I loved this book from the beginning I could not put it down Southern Star Is about movie star aussie Actress Blaze Gillespie who her close male friend is murdered and is suspect. Blaze moves back to Queensland Meriwether to Sweet Springs left her by grandfather. Mac Black owns the neighbouring property Rosmeta. Once they meet sparks flying in the bedroom between them.

Mac helps Blaze hire Rowdy and Trent to renovate the house.

Then there is Paddy the stray dog that Blaze takes under wing. The Romance between Blaze Gillespie and Mac Black is one neither can denie end to deal with the loss of their baby as well. This was a story about finding love and place to call home. Hiding out to escape the press and the rumours and the stares, she makes a vow to restore the house to its former glory.

The loca Hollywood actress Blaze Gillespie has been plagued by one scandal after another. Macauley has built his huge cattle spread up from nothing. He watches Blaze transform Sweet Springs, putting in the hard yards herself. Away from the cameras and the Hollywood scene, she seems different. She wears many different faces and he is fascinated by them all. But trouble has followed Blaze from Hollywood all the way to rural Queensland.

But will anyone believe that the Hollywood movie star is actually in trouble instead of being the cause of it? She needs time away from the limelight and all the horrible things people are saying about her although she soon finds that those sorts of salacious stories have made it all the way to her new location. Blaze is a mix of bravado and vulnerability. She dives into fixing up the house with gusto, sanding back paint and scrubbing and cleaning and generally doing what she can. Her relationship with Macauley begins as mutual dislike and distrust. At first he has a lot to be suspicious about with Blaze and his arrogance rubs her the wrong way but they also have a lot of chemistry between them and neither of them mind a bit of giving in to it.

The chemistry is very good and the book was probably a bit blunter than I expected in terms of their attraction but I never really felt like it delved enough beneath the surface. The novel built the suspense side of the story really well for the most part but I do have to say that the perpetrator was a little bit of a letdown and the motivation disappointing.

It was also interesting to read about the way in which Blaze found herself in trouble and how the press reported anything as truth. Few people do what Blaze does in this story and address the rumours and articles head on…makes me wonder what the magazines would print if everyone did! Already the suspect in a murder case, devastation at a red carpet event sends her running back home to Queensland. Lucky for Blaze that neighbouring property owner Mac, begrudgingly has her best interests at heart. Expecting the promiscuous femme fatale of the tabloids, he reluctantly takes a liking to Blaze. As the sexual tension between the pair builds, Blaze tries to get her life back on track. Most of the small country town shuns her, but she manages to make a few unlikely friends — a pregnant teenager and an alcoholic handyman.

As Blaze recuperates and her relationship with Mac grows, danger lurks behind her. Who is behind a series of crimes in the small town? Are they linked to Blaze? Why are her things disappearing? The final scenes were very dramatic as both natural and physical threats descended on Blaze and Mac; however, it seemed to be over quite quickly. I would have liked it to be a bit more suspenseful and the natural disaster play a greater role what does this say about me and love of character torture?! As for the romance, I liked how it progressed fairly quickly, not remaining as unresolved sexual tension for almost the entire book.

The supporting characters were great — really well written and interesting. I flew through this book — almost going into meltdown when I left my ereader at home! It was very enjoyable — a great read for a long hot summer. C Grey is a romantic mystery predominately set in outback Queensland, though does share a glimpse of Hollywood too.

Blaze Gillespie is a Hollywood star who flees to Queensland as boyfriend's murder has created a big scandal and her reputation is in tatters. Blaze is suspicious of those around her, there's more scandalising information breaking the front page newspaper even in outback QLD as her reputation seems to follow her like a bad smell. A smell she just can't seem to shake. But when Macauley Black who doesn't give a damn about her Hollywood rendezvous and glitzy lifestyle shows an interest in her, Blaze is tempted beyond her self-control.

In between renovating the homestead and trying to make up her mind whether she loves or hates Macauley, there's also danger lurking in the background for Blaze. Trouble has followed her from the US, locals are being targeted and all roads lead back to Blaze. I enjoyed the mystery and the stark contrast between the life Blaze leaves behind compared to the one she sinks her feet into in outback QLD. Blaze and Macauley have great chemistry and I liked the protective, solid stance that he takes in her life. Even if he is a bit of a Neanderthal! My only criticism about the romance is that I felt they acted on their sexual tension quite quickly, at a point where it didn't feel very believable that they would take that next step.

And since the rest of the story builds on this sexual relationship they begin, I found the depths of their feelings for each other hard to believe- especially given their backgrounds of not trusting the opposite sex.

Southern Star was a very entertaining read. I loved the setting, the chemistry between the hero and heroine was sizzling and the suspense just added that element of danger. Well worth the read May 27, Mary Monks rated it really liked it. I found this book, set in rural Australia, very entertaining.

The main character was somewhat larger than life, but I warmed to her as she had a generous soul under her glitzy exterior. There were a couple of parts where I thought "You've gotta be kidding" for example: How likely is that? Parts are quite raunchy, but it is not overdone, so if it annoys you, you can skim over those I found this book, set in rural Australia, very entertaining. There is an element of suspense when it looks like Blaze is in danger, and the author cleverly draws you in to the conclusion.

If you want a light, entertaining read, then this book is for you.
