The Temptress (MF, Werewolf MMF) (Taming the Beast Book 2)
The University had recently created its own small record label called High Water and he brought Kimbrough in to cut some sides, including his next single titled, "Keep Your Hands Off Her. The result has become hill country legend, and his band, featuring Calvin Jackson on drums father to Cedric Burnside and one of the most rock steady drummers of all time , created a sound that launched a whole new generation of blues fans.
Produced by Butch Vig, "Bricks Are Heavy" is somewhat poppier with more focused songwriting than their previous LP's and was the band's breakthrough album fueled by the success of the single "Pretend We're Dead". L7 was often associated with the then raging Grunge movement even though they were from L. First time ever on vinyl.
Pressed on gram Audiophile vinyl. Double LP in Gatefold jacket and 12" book with lyrics and previously unpublished photos. The audience's roaring laughter ends Tig's one hour set in Boston as it's taped and recorded for her HBO special, and, sure enough, concertgoers rise and applaud, an example of Tig's ability to connect to her fans through a sharp, dry wit and the hilarious payoff of her deadpan jokes. The special, now available as Boyish Girl Interrupted, on Secretly Canadian, is the follow up to her Grammy nominated second album, Live.
Her HBO special, a first, draws highly on personal experiences, speaking frankly and incisively about her fight with cancer, the death of her mother, her family and her wife. Originally released in For more than thirty years, Prince indefatigably attacked the bulwarks which separate funk, rock, pop and hip-hop. Ne'Astra Media Group now presents the album reissued on vinyl, for the first time in several years. Every wobbling bass note of J Dilla's production has been preserved to maintain the legacy of this hip hop rap classic and maintain the legend of one of hip-hop's greatest beatsmiths.
Jody was the drummer for the legendary band Big Star and now helps run equally legendary Ardent Studios in Memphis. Luther Russell was the leader of seminal roots-rock band The Freewheelers and is now an acclaimed solo artist and producer. The new LP - his second for Ghostly International - finds the rural recluse resurrecting an old approach to hack a new path through the muck. This may be his most unintentionally psychedelic and left-field creation yet, full of rhythms that start and stop like a tractor on its last piston, resonating melodies made to fuel transcendental meltdowns, and vocals that hiss, gurgle, and growl.
With its fifteenth anniversary approaching on 13th July , is celebrating with the release of a compilation featuring eleven exclusive tracks - one from each of the artists to have graced the roster over the past fifteen years, plus three new signings - Ian William Craig, Olivier Alary and Resina - whose first albums are each set to appear this year.
Curated and compiled by 's David Howell, none of these tracks has previously seen a physical release. The last album before Venom's first of many lineup changes is another strong proto-thrash effort from the band. Both the production values and the band's technical chops have progressed since the preceding At War With Satan, but rather than continue that album's flirtations with extended prog rock song structures they deliver a competent collection of shorter tracks. Two LPs full of Wipers rarities, including their almost impossible-to-find debut single from , "Better Off Dead," as well as other rarities from B-sides, compilation tracks, and acoustic and electric performances from to A totally necessary release for all fans of this legendary American band that put down the roots of '80s and '90s noise and underground rock!
Deluxe gatefold sleeve with full details. Totally spun magic rap from the dudes behind Workaholics! Comes with a holographic cover too! The deluxe 2xCD features an entire album of previously unreleased tracks recorded during the Pink album sessions in The bonus Forbidden Songs collects 9 tracks of the same hyperactive, accessible and aggressive caliber of the original album, available here for the first time, mixed with additional editing and arrangement in and mastered in January Now their brandnew single "Shake It Out" follows the tradition of these hit records.
The A-side "Shake It Out" is a catchy, infectious tune as it moves a little bit towards a psychedelic hammond Freakbeat-direction. The B-side is an ultimate 60s hammondbeat-piece. Once again, an absolutely danceable smashing hit by these fine gentlemen! Both of the songs are self-composed and won't leave your head that easily.
This soulful rock'n'roll-gift is wrapped in a fantastically creepy cover-artwork by brilliant album-cover artist Merinuk, who is well-known through his artwork of countless famous 60's-Garage records. With tube amps, vintage instruments and an all-out garage sound, they have only one ambition They're never going to make it to MTV, but that's already a good sign!
