body count Wow! When the action kicks, punches, shoots, stabs, explodes, rips apart and chews in, we are gifted to a body count greater than Hardcore Henry, and although there are some similarities to the film, Nano Man has far more detail and complexity, and is viewed from a wider, richer choice of angles. Jul 18, Doug rated it liked it. It was okay but never really seemed to get started. Apr 19, Mike Billington rated it it was amazing. Let me start by saying that I have seldom - perhaps never - encountered a writer whose depth and breadth of imagination matches Dean C.
His ability to create completely new worlds and believable alternative realities is nothing short of amazing, in my opinion. The fact that his novels are also crammed full of the information that those of us who are not scientists need to comprehend some of the mind-boggling scenarios he creates makes reading his stories all the better. They are moving ever closer to the day when they will have successfully reprogrammed or replaced everyone capable of dissent and they are doing so in the way that charismatic, power-mad men and women always have: By promising people a new world in which all of their desires will be met.
Moore's characterizations of some of the corporate leaders who are racing against one another to make this happen to their exclusive advantage is spot on as are his characterizations of the scientists who obligingly do their bidding in exchange for huge salaries, comfortable lives and plaques on the wall proclaiming how smart they are.
But 'Nano Man' is more than just that: It is a love story as well. Jane, a brilliant scientist, is a long jump ahead of her colleagues when it comes to creating next generation nanites than can turn even ordinary men and women into super beings. Because that's true, she has been marked for elimination by assorted governments and corporations and she is constantly on the run. She, however, has a champion who is working hard to keep her alive even though she does not even, at first, know of his existence. Michael is that champion and they do not, at first, get along well at all.
She finds him shallow; he finds her occasionally insufferable. They fall in lust long before they fall in love then go through a period when they can barely stand one another.
Nano Man by Dean C. Moore
That changes, however, and when it does some very interesting things happen to their nanite-infected bodies and minds. Those two elements would be enough for most writers, but Moore has also packed 'Nano Man' with hair-breadth escapes, shoot-outs and hand-to-hand combat to make it an enjoyable adventure story as well. If you like your science fiction to be something more than weird aliens and spaceships then you'll like 'Nano Man. I highly recommend it.
Apr 09, Jason Ayres rated it it was amazing. Moore and gave it a try. The abilities and motivations of the robots, humans and those in-between are explored to an incredible depth, with the ability to enhance oneself with the nanobot technology blurring the distinction between what is human and what is not. Over the course of the book all sorts of new abilities are introduced with the ability to evolve being a key plot point. With the stakes high, there are plenty of kill or be killed scenarios.
The story verges almost on horror in places as those who get in the way are calmly and emotionlessly despatched, with a body count that puts Terminator to shame. Of all the characters, I naturally found myself rooting for Jane and Michael, the two main leads, and between the action sequences there is plenty of comic relief with these two.
Dec 21, Jana Petken rated it it was amazing. Dean C Moore never fails to amaze me with his innovative storylines and rampant imagination. I can see this as a movie. What is a Nano Man and what can it do? What we learn is that powerful people will do anything to get it, and the young scientist who developes it is running for her life. Other readers - if you're looking for something a bit different and like your books fast and furious, this may hit the mark. This is my first foray into the cyberpunk genre and goodness what a ride it was.
The story is compelling and the characters along with the relationships between them were some of the most unique I've ever read. Within the fast paced adventure there is an intelligent consideration of Readers of cyberpunk - if this author isn't already known to you, add him to your BTR list. Within the fast paced adventure there is an intelligent consideration of what makes us human, the relationship between large corporations and government, fierce competition within the military and industry and environmental issues.
Without missing a beat, the author also throws a sprinkling of witty one-liners into the mix. Overall I found this an enjoyable mind boggling read. As a newbie to the genre, although intrigued I was quite confused during the first section of the book. Once I had my 'Aha moment' and realised what was going on, I still found I had to concentrate hard to avoid missing the many clever little nuances and obtain the full benefit of the read. I think this was due to a combination of my lack of experience and the author's layering of so many issues and strands rather than the quality of the writing.
While not graphic or gruesome the body count and violence was towards the top end of my personal spectrum. And the final question I often ask myself - would I read more by this author? A definite yes, but I'll let my brain cool down first. Feb 10, Pennie rated it it was amazing.
Moore is not new to the publishing world and although I'm new to reading his books 'Nano Man' being my first, I was not disappointed. One of the most poignant aspects to the content of Dean C. Nano Man is a book for cyber-punk and tech-head futurists. Imagine a world where technology is at a tipping point; where the droid is almost capable of human behaviour.
Each with a destiny to fulfill. Aug 27, Gordon Bickerstaff rated it it was amazing. It's sci-fi but also a pretty good thriller, with great imagination, and a hint this could be a glimpse of a real future. Stir in a dose of corporate robotics greed, power-driven politicians, smart science, a touch of curious romance, sprinklings of humour, and you have a brilliant cocktail to savour.

Of course, it can't be good for the world, and it soon becomes a race to find out who will succeed in dominating the world. There are of course, humans, and I liked the ultra smart bioengineer, Jane MacElvey. A page turner with twists, action, and thrills. Some might find it is a little over the top, but hey, this is entertainment!

This is a book that is completely original. Mar 31, Robin Austin rated it it was amazing. I write this review as the Iran nuclear deal deadline approaches. The writing is eerily imaginative, tight, witty, and comedic, the characters are malignant, endearing, and disturbing, and the plot moves at break-neck pun intended speed.
Highly recommend for a thought provoking, LOL, rocket ride to the next world order. Feb 28, Loren Lockner rated it it was amazing. This is some sort of awesome Cyberpunk! Nano Man is an intricate and spelling binding sci fi novel where the future knows no limits. Jane Macelvey, the brilliant bioengineer, is on the run with Michael, the first Nano man, who the competition wishes to destroy. Michael has the amazing ability to mutate into whatever form is necessary during battle I particularly enjoyed the werewolf and is an awesome force to reckon with.
