Please try again later. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. Very much enjoy Frances Hodgson Burnett - her writing conveys such valuable principles which are still relevant in today's society. Her literary skills are enjoyable too. I sometimes suspect that her novels are aimed at a young reading public but as an very mature adult, I still enjoy them.

Couldn't put it down. Not as moving as Secret Garden but even better for plot and range of characters.

This was my favourite book as a kid and the only thing wrong as an adult is, it's shorter than I wanted. Sweet story of misery and discomfort that all turns out fine for everyone in the end.
