Absence of the Normal (Friends From Damascus Book 5)

Hard to put down; easy to pick up, it's a fine read for those who like this genre. Just one super read with loads of action. Wolfgang Krueger, call sign "Wolfman" is one of the founding member of the Friends from Damascas counter terrorism unit. He's the demolitions expert for the team and one hell of a guy in a firefight. The Friends don't work for any Govt and have the backing of none of them even though they are putting bad guys away wherever they find them.

Who exactly backs the friends with money, arms and munitions is something only Brett Morgan, the leader knows. Something he won't tell anyone even his team. In fact most of the Govt's out there are trying to capture the Friends. Not to reward them, but to put them away or kill them. The group is seen as rogues who can't be controlled.

Bounties from the Govt's, the jihadists and the Russian mafia and anyone else who has a bone to pick with the Friends. Of course the Friends are doing something the Govt's can't or won't do. They are putting the jihadists and the suppliers of the jihadists to death.

Krueger is between missions right now and he wants to climb K2. Krueger is a great mountaineer. He's climbed just about every major peak out there and K2 is his next project. The weather isn't cooperating though and Krueger's wishs are a bust right now.

Krueger is also quite a ladies man. He's extremely good looking and has no problem attracting the ladies. He's also got a well honed body from years in Spec-Ops and training.

He's one great looking guy. He does attract a lovely lady at the hotel where he is staying and they spend the night together. She turns out to be an assassin who's after the million dollar bounty on his head. An assassin he kills before she can kill him. Krueger then heads for Munich where in a strange set of events he meets one Eve Drexler. Eve was a member of Mossad.

She and her team were ambushed. All of her team were killed and she survived a bullet in her brain. Eve survived and has been on medical leave for two years. Her doctors have told her the bullet still in her brain can kill her at any time. The man responsible for the ambush was a contact who had set the team up. The Death Merchant was the intended target.

The Death Merchant is an arms dealer. He sells to anyone and is responsible for death and destruction in many countries. He payed the contact more and was able to eliminate Eve and her team. Eve's old boss has contacted her and told her the contact who betrayed her team has been found. Eve volunteers to go after him. Revenge is on her mind. Eve is also a moutaineer and when she and Krueger come together its one hell of a story.

This one has death, destruction, Krueger and Eve pretty much on their own, the Death Merchant, his henchmen, the Russian Mafia, the price on Kruegers head, the sale of missles, the team coming together,a chase across Europe to Istanbul, a fight in Pakistan, the death of a teammate and one super read.