Shine your boots, pull on your striped T-shirt, here they are! Influenced by West coast psych and garage bands from the 60s and 70s, these boys play fantastic and powerful music, that is both thrilling and exciting. The A-side "Abyss" is a dark, psychedelic, rocking song with a gloomy touch to it. Interestingly, the single has no B-side, but a second A-side - the boys just couldn't decide on a song to be superior to the other one and both songs are definitely A-side-material!
So A-side number two, named "Space Witch" is a wild, rocking song with a lot of power! The song is wild psychedelic rock with a heavy guitarsound, a cool attitude and a catchy beat and rhythm. Since the band has not only recorded 8 albums and numerous EPs, but also played for MTV and toured through Japan, the USA and Europe where they made their name through uniquely wild live-shows.
Their latest LP "Unsere Favoriten" consists of the favourites among their song-repertoire indeed, it's like a "best of"-lp, but newly recorded. The songs are very well chosen, known from both previous albums or live-shows, and are definitely representative for the band. With "Mundo Moderno" it starts with full power right away!
The unmistakable, wild, distorted guitar-sound, a cool punkrock attitude, catchy melodies, the vocals of singer Gabriel Thomaz and Erika Martins, that harmonise brilliantly together, and a hard beat make up the sound of this Brasilian quartet. Their wild debut album proves it as an album that stands out with a fresh and smashing sound on the garagepunk-horizon.
They've created a quite unique sound and when you listen to their albums, you recognise a development within their own sound, that combines many different influences. This band from New York proves an immense amount of power and combines a lot of different influences like 60's Garage, dirty Punkrock, Pop, Psych and the 80's Garagerevival-sound perfectly, adding the strong, punky vocals of tough frontwoman Esther Crow and thereby creating a unique and captivating sound. Compared to its predecessors their brandnew LP "House on Fire" puts a bit more focus on the 60's Garage sound with a more dominant organ-sound and thereby fits right in the Soundflat Records-catalogue.
Here comes one true hit-record! Aside from 7"releases and split-singles the boys are well known for their fantastic live-shows in Japan or recently at the Burger Boogaloo in the USA. These wild Garagepunkers seem to be made for the stage, where they live out their craziness and pass it on to the audience - now with their debut-album you can take this Japanese craziness right home with you to your livingroom.
Definitely one of the most exciting newcomers of today's Garage-scene! These fine musicians have already taken over the USA rapidly with their powerful, groovy sound and their outstanding live performance, and are more than ready to take over the rest of the world now. The album was previously released as a CD on the American label Siren Records in a limited quantity and sold out very fast, so that Soundflat Records decided not to withhold this treasure from you any longer and therefore release it again; this time not only as CD deluxe digipack , but on vinyl also.
In spite of this clash of different genres, all their LPs still maintain a strong consistency. Whoever saw this incredible band live or heard one of their two amazing singles yet, knows exactly what we're talking about: The amazing cover artwork of the record is made by the legendary Japanese scene-artist Jelly Bean, so the album doesn't only sound great, it also looks it!
The crazy Mexicans deliver raw studio recordings as well as one live recording and thereby prove the authenticity of their sound.
Their sound is of unaltered quality with ingenious musical arrangements, catchy authentic beatpop-sounds and beautiful harmonies that give you goosebumps. These four young boys from Texas play some funtastic 60s Garage while they have an incredible amount of energy in their music. Their songs are straight to the point and fun, with a wild organ, melodic harmonies, crazy guitars and here and there a furious saxophone.
Only a few months later, the band recorded their debut self-titled EP and signed with No Sleep Records. These are the original versions of both songs that were later redone on the Fontanelle album. Originally released in June as a limited edition single. It subsequently sold out within the month on the back of gaining lauded U. K mag NMEs single of the week. Since then both versions have been out of circulation.
These versions are unavailable elsewhere. They played very many shows together and became great mutual admirers - this 7" comes along about 9 months later. Includes a Digital Download Card. Side A contains the band's single, "Touch Me I'm Dick" and side B features an etching of a quote about the song from Matt Dillon's character Cliff Poncier, the fictional lead singer of the band.
B-side is a Gary Numan cover that is exclusive to this release! Thankfully, In the Red has pressed two of those songs on a 7", including "Wahoo". Structurally, it recalls Ty Segall's great Melted single "Caesar"-it opens with an acoustic strum, but is later bolstered by a complementary electric guitar.
