BHAGAVAD GITA (Italian Edition)

Wherever one is on the way back to God, the Gita will shed its light on that segment of the journey. The ancient sacred writings do not clearly distinguish history from symbology; rather, they often intermix the two in the tradition of scriptural revelation. Prophets would pick up instances of the everyday life and events of their times and from them draw similes to express subtle spiritual truths. Divine profundities would not otherwise be conceivable by the ordinary man unless defined in common terms.

When, as they often did, scriptural prophets wrote in more recondite metaphors and allegories, it was to conceal from ignorant, spiritually unprepared minds the deepest revelations of Spirit.

Thus, in a language of simile, metaphor, and allegory, the Bhagavad Gita was very cleverly written by Sage Vyasa by interweaving historical facts with psychological and spiritual truths, presenting a word-painting of the tumultuous inner battles that must be waged by both the material and the spiritual man.

In the hard shell of symbology, he hid the deepest spiritual meanings to protect them from the devastation of the ignorance of the Dark Ages toward which civilization was descending concurrent with the end of Sri Krishna's incarnation on earth. The words of Lord Krishna to Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita are at once a profound scripture on the science of yoga, union with God, and a textbook for everyday living. The student is led step by step with Arjuna from the mortal consciousness of spiritual doubt and weakheartedness to divine attunement and inner resolve.

The Bhagavad Gita—a comprehensive metaphysical and psychological treatise—describes all experiences that will come to the spiritual traveler on the path of emancipation…. The timeless message of the Bhagavad Gita does not refer only to one historical battle, but to the cosmic conflict between good and evil: The devotee should analyze his daily mental and physical actions to determine just how much of his life is ruled by the ego's ignorance delusion and body consciousness, and how much he is able to express of the soul's wisdom and divine nature.

Yoga meditation is the process of cultivating and stabilizing the awareness of one's real nature, through definite spiritual and psychophysical methods and laws by which the narrow ego, the flawed hereditary human consciousness, is displaced by the consciousness of the soul. Each person has to fight his own battle of Kurukshetra. It is a war not only worth winning, but in the divine order of the universe and of the eternal relationship between the soul and God, a war that sooner or later must be won.

It was first published in by Macmillan Publishers and is now available in nearly sixty languages [1] [2] and is primarily promoted and distributed by followers of ISKCON. For each verse, the book in complete editions includes the Devanagari script, a Latin transliteration, word-for-word Sanskrit - English meanings, and English translation. An extensive commentary by Prabhupada is given throughout, based on various Gaudiya Vaishnava works, including: In the narrative, Lord Krishna has descended to earth to aid Arjuna in his battle against Kauravas and their army.

Lord Krishna assumes the role of Arjuna's chariot driver and aids him in the battle and reveals to Arjuna several divine truths about human existence in the material plane, the true nature of the supreme personality of God, and the method of eternal progression and release from the earthly cycles of death and rebirth through the practice of bhakti yoga.

The narrative teaches that achieving Krishna consciousness and attaining the inner realization that all life is a manifestation of the eternal energy of Krishna will release an individual soul from the cycles of reincarnation and death and rebirth. The narrative culminates with Krishna revealing to Arjuna his universal form which encompasses all life and material existence.

One notable event in the narrative is when Arjuna gazes at the opposing army of demons and sees his relatives fighting for the demonic army, he is filled with grief and remorse that he must kill his own flesh and blood. In reply, Krishna reveals his true form to Arjuna and tells him that it does not matter if his relatives die in the battle today because they will eventually die anyway, and that Arjuna's duty to the supreme lord and his own self-realization transcends his material attachments to his relatives.

The central message of the text is that nothing ever truly dies and that all life is in a continual cycle of death and rebirth, and that one has a duty to the process of self-realization and progression in order to manifest the supreme personality of God and achieve Krishna Consciousness, thereby escaping the eternal cycles of death and rebirth.

The book advocates the path of bhakti toward Krishna , who is seen as the Supreme Personality of Godhead Himself.

It establishes that Krishna is not an incarnation, He is the cause of all causes. He is the source of all incarnations. He is even the cause of Vishnu. Followers of the Vedas regard the Bhagavad Gita as the essence of the Vedic knowledge and the Upanishads and consider the book authoritative and literally true. Thank you for your courage in the service to Stila Prabhupada and Vaisnavas. I was very disturbed and could not accept it.. I use to chant Krishna Bhakti… That was the first moment.. Hare Krishna, dear prabhu, All glories to Srila Prabhupada. All glories to all Vaishnavas. I am a servant of yours from China. Could you kindly share with an original edition of Bhagavad Gita as it is?

I mean that could I get a copy of your comparison of the two editions? That would be heplful. Here it should be noted that Prabhupada is focusing on Bhakti yoga by stressing on worshiping Bhagavan worships Me , and not the Paramatma feature engages in the worshipful service of the Supersoul. In fact it is a great technical error as well.

The supersoul or Paramatma is an object of meditation, because the supersoul resides in the heart as a witness. You cannot use your senses to serve something which resides inside your heart. Bhagavan is represented as the deity form which can be served appropriately. Therefore the change in words completely gives a wrong meaning to what Prbahupada originally wanted to say. Prabhupada at other places in the Geeta has stated that there are three features of the absolute truth: Brahman, Paramatma and Bhagavan.

But after he left this planet, the meaning of his original text has been greatly altered which totally camouflages the original intention of Prabhupada in writing Bhagavad Geeta as it is. It contains the results of mental speculations by some people, which are neither sanctioned by Prabhupada nor in the same spirit in which it was written by Prabhupada. Im so sorry about this. I cant belive that the sacred book of srila Prabhupada are touch by his own disciple. I am very angry with the responsible for such act.

I would like to translate the original Spanish version Srila Prabhupada who left us. That is called Krsna consciousness. Prabhupada never mentions such an expression in the entiere series of teachings he dileverd through his books, lectures and conversations. I was reading Srimad bhagavatham from prabhupadabooks.
