You might also want to Casco Viejo is a very safe, beautiful and fascinating place to visit but bear in mind that hotels in and around Casco Viejo ranges between mid-range to expensive and noise level in this UNESCO heritage site can get pretty loud on Fridays and Saturdays.

Take a taxi to one end of it central city and then walk as far as you want. On the city side of you there will be vendors and beautiful plants lots of people walking or biking.

Have a wonderful feed of seafood! The costera and the causeway are 26 km return. I did it on bike and it was just amazing.
