Lily is off to meet her father that she knew nothing about, however a different man, Sebastian, meets her instead. Sebastian thinks Lily is up to something, perhaps hurting Hugo the way her mother did years ago. He is continuously mean to her, but Lily perseveres. She has her own reasons for being there and in search of some family since hers is gone. Hugo is not like the HP Hs that you read so much about because his explanation for leaving Lily, given by Sebastian, seems very weak.

Yeah I suppose it sets up the story but he could have fought more for what he claimed to have wanted so bad instead of being so passive.

Fine upstanding Sebastian wants Lily even though he already has a GF. Mistress on His Terms Generally I'd review the book I've been avidly catching up on reading her books since I just recently discovered them. This book is pretty good--the other reviewers that said positive things were right! The negative reviewer I'm not sure what they read--but this book rocks! The H in this book was just too childish.

From the first chapter when the h steps off the plane H is condecending, rude, and obnoxious. It doesn't get any better throughout the whole relationship. He barley shows any caring when h is having a tough time coming to grips with the loss of her parents just six months before. He's accusatory, there is never any trust and while h stands up for herself at a few points it is not enough to make H really see her as a person and not just someone he can use to get his own way.

The actual plot of this book is that Lily is the biological daughter of Hugo, Sebastian's stepfather. After her parents die, Lily finds out that the man she had thought to be her father was actually her adopted father and that Hugo lives on the other side of the country. She goes to visit and doesn't get off to a great start with Sebastian.

He is a lawyer who feels deeply loyal to his stepfather and is suspicious of Lily's motives. Nonetheless, they feel attracted to each other and even after they consummate their attraction there are obstacles to overcome. Sebastian seems like a jerk in the beginning but when he starts to feel helpless towards his feelings for Lily he becomes more human.

Especially when he tries to persuade Lily to not take tests to see if she may be eligible for a kidney donor when Natalie, their mutual sister might need one. He says its because he loves her too much and can't handle losing her on top of losing his sister. Talk about keeping it in the family and all but he is really crazy about Lily. It is one of CS best books. I loved this book and I am glad that I bought it. It is heartfelt story that I highly recommend.

Spencer has done it again! She's created a fast-paced story with wonderful characters. I love how the mighty Sebastian meets his match with Lily.

This is definitely another keeper! Spencer is the Queen of Romance, in my books.
