Angulo has raised the bar of surfing fiction to a level sure to stoke new comers, and kahuna's alike. One person found this helpful. This is a book written for a younger audience yet I thoroughly enjoyed reading Caught Inside. I loved the introspective growth of the charactors and the descriptions of the surf and how it feels to be a surfer. And I enjoyed the dog love story, as well. The book is nicely written and the story is warm and funny and definately made me want to do what I love doing. Nothing makes you a better person than enjoying a physical hobby that involves nature.

I would recommend this book to any of my friends kids. Although admittedly no longer a teen myself - I found this book super enjoyable and a compelling read. Absolutely adored the character Kekoa as he captures so much of the Hawaii I love including an ex-pro-surfer ex-husband and a little too much of myself for comfort.

I laughed out loud a number of times and definitely welled a tear or two.

Great story and more important, a great tale of redemption and love-of-life tucked inside an "easy-read". Recommend highly for 12 and up all the way up. Caught Inside would appeal to any young adult with its sence of adventure and the surf world. It also appeals to their delema of growing up, who they are, and what is important for them in this process. Ms Angulo captured the Hawaiian surfing culture very well along with delivering a powerful message.

This would make an excellent book for any school curriculum. A beautifully developed tale of two lives unexpectedly crossing and how each impacts the other.

I learned quite a lot about surfing with an insider's view on the draw of the ocean waves as well as the natural beauty of the islands. But more importantly the story revealed the inner thoughts of two generations of men in a way that any one can relate to. Wonderful work, highly recommended. The story is well written and riveting. I couldn't put it down. The message was touching, and reminds us that what seems like the smallest act can be life changing. Whether one is into surfing or not, one should take the time to read this book. Kudos to Lauren Benton Angolo! Wow is all i can say after reading this book.

Being a surfer and having kids that surf I truly appreciate someone who can tell a story of courage and perseverance in a realistic surfing point of view. Definitely a great read for teenager's! Really enjoyed how the story was just the thoughts of the two involved. I myself surf, and the way that it was written was almost as if it could have come directly from myself or any of the people I surf with. See all 10 reviews.
