The headscarf, hooked on my finger, shifted floorward, then skyward, before collapsing with ballerina grace in my hands. I stared in dismay at the mess of fabric. I scrambled for my headscarf, curse the sodding thing, and wheeled away, consumed by full-body flaming shame. The receptionist leapt out of her chair. Would you like some pins? Damn this rotten scarf. And damn me for swimming into the end of the freaking pool.

When I returned, headscarf secured to hurricane-proof standards, Gary took me on the grand tour of Tourism and Travel. Nervous anticipation fluttered in my belly, only partly due to the scarf. Could I make it work? Gary stopped and opened a door with a flourish. I walked over to the window. Lush lines of oak trees and a green expanse of park stared back up at me. Pleasure swelled in my chest. As far as London views went, this was pretty damn good. My fingers strayed yet again to my headscarf. Gary turned and led me in the other direction. We reached the kitchenette.

Characters like Jim and Liz help Becs as she barrels her way through bad choices and worse lies. There are several characters that cause h I started the book late in the evening and read until I finished it early the next morning. There are several characters that cause her a lot of hurt. I leave it to you to sort them all out. Then she finds herself in the presence of a real live hero. When the fantasy and the reality of the hero gets blurred, she finds herself running away from him and running into him all the time.

Matt Frobisher is a good looking should I say, a very good looking man that has sworn to be a bachelor his entire life. The entire office knows this about him and accepts it. When the new girl in the office finds out who he is, she is so shocked and the more she finds out about him the more enamored she becomes. All the while fighting herself.

Then Becky chooses to make a monumental mistake. This is where the trouble starts in earnest. This book is fun, hilarious, and tender. It also made me sad to see what can happen when people are not honest and listen to bad advice from their friends. Sexy Chocolate Voice is none other than her new boss. Now this causes a problem for her, because she is very attracted to him and she does not want to have a relationship with her boss. This job means too much for her to mess it up by getting involved with him. As the story moves along, we watch her struggle with her attraction to her boss Matt.

He seems to be attracted to her too, even if he's a confirmed bachelor. I loved how Matt seemed to be in the right place at the right time to help her out with certain circumstances. Then Becky did something I felt was really terrible to fight her attraction for Matt. It made me angry and I felt she was too stupid to live. Things just seemed to get even worse for her at this point. I may not have liked what she did, but because of it the story took a turn, and I found her actions at this point making the story even more interesting to read.

We got to read about her struggle to start a new life and career. What was really special is, that we watched Becky grow into a stronger person. To tell the truth, I did not like her much until this part of the story. There were a few more things that held me back from loving this story. I felt the ending was just too abrupt, and it really could have been so much more if an epilogue would have been included. A Heat of The Moment Thing was a good read for me, but not great.

The story line was VERY interesting and it kept me turning the pages. Aug 07, Robyn Koshel rated it it was amazing. I loved the writing style of the book. Although, Becky did some things I may not agree with, the novel was so well written — I immediately understood why she did those things and empathized with her. Becky sure made me laugh and go down memory lane to revisit my own relationship disasters.

It is perfect for fans of Jenny Colgan and Sophie Kinsella. I highly recommend this enjoyable light-hearted read.

I couldn't put this book down. I loved the main character and the opening chapter made me laugh out loud, with more of these funny moments shown throughout the book. Will be reading the Maggie Le Page's next book definitely! I was giving this book from the author in exchange for a review. I would give this book a 3. I wish we could do half stars on goodreads. It was an entertaining, quick, easy read.

I enjoyed reading the book and cared enough about the characters to get annoyed with Becky, the main character, for some of her assumptions and choices she made. I enjoyed the romance between Becky and Matt and appreciated that the author didn't feel the need to turn the romance into book porn, like so many other ro I was giving this book from the author in exchange for a review.

I think most women would really enjoy reading this book. I would rate it higher but I got stuck on view spoiler [ how Becky is such a cliche character. She is a very insecure girl, not happy with how she looks, even though she is beautiful.

She has sworn off men forever but really wants that happily ever after. She is just starting her new job and falls in love with her gorgeous, perfect boss. At one point they get stuck in an elevator and surprisingly they start kissing to get over her claustrophobia. There are many misunderstandings throughout the book and assumptions made from Becky and because of her insecurities doesn't talk to Matt about them.

She ends up sleeping with an old flame from school, who is also gorgeous and owns a porsche, to try to forget about Matt. She has hated this old flame for years because he didn't treat her well but when she saw his porsche, she jumped in and thought why not. Her old flame shows up at a work event and tells Matt he was sleeping with Becky and Matt ended it with Becky, without letting her try to explain.

Instead of sticking it out and trying to communicate with Matt, Becky takes off for months. Of course they do end up together in the end. For me, I would have liked to be surprised in the novel, like maybe they didn't end up together, because in real life that's what often happens, or that Becky wasn't so insecure or predictable. I am not really sure what I would have wanted to be different but I just would have liked to be surprised. Overall I did enjoy the book and appreciate the opportunity to read it. This book is about Becky who has a accident at the beginning of the book and her hero turns out to be her new boss.

She falls head of heels for him and can't even take a slight touch from him without sparks flying. As much as she tries to avoid him it is impossible to and each encounter the feelings add up. Becky hasn't had much lucky in the romance field and tried to make every excuse that Matt isn't good for her and she vowed she wouldn't create another work romance after her last ex-boyfriend.

