There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later. I really enjoyed this operational narrative that was housed in this 9 in by 12 in page book. Its really intelligently written by the collaboration of three experienced historians: While the main emphasis is placed on Barbarossa, Stalingrad, Kursk and Berlin, there is much more to this book.

There is also a lot of little items like a discussion of the" Byelorussian balcony" or the German aerial sneak attack on American Bs deployed at Russian airbases. The raid caused so much damage that the US canceled further aerial bombing of the Eastern Front from bases in Italy. After reading this book, new and casual readers will have a good general understanding of the war plus learn a few small gems of knowledge that are not widely distributed.

In addition to the concise narrative, there are approximately 20 color maps and many photos. A few of the photos are in color. The many photos are interesting but some of them can be seen in other books. The maps are in color and show the general axes of attack. They're easy to follow but aren't excessively detailed.

A few color illustrations are also included. While a Index is included, a Notes Section and Bibliography are absent.
