But remember in the end there is an HEA and it's sooooooooooo sweet!!! View all 44 comments. After the best book of the year, let me introduce you my worst book of the year. This review is basically a big spoiler.

So if you want to read the book, just don't read this. Even the jerks need their ad, don't they? Or not really, okay. But I wanted to translate this "review" so here we go. Because this Jack Carter here? What did he do? Let's sum-up, shall we? Jack, that's gross - He makes her feel guilty when she's being unconfident. Oh, do I need to spell it? When he cheats on his girlfriend anyway.

That's lame - He discovers that the pregnancy was fake and meets the heroine who, I must say, doesn't act like a moron for the very first time. She asks him to find a way to make amends. He doesn't contact her during 6 months. Oh, but don't freak out! She forgives him when he shows up with flowers.

What am I saying? She asks him to forgive her at this point, I didn't even try to understand these characters. Way to violent for me. It was my I don't recommend book of the year. Also Cassie's character, to start with, was all over the place; she wasn't consistent with her inner thoughts and actions - She wanted the guy and was going to have him and hurt him first, in the next breathe, literally, she didn't want to know him?

Jack, lovable but whiny when he had NO right to be I'm not going to say anymore than that All that said, I stuck with it because I knew there had to be a reason for the good ratings and I got there in the end. On to the good things, or should I say Yummy things!!!! He never hooks up with the same girl twice His home life fell apart when he was growing up but Baseball stood by him, it's his escape and boy is he good at it. A mega star in the making which makes him a magnet; a target, another reason for the girls to LOVE him. She had a fairly rubbish time growing up herself, hence the rules of her, " She didn't care about what I did as an athlete; she cared about what I did as a person.

I inhaled quickly, a pleasure-filled moan escaping my lips. But love is not always easy , life is not always easy; sometimes mistakes are made that affect everything Sometimes there is NO going back Some things are completely out of our control Sometimes trying to do the right thing can be the absolute wrong thing!!! View all 45 comments. Maybe I've read too many New Adult books because even though these characters are in college, they felt like high schoolers and they were sooo immature. It was definitely a turn off. Jack and Cassie meet when she transfers to his college.

He's the hot baseball player and can But he's a once and done kind of guy and Cassie wants no part of that The more she pushes him away, the more he wants her and the more she wants him until she finally gives in. He's actually a nice guy once you get to know him and he opens up about his childhood. They share some similarities so they can both understand where the other is coming from.

It's not all roses though. They fight, he gets jealous, she suffers a traumatic event WTH? They're going to make the long distance thing work but we all know how those usually go. I just wish it wasn't so stereotypical. I mean there's an epilogue and everything. I'm guessing the author didn't originally intend to continue the series but since she did my curiosity is demanding I continue as well. Here's hoping they're a bit better. Feb 06, Gisbelle rated it it was ok Shelves: This book is wrong in so many levels. I am not going to write a review now because I don't have anything respectful to say.

I generally don't mind bad [fictional] boys. They are hot and since I enjoyed Beautiful Disaster so much, I was so excited to start this book. Boy, never have I ever been so disappointed! Everything about This book is wrong in so many levels. Everything about this book was just wrong. Let's start with Cassie, the main female character. She kept mentioning how her life had been screwed by her father not keeping his promises. Parents lie sometimes, nothing is out of ordinary. I didn't understand how just her father never kept his end of the deal messed her up so badly. Now about Jack Carter.

What should I say? I didn't find his bad temper hot at all. I really hated the way he treated women other than his "Kitten". Even those women were so annoying. I'll find someone to teach you a little respect. It takes two to do what they had done. I did not feel the romance. Jack started pursuing Cassie like crazy after only met her once and it was like 5 minutes. It was a bit too fast.

It was too desperate and I felt like the author just wanted to get it over with. The night they slept together for the first time was not how I had imagined it would be. First Cassie said she was not ready. And of course, Jack said it was ok, he would wait, blah, blah. Then he said he loved her and guess what? It took around 5 minutes and 3 words for Cassie to be ready. How the author kept mention the same things over and over again was just so exhausting. I lost count how many time Cassie rolled her eyes. It drove me over the edge. Is it so necessary that almost every YA and NA book now have the f-words?

