The Bride Next Door
This book is not yet featured on Listopia. This was a pleasant read and a fun step back into time. I enjoyed the setting and also seeing characters from the previous book. I liked that this could stand on it's own though. Daisy was a likable character. She's had a unconventional upbringing and gone through some trials that have made her a strong character.
She has spent the past few years living with her father who is peddler and never settled in one place for very long. She is excited when she is given the opportunity to live in Turnabou This was a pleasant read and a fun step back into time. She is excited when she is given the opportunity to live in Turnabout and finally settle down. She has big plans to open her own restaurant and hopefully one day marry and have a family of her own. I loved her upbeat and spunky personality.
I liked how she was hardworking and really wanted to open her own business. To be honest, I wasn't crazy about Everett. I was hoping he would grow on me as the book progressed, but he never really did. The overall story was good, but a little slow. It had a good start and I was excited to see Daisy and Everett butt heads, and they do have some good scenes together.
So, while it was a pleasant story I was kind of left feeling like nothing much really happened. It's a fun read if you're looking for a nice western setting romance. Received review copy from publisher in exchange for honest review.
The Bride Next Door (Texas Grooms, #2) by Winnie Griggs (3 star ratings)
Daisy has wanted to have a place of her own for a long time and when her father wins a building in a card game she is excited to begin her new life. What she did not expect was to have a grouchy neighbor who due to a innocent scandal becomes her husband. Everett only plans to stay in town long enough to let the problems from his past settle. When Daisy sweeps in and intrudes on his quite life he is not sure what to do.
Then he finds himself married to her. Can they find love in this untradition Daisy has wanted to have a place of her own for a long time and when her father wins a building in a card game she is excited to begin her new life. Can they find love in this untraditional marriage? This book was okay. It was a quick read and the story was interesting. I liked both Daisy and Everett. I also thought the plot was fun. What I did not like: The romance was so so. They disliked each other quite a bit at first and then they where married and it just seemed like the story was missing something in this area.
Over all I liked the book but it could have used a little more plot development at the end. This is the 2nd book in the series but can easily be read as a stand alone. Daisy's father won a piece of property in Turnabout through a poker match. Daisy claims the deed and makes her way to Turnabout to setup a restaurant and create a home for herself.
The property is a bit rundown, but a little hard work will go a long way. Daisy's building neighbor, Everett, is startled by this new townswoman. He's routine has been interrupted by Daisy, but he can't decide if this interruption is a bother or a possible blessing.
The Rancher's Courtship
The Bride Next Door is the second book in the series Daisy's father won a piece of property in Turnabout through a poker match. The couple from the previous story as well as other community members make appearances throughout the story. Book two focuses on Daisy and Everett with glimpses as the other characters. Daisy and Everett is a story about opposites. Everett wants to move and Daisy wants to set down roots. Once Upon A Thanksgiving: A Daddy for Christmas. The Gift Of Family: A Convenient Christmas Bride.