Chad's voice sounds caked in fuzz and reverb, which is especially powerful when he delivers these brief, single-syllable yelps. Eventually, of course, the song gets the electric guitar solo any slow-builder of this ilk deserves. He croons, rips, and packs the song with sonic detail-a warbling sci-fi noise beneath the solo, it finishes with what sound like an old doo-wop record playing softly beneath Chad's still-trembling prolonged guitar. Wand front man Cory Hanson and main Meatbodie Chad Ubovich have been friends since childhood and still remain musical allies.
Cory sometimes fills in on lead guitar in the Meatbodies and both guys play together in Mikal Cronin's touring band. Both of their bands have full lengths coming out on In The Red soon! With all of that said, it only made sense to do a split single with the two. As a testimony to the musical psychic connection these sonic brothers have, when faced with the task to come up with a new song for this split on the quick they both wrote songs about the "void" without any knowledge of what the other was doing.
The Meatbodies urge you to feed it while Wand wish to be taken back to it. Both sound like an excellent idea. Into the void - now! Available in 4 different colors red, black, white, and blue and comes in a microfiber bag with a numbered certificate of authenticity! Remastered by John Golden. THE buzz band this year. Artwork by Raymond Pettibon. B-side is an etching copied from the etching included with the Voyager Golden Record, sent off into space in as the most elaborate message-in-a-bottle idea ever imagined.
Beautiful one-sided laser etched single of copies from San Francisco's acclaimed Black metal doom band. Warpaint is a well-oiled machine. They weave intricate guitar lines, hypnotic vocals and driving post punk rhythms into gorgeous, sprawling songs that skirt the line between psychedelia and intimacy. Both live and on record, Warpaint sound like they're channeling something truly otherworldly, and mystical. They are also a band that truly enjoys playing together.

This was followed later that year by Laura Palmer EP, named for the teenaged murder victim in David Lynch's cult '90s TV series Twin Peaks; the creepy accompanying video for the track "Overjoyed" was also heavily inspired by the series. The group returned in with their debut album Bad Blood. Nice three-way gatefold sleeve. It seemed more like a box than a musical instrument: The sounds it produced seemed particularly bizarre; to my young musician's ears, trained in Western classical music, it sounded out of tune.
That's because, like my brothers and sisters, I had been trained on the piano. I had trouble understanding how anyone could endure these tones and, honestly, our father's passion for 'unusual sounds' did not interest me. I was in secondary school at the time the very late s and was not at all oriented toward musical projects. I planned to graduate, and then become a chef. In the early s, my interest in music picked up. I was still undecided about my career. I was content to pursue my 'serious' English studies while hanging out at jazz clubs at les Halles in Paris, where I sometimes joined jam sessions.
Next, I put together my first band with professional musicians; I had hidden my age and lack of experience from them. France was just beginning to accept 'world music. It was a wonderful period. My father asked my brother Toups and me to accompany him for a few concerts. In particular, we toured Tunisia together at the time of the Carthage International Festival.
Back then, my father was renowned across the French-speaking world. Everyone looked forward to hearing his humorous songs, like 'Agatha' and 'La condition masculine. One day he put a sansa in my hands, without saying a word. He was sending me a message: Exploring the instrument and playing, I transcended the 'imperfect' aspect of its sound and began to discover its fascinating potential. Playing the sansa, you enter a world that enraptures you in a very serene and mesmerizing way. I think its sounds evoke a rainbow, with rain falling while the sun shines.
A very peaceful feeling. It allows you to make music that truly sounds like life. The sansa is also the instrument that my father and I shared the most because I am a pianist and he was a guitarist. I also share this eminently African instrument with my musician brother, Toups.
Our father loved to tell us one of the legends of the sansa: This instrument gives life to the world, to beings and things. I did not participate in the production of the various records that my father devoted to the sansa. He did it himself, you might say, in his 'laboratory.
The piano remains present so that listeners don't become disoriented and wonder about the weird sounds invading their ears! However, I find the eccentric and disturbing side of sansa interesting. And the sansa always affects the audience: The secrets of this instrument are surely its beneficial powers and Brand new cover art. Repackaged in resealable mylar bag with obi strip. Ocean Song, Just Once, and Playground. These songs feature a decidedly more grunge sound than the rest of the Bikini Kill catalog.
