Sin and Death sitting till then at the Gates of Hell, by wondrous sympathie feeling the success of Satan in this new World , and the sin by Man there committed, resolve to sit no longer confin'd in Hell, but to follow Satan thir Sire up to the place of Man: To make the way easier from Hell to this World to and fro, they pave a broad Highway or Bridge over Chaos , according to the Track that Satan first made; then preparing for Earth, they meet him proud of his success returning to Hell; thir mutual gratulation.

Satan arrives at Pandemonium , in full of assembly relates with boasting his success against Man; instead of applause is entertained with a general hiss by all his audience, transform'd with himself also suddenly into Serpents, according to his doom giv'n in Paradise; then deluded with a shew of the forbidden Tree springing up before them, they greedily reaching to take of the Fruit, chew dust and bitter ashes.

The proceedings of Sin and Death ; God foretels the final Victory of his Son over them, and the renewing of all things; but for the present commands his Angels to make several alterations in the Heavens and Elements. Adam more and more perceiving his fall'n condition heavily bewailes , rejects the condolement of Eve ; she persists and at length appeases him: MEanwhile the hainous and despightfull act Of Satan done in Paradise, and how Hee in the Serpent, had perverted Eve , Her Husband shee , to taste the fatall fruit, Was known in Heav'n ; for what can scape the Eye [ 5 ] Of God All-seeing, or deceave his Heart Omniscient, who in all things wise and just, Hinder'd not Satan to attempt the minde Of Man, with strength entire , and free will arm'd , Complete to have discover'd and repulst [ 10 ] Whatever wiles of Foe or seeming Friend.

For still they knew, and ought to have still remember'd The high Injunction not to taste that Fruit, Whoever tempted; which they not obeying, Incurr'd , what could they less, the penaltie , [ 15 ] And manifold in sin, deserv'd to fall. In this book it follows Percy who has lost all his memories except the names of his girlfriend Annabeth, Hazel a teenage daughter of Pluto out off her time, and Frank a big unclaimed demigod with a secret.

The trio are tasked with the quest that will either save or destroy everything they know and love depending on if they complete it or fail, they have to save Thanatos, the hand of death. If he isn't freed then monsters will never die. He is guarded by a formidable enemy of ancient power. While they do this the roman camp has to fight their own battle at home against a army of monsters led by an immortal enemy. Full of action, cliffhangers, sorrow, and even love in a few places. I recommend this book to anyone wanting a good read.

I hate the cliff hanger, and not just because I hate cliff-hangers in general, but I really wanted that part to have a lot of detail, and I know he's going to skip over that part to start the next book.

This book is thrilling, adventures and awesome. Every spare moment I had i was reading this book. Their is to much hard words for kids 9 and under. But for kids 10 and up it is perfect!!! I can relate someone to this story is my friend Mauro to jason because both of them have confidence in themselves and are brave at the same time. Yes, i have done something similar that the characters have and that is when jason found a coin in his pocket and that turned into a sword.

As for me i keep putting on my clothes and finding money in them all the time. I did like the book because it had a lot of action and violence and suspense that kept making me asking questions. My favorite character was Leo because he had a tool pouch where he could take out anything he wants and anytime he wants to. There was no least favorite part because i liked it all.. I would like to change the character Jason to me because i would play a better Jason than him.

Good, yet not as original as the books in the preceding series About a year ago, I finally managed to get an older version of "The Lightning Thief", anxious to give it a try. If I remember right, it took me only two days to finish the series-starter, and best book ever written yet by Riordan, of one of the most adventurous and humorous series I've ever read besides Harry Potter. Each following book in the series was just as epic as the first; for this new series "Heroes of Olympus", time will tell if it will be just as gripping, and the plot just as eye-gluing, as each of the five books get published.

Percy Jackson, a sixteen-year old Greek demigod with a bad case of amnesia, runs across Northern California, desperately searching for a mysterious place in Berkley that a wolf named Lupa sent him to. Before becoming dinner for Medusa's sisters, he reaches Camp Jupiter, a safe haven and military training ground for Roman demigods, where he meets new friends, earns the suspicion of the entire camp for his uniquely Greek style of fighting and his amnesia, and is sent on a quest to Alaska to free the spirit of Death from the clutches of the earth goddess Gaia and her sons the giants.

Riordan's style is still the same: His newest characters, Hazel ad Frank, are likable and well developed.
