Bitten Cold *A Short Vampire Erotica Story*

Dark Erotic Stories [May. Some authors did a fine job, others failed by fundamentally misunderstanding what erotica is it ain't just a story with a sex scene, folks! Dark Erotic Stories , edited by Susie Bright, is a first for me--an anthology mostly populated by erotica writers mixing their craft with dark fiction. The first thing I noticed is that this approach is much more sex-positive. That said, I do wish there had been a little more darkness present in the anthology. Sure there are stories of erotic encounters with demons, angels, incubi, vampires and other otherworldly entities, and a few stories that tread the boundaries of the fantastic in other ways, but a fair number of them had no suspense or speculative element at all.

Granted, that may be my own fault for perhaps unfairly expecting certain things from a dark erotica anthology--there's certainly no reason every story has to have magic or monsters--but some stories here barely qualify as dark. A fair number of them were no different from what you might find in any erotica anthology, and being something of an aficionado of dark fiction, I wanted more darkness. I wasn't familiar with most of the authors in Bitten. I'd heard of Francesca Lia Block, of course, and apparently author Sera Gamble writes for the TV show Supernatural , but not knowing most the authors' work beforehand is sometimes a good thing.

It keeps you open minded, opens you up to possibilities--just as the best erotica can. As with any anthology, there are stories you like and others you find a little flat. It's subjective, and unsurprisingly I found myself drawn to the stories here that featured dark speculative elements: Gamble's "The Devil's Invisible Scissors" is a scorching hot tale of a demon who's grown tired of stealing her lover's souls.

Anne Tourney's "The Resurrection Rose" is a dark fantasy about immortality, sex and trying to run from one's past crimes. Allison Lawless' "The Unfamiliar" focuses on a young woman who accidentally summons The One Who Will Satisfy You out of her aunt's spellbook and winds up freeing a dangerous, if talented, entity. Stewart's "Cross-Town Incubus" is one of the hottest stories in the book, about a woman who discovers an incubus in her boyfriend's apartment who satisfies her desires a lot better than her boyfriend does.

In Patrice Suncircle's "Master Sarah," a sculptor recounts to her suitor the story of a time she made love to a wounded angel, and how she has been trying unsuccessfully to sculpt that creature ever since. Block's "Lay Me Out Softly" is a dark fairy tale of lovers drawn to each other lifetime after lifetime, plus a serial killer and some bossy severed heads. Ernie Conrick's "Get Thee Behind Me, Satan" is perhaps the darkest of all the stories here, focusing on a bisexual man who makes a deal with the Devil to increase his wife's libido and sexual adventurousness, with devastating results.

But erotica isn't just about the strength of plot and character. It has another criterion for success too--whether or not it turns you on. Here, all the stories in Bitten , including the ones I didn't like as much, succeed admirably. A talented collection of authors exist between this book's covers, and even if they don't all know how to make a story dark, they clearly know how to make it hot. Log in No account? Once again the author tells a tale that holds the reader in its grips until the very end and leaves them wanting more.

Great story line and characters with the he Finally a new book by this author and what a book!! Great story line and characters with the heat her readers have come to expect. ARC for an honest review This book was over too fast. Great, fantastic, but over too fast. I wanted more especially after a glimpse of Gia and the other girls. I want the next book now! Generation after generation, they keep hunting making it dangerous to go out and feed. They are starvin In the summer of hunters wiped out all male vampire in a vicious battle. This will bring the donors to them, ending their need to leave in order to feed and find men, change them over to become soldiers to aid them in the fight against the hunters. But nothing could have perpared Caressa for what came next His name is Noah and things are about to get very real very quickly!

I am actually amazed at how much detail went into this fast read.. Both voice actors are very talented and kept me enthralled from beginning to end! I can't wait to listen to more performances by them: This series must be listened to or read in order. This is the first book. I can't wait to listen to or read the next one! Carissa has taken responsibility for the rest of her female only vampire Coven.

It is her job to keep them all safe All the males were killed by Hunters long ago. Not that they were much of a prize to begin with. Sexually insatiable, they treated the women they turned like their own personal harem of sex slaves. How will they survive against the Hunters without any male vampires?

After living so long without the overbearing presence of male Vampires, would they be able to survive their presence? Are they better off without male Vampires? Why is she so drawn to the human male Noah? What makes him so irresistible? Should she risk it all and reveal her secret, their secret, to him?

Oct 28, Susan rated it it was amazing. I've always been a fan of Nicole's writing, and this one did not disappoint. Caressa is doing what she can to provide for herself and her vampire sisters after Hunters have taken out most of their kind. So she and her sisters open up Club Blood.

An underground club for the humans to drink and party, and the vampires to have a source of food, with no killing. Noah arrives to make a delivery one night and Noah and Caressa are drawn to one another. One of my favorites is the klutzy Great, fast read! One of my favorites is the klutzy moments Noah has, especially the scene when he makes his delivery. Now I just hope that there is a future book with Gia and Rhett.

The leading man I sweat kindhearted hunk of a man called Noah, can Caressa turn him into a warrior, will he be hers and only hers or will he be like all the male vampires she has ever known.

OMG what a fantastic read by Nicole Garcia. With intrigue and sexiness, I couldn't put it down. A fast read that will leave you wanting more. The Vampires are being eradicated by The Hunters, humans that are trained to hunt them down. Forced to keep inside Caressa and her small coven are surviving in a night club by luring in customers so they can feed, to build up their strength, to convert more vampires to fight off The Hunters.

When Noah brings by a wine delivery, Caressa is immediately attracted to him and it is mutual for Noah. When he keeps coming by, Caressa is having difficulty fighting the desire she feels. Nov 02, Porchia rated it it was amazing. This is book 1 in the Club Blood series. Caressa is in charge of her coven of vampires and has been taking care of them for a long time. Her coven is made up of all women and they now are looking for big guys to turn and make an arm to protect them.

Noah is big, hot and everything Caressa could want in a man. But she does not want to turn him and lose the sweet guy she has come to care for. This is a wonderful story, looking forward to the next in the series. Nov 13, A.

Publication Order of Chicagoland Vampires Books

McCarty rated it it was amazing. Doing what anyone would do that has to take over the lead role of a group, Caressa does her best to protect her little coven and provide for them and herself. It is one difficult task. In walks Noah and that task may just get that much harder for Caressa and her sisters.

This book is fun and sweet. It is a fast read, but it is very well worth it.

Full review to come after publication day. I received this novella in exchange for an honest review. I would have purchased this story if I knew about this book. Looks like I am going to have to go through Nicole Garcia's catalog to figure out what else she has been hiding from me. Let me just start off by saying I love me some Nicole Garcia. She is an amazing writer and also just an amazing human being. I had no idea who this amazing writer was until this year. Her writing style is great. This book is short and sweet and to the poin I received this novella in exchange for an honest review.

This book is short and sweet and to the point. When the story opens we see the heroine, Caressa, ready to fight for her coven and for her life. After her coven gets destroyed Caressa takes on the role of being Mama Bear to a handful of vampires left over from the massacre. The hero, Noah, is your typical alpha male. He is caring, sweet, and knows what he wants in life. I enjoyed the pairing between the hero and the heroine. Since this is such a quick read there are times where I wanted more information. It is like we just get the bare bones of what is going on and it doesn't go in depth.

I wish this was a book verses a novella. The good thing about this being a novella is that each new novela we will get more and more information about the coven itself and also all the characters that we were introduced to. There are two novellas in the series so far however I really hope that each character gets their own story.