Matt on the other hand is the perfect gentlemen that all woman want but also has baggage of his own between a short lived engagement and wheelchair bound brother you would think he wouldn't fall for Becky. Becky sure tried to make every excuse not to love him but she knew she couldn't and began to let her guard down and let him enter her life. Pretty much all of her past relationships turned ugly but something told her that Matt was different - he seemed genuine for her.

A past boyfriend from high school joins the picture and it makes you question Becky's next move, it keeps you active and drawing you into the story for find out what happens next. Some twists and turned make you want to not out this book down! Sometimes books that involve a lot of romance tend to forget about adding a story and I found this to be a perfect balance of both. Thankful I had a chance to have a read of this book and looking forwards to the authors next book. Le Page wrote a great book. The first chapter, probably not intended to be was hilarious.

A great way to meet the hero of the story without realizing it until she shows up to work. The way she shrugged off knowing him was comical. I enjoyed the building of their relationship rather than what has become the norm with lust being confused for love. Matt being a realistic character, none of the bad boy attributes. He was a very sweet, caring likable character with a heart of gold. I do wish that it had delved more into his family life; where was his mother, where did she leave to that he became guardian to Stef?

I loved how Becky was witty and strong; she had a tendency to overthink and make situations more difficult than necessary.

Which all of us have been guilty of. Becky became a very real character whom I could relate to without any difficulty. The way Becky tried to avoid any type of intimate relationship with Matt was hilarious at times. Choosing to put work before relationships; especially with her boss was a sound decision. Especially since she'd been burnt by a similar experience. The tension between them only helped to establish that their feelings were more than just lust. The twist of Charlie and Dani was funny and proved that one mistake can make your whole world come crashing down.

The way Becky left it all behind, to me, felt a little selfish I wanted her to fight harder. However, after the way she changed and grew as a person while being away from London in the end it was the best thing for her. It gave her time to find out who she is; which couldn't hurt anyone. A great read; thank you Maggie for the opportunity to review your book! Wow and Wow I rather enjoyed reading this book a lot and now that i finished the story I'm really hoping for another one to leading to what happens after Becky and Matt get together again.

I got upset when Becky was upset I felt like i was living it with her, right down to the part I thought the bus crash was the end. Maggie did an awesome job writing this book it was sad, funny and had a dangerous side to it that was great I'm looking forward to read more by Maggie. I found myself loving that Becky had a a guy roommate who to me was down right funny I laughed at all the things he said to Becky, Matt was great loved that he had a nice caring heart didn't like that he wouldn't listen to Becky in Dublin glad they got over it in the end!! Charles what a joke like he comes out of no where and just ruins Becky's life well the good parts she had going for her and for what nothing!! May 27, Renee Rain rated it really liked it.

I immediately took to Becky and her almost comical way of looking at life. She is fairly insecure and seems to be a little impulsive at times. She gets herself into situations that make you want to laugh and feel bad for her at the same time. The incident at the pool had me thinking that she was going to die, get amnesia or maybe the story was starting at the end- but it was actually a great way to initi A Heat Of The Moment Thing by Maggie Le Page is a nice change from the average romance novel!

Then starting new job just days later and finding that her hero Mr. Chocolate voice is her new boss Matt- just perfect! I love the interactions that the characters have with each other. Their conversations and arguments let each personality show and I love when an author is able to give distinct personalities and keep them clear. For example Dani is completely different from Becky and reminds me of a sassy character from Sex in the City.

Now for the romance part, Maggie Le Page has a way of stirring emotions which give more life to the story. Things get warm, dead cold, then steaming hot. At the end, Becky gets her man? This is definitely a page turner that I would recommend to be read. A gorgeous, charming man saves her life. Even though she wants to see him again, the last place she expects to see him is at her new dream job…as her new boss. Been there, done that. While the last quarter of the book seemed a little slow-paced and the ending seemed abrupt, the rest of the book was borderline perfect. The plot was entertaining and the characters were unforgettable. And the absolute best part was the romance between Becky and Matt. It was believable and incredibly sweet. While romance is definitely prominent in this story, A Heat of the Moment Thing is also about a woman finding herself and learning to follow her heart. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read more from this talented author. Just about everything that can happen, happens to this girl in no particular order: The characters are very real and have real problems. Matt is an incredible hero figure who I absolutely loved. I wished that Becky and Matt would have come right out and had conversations about dating, commitment, their pasts, etc. Would have saved them a lot of trouble, but then we wouldn't have much of a story, now would we? Overall, a well-written debut. Very simple writing, but in a witty way. I will be keeping an eye out for Maggie's next book!

Copy of the book provided in exchange for an honest review I have just one word to describe Maggie's book: When I first started reading it I honestly thought it was going to be like every otger chick lit book, but I was so mistaken. It's funny, it's romantic and it has a lot of relatable situations. I, too, work at an office, and I, like Becky, have to face awkward situations and meet deadlines and deal with hot guys.

Maggie does an extraordinary job describing them all. She doesn't use complicated words and her writing is for everyone. The onl I have just one word to describe Maggie's book: The only three things I didn't like very much were these: I guess there are a lot af situations that could've been avoided so the book would be shorter. The third and final thing was the ending. We all know that the main characters are gonna end up together no matter what that's the beauty of chick lit but this one was very rush.

In spite of these three things, I loved the book so much because it has just the right amount of everything and I had to stay awake till three or four in the morning just so I could read more of it. Plus Maggie herself is very nice and sweet. This book is a must-read, must-buy and must-recommend. If this doesn't become a best seller, the world doesn't make sense, then.
