West of Havana
Casa de la Musica and La Cecilia being two. The National Aquarium is here. A good gelato cafe is nearby across the street from the Hotel Copacabana. There is also a children's amusement park further west that is open on weekends. Not to be missed if there is an event happening, or you can get an invitation, is a visit to the top art school in Cuba, ISA.
This is the site of the old Havana Golf and Country Club and features an assortment of organic buildings built in the early years of the revolution. If you looking for a more laid back experience then Miramar is the place for you. It's about 30 to 45 minutes outside of Havana with modern hotels. Did not appear to have much to do as the town seems to be on the downside, though, the aquarium is located there in additional to the old Cococabana.
Miramar is best known for its embassies, which line Quinta Avenue Fifth Avenue. I would say, the Russian Embassy is the most striking with its distinctive tower! I was staying near old town, my friends were in Miramar. It has some nice looking, more modern hotels-- but there is not much else going on there that we could determine.
Check out the location versus what you want to do. We stayed in a hotel in Miramar and walked almost the entire City along the beach, to the parquet de Cocos, 5th Ave. Own or manage this property?

A simple and beautiful paradise of white sands and coral islands. Archipelagos of low Coral Islands dominate the North Coast. Gorgeous sands and pefect seas. The Eastern coasts can boast white sands and azure seas. West of Havana, there are some excellent beaches at several points along the north coast and to the extreme west at Maria La Gorda - one of our favourites. Maria La Gorda Maria La Gorda is as far west as you can get in Cuba and wonderful for diving, considered amongst the best in Cuba, with dive sites featuring black coral, sunken Spanish galleons, caves and tunnels.
This is also the place to go if you wish to retreat from the crowds, read a few good books, swim, snorkel and chill out. Also situated to the far west of the Guanahacabibes peninsular, Cabo San Antonio is geared to travellers who enjoy their creature comforts. The accommodation is more comfortable than at Maria La Gorda, the setting equally beautiful. Edged by pine trees, this is also a resort that specialises in peace and quiet - an ideal end to a busy Cuba tour or holiday and an excellent honeymoon getaway.
Boats for the island sail twice daily at 9am and 5pm. There are day trips to the Cay but you will have to make a very early start to catch the 9am boat. If Cayo Levisa is full or you do not fancy getting up at dawn, a solution is to stay at one of the hotels in Vinales and drive out to Cayo Jutias, an unspoilt cay with a small local fish restaurant, easily accessible for a pleasant day at the beach.
