Un huésped inesperado (Julia) (Spanish Edition)
We had a rental car and he arranged parking for us and even met us on a main street and got in the car to help us find the apartment and the parking garage. This saved us so much time and headache as the one way streets in Sevilla can be quite confusing! He also provided us with some cold Sangria upon arrival and gave us many good recommendations. His favorite restaurant in Triana was one of our favorite meals of the trip!
He also arranged for us to go to a Flamenco show, which I highly recommend. The apartment is on a great street right next to the cathedral.
One note, the apartment did get very warm during the day, not ideal for a siesta, but it definitely cooled down at night making sleeping comfortable. Ana's place was clean and right in the heart of Seville. Easy walking distance to major attractions and has a super market very close by. Would happily stay there again. Ana Maria's place is one of the best Airbnb's we stayed at in Spain! It is clean, spacious, and very well located. Everything we wanted to see was easily walkable from the apartment. We had a private bathroom that was down the hall, in a private hallway with only our room.
She provided shampoo, soap, and towels, with towel warmer. Laura gave us excellent recommendations on where to go, and where to eat. She also provided us with a map. I highly recommend staying here! Great stay for Semana Santa or anytime! The apartment is centrally located and the host was super great about providing tips to the guests on where to go for food and sites! There are multiple rooms available so be sure to look at all of the listings before booking.
All of the other guests were wonderful as well while I was there. Would definitely book again. The flat was good in the center city but we couldn't access to the kitchen. Even if it's write on the guide it's disappointing to haven't a kitchen in an Airbnb. This apartment locates in the heart of Seville and everything was within walking distance. Victoria, who helped me check in, was very kind, responsive with my messages, and just a lovely human being. I just wish that they had a communal fridge so that I could store some of the small snacks such as yogurt and soft drinks.
Overall, I had a great stay. We had a great stay at Ana Maria's. The location of the apartment is perfect. The room itself was clean, spacious and comfortable. We had various type of pillows to choose from which is quite nice. The towels were of a good size, another plus. Ana Maria was very kind and provided us with a map of the city and recommendations. Overall we felt comfortable being there as we did not feel we were invading someone's home.

There was lots of privacy. Inma's welcome was warm, and her apartment very comfortable, quiet, and in the middle of everything in Seville. My one regret is that I didn't stay longer. Seville is an amazing town, and I look forward to returning again and again. The apartment building is all marble floors and columns, and the apartment itself is spacious, attractive, and a wonderful sanctuary after a day's exploring.
Because it is on a pedestrian street, it is quiet even though in the very heart of Sevilla. Thanks you so very much for making my first taste of Seville so special Inma! Live in a cozy palace, with lots of plants and sunlight! From the pretty courtyard to the comfortable apartment with welcoming touches of flowers set throughout, everything was perfect since we walked into the place. Inma was a great host who guided us through best places to see and experience! My friend recommended this place and now I get to recommend it to everyone going to Sevilla! The apartment is very centrally located in the charming historic part of Seville.
It was clean and well equipped. All of the main sites in Seville are within 10 minutes walk of the apartment. Inmaculada is a very nice host. They picked us from Sevilla airport A service they offer for a fee and if they have free time and mentioned several things we could do in Sevilla. The apartment is in a romantic old building at the centre of Sevilla, within 15 minutes walking distance of pretty much all the tourist spots Except maybe the Sevilla expo site but you can also get there walking.
The apartment also has many tourist service provider booklets. I felt the area is very safe and quiet, but I'd make sure I have a map, because the historical centre of Sevilla can be quite confusing for a tourist. Inma and her husband are very nice people. The flat was perfectly clean and very beautifully located in an urban "palacio", at the very center of Sevilla. We could do all our visits by foot from there. The bed was comfortable.
We weren't lucky with the temperature since we stayed in Sevilla during a quite cool period and the flat was a little cold. But there was a heater which was ok to heat the bedroom. A perfect place in the heart of beautiful Sevilla, comfortable rooms, very well equipped kitchen, nice patio in the house. Inma and her husband were very kind, because we stayed longer they came in to change the bed linen and everything worked OK. We recomend this place to everyone, especially those who like privacy, quiet place.
Also the appartment was nicely furnished, Inma apparently has a good taste in furniture and decorations: The apartment is just as beautiful in real life as in the photos. Inma was a great host - she made us feel so welcome and was really helpful with transfers to and from the airport. The place is perfectly located with a real Sevillian feel. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here.
The apartment is very well located.
You can reach everything by feet in few minutes. It has all the amenities indicated in the description. The apartment is great! We were welcomed very friendly and got a lot of helpfull information. The rooftopterrace is a fantastic place to have breakfast. The only thing we didn't like was the streetnoise on saturdaynight, but you cannot really do something about that when you're located so well in the city centre. We absolutely loved staying at Barbara's flat. The location was fantastic and really allowed us to explore Seville.
Barbara was a lovely host and was ready with all the information we needed at check in. She even texted me extra details she thought we would need. The flat was lovely- very clean and with all the little touches needed for a great stay. We really loved the roof terrace for a break at the end of the day. This flat is absolute perfection and so is Barbara! She is so helpful! The flat is wonderful, clean and comfortable! It felt like home away from home!
We had a lovely stay at Barbara's apartment. She was a lovely and helpful post and the apartment is beautiful. Amazing location, walking distance of everything, and close to great restaurants and bars. The home and location are stunning. Just be prepared for street noise. I would return in a heartbeat: I could live in this apartment forever it's beautiful. What's not to LOVE lots of space, comfortable bed, great roof top deck, and Barbara is a wonderful host.