Limited foil-numbered editions of 1, gram black vinyl and 1, gram opaque red vinyl. The minimal, incessant melodies laced with anarchic noise create an incomparable musical experience that heralded the careers of Nick Cave, Rowland S. Howard, Mick Harvey, and Tracy Pew. Limited foil-numbered editions of 1, gram black vinyl and 1, gram red orange vinyl. It has a punchy, muscular sound. In the past, Can's Tago Mago established that the only rule in rock and roll is that there are no rules.
Pink Floyd's prodigious output in the 70s showed us that architecture can be cool, while unskilled laborers Black Sabbath demonstrated you can make a lot from not that much. Now Black Mountain teach us that you don't have to be afraid of the past to move bravely into the future, defining what it is to be a classic rock band in the new millennium.
IV is their Houses of the Holy, an unapologetically ambitious record made by a group of musicians who are at the peak of their powers. It was the final Black Sabbath studio album until 's 13 to feature vocalist Ozzy Osbourne prior to his departure from the band in , and the last full studio album to feature the band's original lineup. Technical Ecstasy is the seventh studio album by Black Sabbath, produced by guitarist Tony Iommi and originally released in September Not only had they managed to charm world renowned producer Joe Chiccarelli Morrissey, The Strokes, Elton John to join the sisters and their bassist Micayla Grace in the studio, but Jen and Jessie had been crawling out of their own personal dramas.
While emotionally spinning, they dove head first into music.
The three girls spent time writing the 10 song LP at a remote house in Joshua Tree, away from the distractions of the city. Other times Jen and Jessie worked alone, just like when they were teenaged punk brats playing in their parents' garage, imitating their heroes The Slits, Black Flag and Minor Threat. The result is an ambitious rock record with a new found pop refinement that somehow still feels like the Shangri-Las on speed, driven forward in a wind of pot and petals, a wall of guitars in the back seat. Vinyl version includes download card. Gqatefold domestic reissue of the 17 track double LP.
Comes with download codes and sticker. Now available on gram Audiophile vinyl. Originally released in the summer of , The Ascension effectively tears down the genre-ghettos between 20th century avant-garde and ecstatic rock 'n' roll. The title track attains a densely packed, larger-than-life sound and as author Marc Masters says best "never stops climbing skyward.
Before her early death at age 42, Trish Keenan composed and recorded hours of vocal material for Peter Strickland's Barberian Sound Studio soundtrack. The soundtrack composed by Trish Keenan and James Cargill sets a sinister and atmospheric tone that still exists within Broadcast's sonic universe. The LP comes with printed inner sleeve and is sure to goes out of print immediately after the first pressing.
A compendium of early EP tracks and B-sides, along with rare compilation tracks that plays through like a concise summary of their music to date. Through the deeply intricate orchestral compositions and the unmistakably glassy vocal work of Trish Keenan, this treasure chest is the perfect introduction to Broadcasts singular form of indie electronica. Cuts like Illumination and Unchanging Window embody their fusion of melancholia and unease. Even the more ambient instrumentally-led cuts like Locusts and DDL carry that same sense of exploratory symphony.
Always delivered with a streak of honest pathos and emotional authenticity, this is a collection of gems from Broadcasts prolific output. Ominous Cloud, for example, is an archetypal Broadcast treasure. Blissful, glowing compositions holding up the vacant melodies of Trish Keenan. Lunch Hour Pops is another blast of their idiosyncratic sound which reaches a spiralling climax on closer Hawk.
Poetic lyricism, cinematic instrumentation and a constant undercarriage of lifes darker possibilities. Returning after a two year absence, this LP saw a new sound for the band and a new line up of just Keenan and James Cargill. Stripped down to these essential components, they sought inspiration from minimalist post-punk outfits like Young Marble Giants and created a record of pop melodies that maintained the signature Broadcast feeling of melodrama and despondency.
Having lost a third member in the run-up to this album, track 11 is entitled Minus 3 and further demonstrates Broadcasts ability to bring real life experiences to record in inventive and effective ways. The stark minimalism of Tender Buttons was a first for Broadcast but their enduring melodies triumphed once again.
Their juxtaposition of sugary s pop melodies against experimentalist sampling and production has never been rivalled or even successfully imitated. Echoey chimes and eerie insomniac melodies play out against a backdrop of orchestral instrumentation and cinematic symphony. The atmospheres created on this record are truly unique - testament to the outfit that constructed them. Warp compiled these singles in to collect the riches that had people infatuated with Broadcasts distinctive sound. Their retro-futurist vision was brought about by shapeless analogue oscillations and sliced sampling.