I am not a writer obviously , but I don't think a good book depends on how many F-bombs it has. My phone vibrated in my pocket and I reached in and pulled it out. I am glad that some people enjoy their time reading this book. Maybe it is just not a book for me, so I am not going to say I had a good time reading this book. The one that changes everything for the good and the bad. This is a story of that kind of love. Meet Jack fucking Carter he's a college baseball superstar- He doesn't date.

He just sleeps with girls and all their friends. Meet Cassie aka Kitten- She's sassy, she's tough and says plays hard to get with Jack. But she has trust i 4 Fast Ball Stars College love can be intense and earth shattering and also the place where you meet "The One". But she has trust issues. They fall in love fast. Jack is a superstar and when Cassie becomes his girlfriend, she must deal with all that goes with dating a superstar.

Mostly, that every girl out there wants her man and will do just about anything to get him. All that she wants of Jack are that he follows her rules- Jack is recruited by the Major Leagues.

Movies in Theaters

All is going well, until Jack makes a life altering mistake. Life doesn't always go as you expect. Breaking one of the rules can change how you thought your life would turn out. I hate that Jack made a stupid mistake but I felt that he did what he thought was the right thing even though it wasn't. I wanted to hate him but I had a heart to forgive him. Can Cassie move on with her life, start over, and learn to love again all a new city away from Jack?

Can Jack come back from the mistake he made, show Cassie that his love never left, and get her to forgive him? All he has to do is It was a sweet, gut wrenching story. You keep rooting for them but there is so much thrown at them that you wonder is love enough? It ended in a happy place for me but there were so many questions that I had.

The next book gave me answers so while you can read just this book, reading the next one brings it all home.

Sterling gave us of this book before it was released confirmed that. But I have to admit it was even more than I expected! It is definitely one of my favorites this year.

And now on with my review Jack and Cassie are both emotionally damaged by their parents. They have an issue with trust and letting someone in for fear that they will get hurt. Jack deals with it by being a man whore and never "dating" anyone.

Cassie deals with hers by pretty much shutting herself off from everyone. But that all changes one night at a frat party. Jack immediately feels something for Cassie that he feels compelled to explore. After much persuasion on his part, Jack finally convinces Cassie to go on one date with him. During the date they both share the reasons behind their insecurities. By the end of it they have both realized that maybe they might just be able to fix each other.

They face the obstacles that come with wading through the uncharted territory of a relationship. One that is tested by Jack's status as a well known ball player first in college and then when he is drafted. They must endure weeks apart with nothing but phone calls, emails and text messages to get them through. This book will take you through a roller coaster of emotions. Jack and Cassie's relationship face challenges that I honestly did not believe they could overcome. But of course no one listened to me! I am so glad that things were not perfect for them though.

Because honestly where would be the fun if our hearts were not ripped out and stomped on at some point in the book?!?! This is not a must read book Sterling for another great book! View all 3 comments. Aug 24, Natalie rated it did not like it Shelves: I actually really enjoyed this book, for starters. The characters were great. Cassie was easy to like and i fell in love with Jake Carter from moment one.

Jake is the school's biggest player, and no girl can resist him. I loved reading how he got her to finally date him and how sweet they were together. I don't care gow drunk he was.

The Perfect Game (The Perfect Game, #1) by J. Sterling

It was unforgiveble and that he made the girl "pregnent" and then asked her to marry him I am all for drama and angst, but this was a bit to much Cheating is a hard limit for me. Especially since he was awere of the fact that he had a girlfriend despite being drunk of his ass he simply chose to ignore the fact and put his dick into another woman.

What Jack did ruined everything this book could be in my opinion. But I still have not forgiven him for what he did So to sum it up, everything went to hell after a great start. Cassie is weak and a fucking doormat for forgiving him so quickly and easily. And Jack is disgusting.. I am still gonna read book 2 though, in hopes that Cassie dumps his sorry ass. But he has do something pretty spectactular for me to forgive him. What he did was totally unforgivable and disgusting.

