A Helping Hand
Unfortunately, due to restrictions by the state, we are not paid enough live on.
This is a second job for most of us. The client I work with is a friend. We are a good company they pay every two weeks and they give us a lisit to do what needs to be done with client if you cant do whats on. I feel sorry for the the clients. I feel sorry for the clients. I hope they are treated much better than the employees. It seems as though they have many different caregivers for a client, if that was the case with my family I would be unhappy with different caregivers each day.
Pay was VERY little. I accepted as I had just moved to the area. I was told they had a position about 20 minutes from me. Not knowing the area, I accepted. Turns out it was 55 minutes away! I believe she lied on purpose because they seemed desperate as the job was last minute. The other caregiver was a half hour late arriving, making my shift over 12 hours.
Management did not answer when I called with an issue. They tried holding my last check from me. Would not recommend this company. Not for employees or clients. Great Company to work for. They respect Caregivers, use messaging system to communicate about work schedules which I like it Because you can get as many hours as you want if you have time to work.
You will not regret if you start work with them. Good pay, Thank you cards, gift cards they offer, paid vacation hours. I learned to appreciate hard work. A typical day at work can be enjoyful because I understand my clients needs and have much patience for them because I know they do the very best they can for themselves.
The stressful part about it is,it requires using a lot of mileage when you don't get compensated for it,and it's low paying for what services are being rendured, and they take too much taxes when you aren't making much as it is. Don't get me wrong,I'm forever greatful, and very passionate about what it is I do,but I see that it is worth more benefits. It was great meeting new people and the hours are flexible and the management team was great too. This is an excellent position for anyone looking for a future in either health care or social work.
I have been working with a client in the Manhattan area since February of this year and could not be more pleased. The supervisors stop out all the time to check on my client which I really appreciate. They have a caring approach to things and work with me even though my schedule can be somewhat difficult to accommodate. The clients and my coworkers are amazing.
COURTNEY DAVIS, FOUNDER / CEO
I feel blessed to work at A Helping Hand. The owner is incredible. Very flexible work and scheduling atmosphere. The staff wasn't very dependable. Some of the patients were rude and demanding. Unfortunately, i learned more at school than working on the job. I was very disappointed in the way A Helping Hand was ran. You could tell they were only looking for money and did not actually care about their clients. They also treated their staff with absolutely no respect. The clients are amazing and if it weren't for the horrible management I would of stayed a long time.
I wish they would appreciate employees and clients more. They will also take advantage of how much you work if you allow them to do so. MGMT is slow in response and lacks communication skills to colleagues. No real interactive skills, very disorganized and reliant on others. There are better companies out there than Helping Hands. Not the best job for a college student. While I did enjoy my time at this company, they did not respect the hours I was available to work and often scheduled me on my days off.

For a busy college student this job was a bit hard to manage. This is truly a wonderful company to work for. If you think otherwise you are not doing your job correctly. Very accommodating and understanding. So Far, So Good. I was hired on at A Helping Hand about three months ago and have really enjoyed it so far. I've met a lot of clients and coworkers and every one is very friendly!
The hours are great and flexible and the hiring process seemed to go pretty quickly. The pay is competitive and the office staff is friendly.

I've been employed at A Helping Hand for going on four weeks now and want to review several areas: Training - the training supervisor has shows me how to do transfers, brief changes, safe showers, and introduces me to all of my new clients. I feel safe and secure when going to the homes because of my excellent training.
Whenever I call for tips and advice they send her right over. Schedules - My class schedule changes with little notice and the office ladies worked with me to get my hours switched over to no interfere with my classes.