The dystopian lullaby melodies that featured on singles like According To No Plan and The Book Lovers were - and still are - completely in their own lane. Trish Keenans vacant vocals cascade around the instrumentation and production of James Cargill and Roj Stevens. What came after this release was a string of truly seminal LPs but it was this accumulation of singles that showed fans the niche Broadcast were hellbent on crafting for themselves.
It was produced by Martsch and longtime collaborator Sam Coomes of Quasi. Burroughs was asked to record an audio version of his favorite parts of Naked Lunch. Hal Willner and James Grauerholz produced several sessions and recruited a team of world-class musicians to help, including Bill Frisell, Wayne Horowitz and Eyvind Kang. Limited edition of 2, This is the band's debut studio album released on March 10, This was the third line-up of Buzzcocks, with guitarist Pete Shelley singing following the departure of original vocalist Howard Devoto and then the firing of bassist Garth Smith.
Pitchfork went on to name Ege Bamyasi 19 on it's list of "Top Albums of the s". Popular tracks include "Vitamin C" and "Spoon" and a number of the other tracks have been sampled and covered. Ege Bamyasi, which means "Aegean Okra" in Turkish also features one of the band's most iconic front cover images.
The use of improvisation, experimentation, editing and layering of sounds set a standard for Can's subsequent albums in the early s, which were seminal to the freewheeling avant-garde style dubbed "krautrock" by the British music press. Limited edition colored vinyl wrapped in a stunning silver foil jacket! This vintage set shakes and boogies with tons of authentic blues rhythms including the fantastic "Back Door Man" and "Lets Work Together" as well as the Hooker-led bonus track "Tease Me Baby! Songwriter Will Toledo doesn't shy away from topics like depression and drugs, speaking intimately to the listener one moment before crescendoing into a punk rock shouting style chorus the next.
Theres a lo-fi, DIY aesthetic to the album, but the sound is full and heavy, punctuated with the sudden appearance of a small brass section, swirling psych guitars, and Toledo's insistent scream. The cathartic nature of Teens of Denial sneaks up on you; the songs are an exercise in sustained tension, often detouring into unexpected genre territory. It's a wonderful showcase for Toledo's arresting, insistent songwriting. Includes liner notes by Johnny Cash.
Yet, though it barely scratches the surface, The Essential Johnny Cash does present a series of satisfying and balanced snapshots of some of the Man in Black's most memorable work for the Sun, Columbia, and Mercury labels. Above all else, these selections are wonderful reminders of Cash's rustic eclecticism. Rather than look inward, Farrar uses his experience to write about what it means to go through something heavy and come out the other side a different person.

His marriage collapsed between the record's start and finish. Its multilayered songs incorporate ideas from a variety of movements and musical styles and then place them over simple and complex deliveries. Much wider in its perspective than The Damned's first two releases, Machine Gun Etiquette marks a defining moment in the evolution of underground music. It delivers a pleasurable listening experience that furthers one's appreciation of this deep, excellent, and genre-defying band. With Del aka Deltron Zero on vocals, Dan the Automator aka The Cantankerous Captain Aptos on production, and Kid Koala aka Skiznoid the Boy Wonder on turntables, this album takes the listener on a paranoid journey set in a dystopian year dealing with viruses, the apocalypse, an oppressive government, and a war waged against a huge company called the Corporate Bank of Time that rules the universe, all to the well-crafted and consistent musical backing of the Automator.
Lif compliment Del's vocal style and add the right amount of flavor to this classic period piece. Written and recorded during the downtime between a relentless touring schedule, Another One is an eight-track release that expands the arsenal of Mac's already impressive catalog, showing the maturity of Mac's progression as songwriter. The addition of another axe, together with the extra vocals makes for a more proggy, psychedelic affair than their previous 'Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light' dispatch, to these ears at least. Dopethrone, along with "Come My Fanatics" is often cited as Electric Wizard's seminal release and the highpoint of their career. Includes a bonus track "Mind Transferral".
Reviews have described it as "some of the absolute slowest, heaviest doom imaginable" and have said "it may well be the finest record to emerge from the whole British stoner-rock scene". On this album, Electric Wizard's very slow, heavy and psychedelic sound was at its most abrasive and aggressive. The band's epic 6th album is repressed and includes updated artwork.