So I have decided that, for the first time ever, give this book the lowest rating, one star! View all 14 comments. Nov 05, Wanderlust rated it liked it Shelves: And I'm not asking for it back, even if you don't want it anymore. I'm just asking for a chance to have yours again. I promise I'll be more careful with it this time. I was seriously angry throughout a lot of this book, i found this at times really trying.

I do not know if i just was not in the right mind set for an mature YA or if maybe i just did not enjoy the book that much. I was unsatisfied with the entire book. I wanted to kill, i mean seriously kill Jack, i would of happily taken a murder rap for killing him in the end. I did not forgive him or even love him in the end like i normally do with the "bad apples". It was so beautiful at times, i wanted to fall inlove with the drama and horrible histories but i could not. I highlighted a lot of lines which i loved, bits of the book made me all gooey inside but then others made me feel like a volcano waiting to blow.

Cassie was sweet and innocent, she was a cute lead, she had an upsetting past with trust issues and she was a bit of a sap.. I wanted to rag doll her google the phrase a few times. I did like her but i could not connect to her. Jack was a player, a sex god, so full of himself, he tried so hard at times that the ice around my heart wanted to melt.. I wish i could of liked this more, i read reviews for this book praising it to jesus, i seriously wanted to love it, i tried so hard but in the end i was disappointed.

For this reason alone i would class it as mature YA rather than NA. It has sex in it so do not go handing it out to your teenagers.. Can't recommend this one enough: Oct 17, Paula rated it liked it Shelves: I really try to stay away from spoilers. Where do I start with this book? I had a pretty good idea what happens in this book before I started it. What I didn't realize, however, is how emotionally involved I would get. Sterling made me fall in love with this couple, then ripped my heart out, and then put it back together. What an exhausting, crazy, emotional rollercoaster ride this story turned out to be.

Jack and Cassie met while at a frat party. Jack is your typical womanizing manwhore who thinks he can get any woman he wants, until he meets Cassie who won't give him the time of day. Well, Jack Carter is not used to any woman not paying attention to him. So, he pursues Cassie. He wants to take her on a date. And Jack Carter does not take any woman on a date. After relentlessly pursuing Cassie, she finally gives in to him. One date, she says. She doesn't want to give Jack anything. She knows he's a player and she will not be played. But she is attracted to his charm and gets to know him over burgers and fries.

He tells her things about himself that he doesn't tell anyone. In turn, Cassie opens up to Jack. Even though the date doesn't exactly go according to plan, they still hit it off. Cassie is now interested. Jack takes her home, kisses her, and asks her out again. She still doesn't trust that he can change but she is willing to give him a chance. She wants him to prove to her that he's a changed man. And they start dating. This relationship starts off really good.

They both have trust issues especially Cassie. Cassie's trust issues stem from her father who never follows through with anything he says. Because of this, it's hard for her to trust any man in her life. It's especially hard for her to trust Jack. Jack, who's has never been in a relationship before, and he keeps telling her that he knows he will screw up. Not only that, but Jack has flocks of girls that follow him around who will do anything to get him in bed. So yeah, Cassie has big trust issues. Jack refuses to let anything get in between him and Cassie. He is determined to make them work.

I really enjoyed the first half of this book. I loved the bantering and the flirting. Even wading through their issues didn't bother me. Most couples have issues of all kinds when they first start dating. I liked how they both have goals in their life. Cassie wants to be photographer and Jack wants to play baseball professionally. Things are good between them. The relationship is in a good place. Jack is traveling for his baseball.

The Perfect Game

Cassie is working hard in college. I should've known better than to think everything was going to stay blissful. Suddenly, things change dramatically over night between them. I loved and hated Jack Carter. He made a really bad decision. There is no excuse for what he did - plain and simple. I felt a lot of resentment towards him. Yet I also felt for the guy. I believed him when he said he was sorry. He knew he made a huge mistake.