We would definitely stay here again and recommend it. A warm welcome late at night. The flat is well placed for all the main sights with the roof terrace a great bonus. Very comfortable, clean and well equipped apartment in an excellent central location. The apartment is in an old building but had a very modern feel to it inside. Despite the central location it was very quiet and we had 4 excellent nights sleep in the comfortable king size bed. David's communication was excellent and he met us on arrival and showed us around and gave us tips on the different areas of the city and where to go to eat.
There is a supermarket next door with everything you need and great bakeries, cafes and restaurants very close by. The city itself is easy to explore on foot once you've got the hang of all the narrow streets and alleyways but even if you get a little lost there is so much to see that you can easily stumble upon something interesting and unexpected.
We visited Real Alcazar which I would thoroughly recommend and for great views over the city Metropol Parasol The Mushroom is worth a visit. This was our first time out of the UK for 13 years and we plan more city breaks in the near future and if all the apartments we stay in are as good as this I will be very happy. The apartment is ina historic building and everything is clean and works well.
David is a super host who always answers all messages timely and fully. The location is perfect and close to all shops, restaurants, etc. What a great experience! My wife, 7 month old boy, and myself stayed in the apartment and had no issues what so ever. Daniel responded promptly during all communications and was exceedingly polite and informative upon meeting at the apartment. He gave us plenty of recommendations, a tour of the apartment, and even a bottle of wine.
I would stay here every time I come to Seville if I could! Great value and location, we saw everything and never took a cab. We loved the apartment and the bed was comfy. We would highly recommend it for anyone looking to stay like a local in Sevilla. David's apartment in Calle San Isidoro was very clean and comfortable and central to all the main tourist locations which were all within walking distance. David responded very quickly to all my queries and we were met on arrival by the very friendly Marta who gave us lots of helpful suggestions about where to eat and booked our flamenco show at the local flamenco museum which was brilliant and just round the corner.
There was a useful little supermarket just outside and we appreciated the bottle of wine waiting for us although sadly forgot to take it! I would definitely recommend this place to stay in Seville. It is unfortunate that we can only give David and his property 5 stars. He recommended the best parking location, the best restaurants, and guided us to the most important things to see and do in Seville. He even met us at the parking garage to assist with our baggage. The apartment is exactly as described, cozy, clean and in the best central historic location.
We highly recommend it! David's apartment was great, exactly as the photos and listing described in a central location, a 5 minute walk to the cathedral. David made arrival easy and gave us great recommendations for restaurants and bars, including some within a 2 minute walk. There was nothing to fault, I would stay here again. This is basically ok for sevilla. Location is good but the place could do with some more TLC such as clean things in the kitchen, hand soap in the bathroom, no full smelly trashcans when you arrive, and some towels that don't look as though they have survived 1 million washes.
We had several friends and relatives staying in air bnbs around the city without such issues. Rafael was an amazing host. He organised a place for us to leave our bags when we arrived early, gave us a rundown of the city, assisted us in printing off our boarding passes for the next flight and even invited us for a beer. The apartment is in the perfect location with Seville's sights all within walking distance. The flat was very nice with an amazing terrace, and in the heart of Seville. Rafael and Amparo very kind with us, helped with the logistics, accommodated our arrival time..
We had a very nice stay in the flat, it is quiet and perfectly located. The terrace has a nice view and is perfect for breakfast. Thanks to the flat we really felt at home in Sevilla. We enjoyed a lot our stay in Sevilla and Rafael's apartment was a big part of it. We arrived quite late at night and his daughter Irene was waiting for us to give us the keys and explained us everything about the Website hidden by Airbnb location is very central, we could walk to all the touristic places Rafael paid a lot of attention to details.
He left maps, a list of recommended restaurants, a special drink from Sevilla as a welcome gift, and even a novel on Spanish history in English. We arrived at the beginning of the feria and he even invited us to his caseta at the Sevilla Fair. We had a very good experience. I would definitely recommend his place. A lovely apartment in a historic mansion. Best choice in Seville. Rafael is very hospitable, the suggestion and recommendations he gave us about bar and restaurants are all good!
This is a flat in a perfect, central yet quiet location with a great balcony. If you come in winter, bring a warm pyjama and slippers as it is an old house. Rafael is a kind and thoughtful host who will give you great advice on how to navigate magic Seville. Very clean, well situated, it has everything we needed for cooking and relaxing! Good tips and advices from the host so we could enjoy the local places. Excellent location in the heart of the city. There was a dampness smell in the apartment, but the host assured me that is common throughout the city.
Overall, a very good stay and value. We stayed here for 9 days. This apartment is exactly as described -- a cozy studio in a characterful building in the centre of Seville. The location is fantastic: We particularly liked the Bolso ice cream shop and the Plaza de San Salvador. The studio has all the amenities that we needed and was very clean.
The bed was really comfortable and we slept very well. Despite the building being in the heart of the city, you cannot hear the outside traffic noise. David responded quickly to all communications and was very polite and helpful. We would definitely recommend this place. We loved staying at this spot! The location is perfect and that was so important to us. David was a very good host and had tons of info and recommendations. The apartment itself had everything and was the perfect size for the two of us.
I would highly recommend staying here and enjoying Sevilla! Beautiful apartment with extraordinary communication! Thanks for such a wonderful stay in Seville. We had a great time in this beautiful city. Juan's apartment is just perfect! The terasse is big and sunny, the location is perfect one minute walk to the cathedral , the flat has everything you may need and Juan and his family are all very helpfull. We would definitely stay there again, and I highly recommend this place.
We got picked up from the train station by Carmen and, even though she said her English was poor, was very good. She gave us loads of advice like the local supermarkets, restaurants and when to see the sites.. The location of the penthouse is fantastic and you have a nice view of the cathedral. The shades on the balcony was welcomed when it got hot. The air conditioning worked well. They also provided some basic provisions. Centrally located with easy access to place of attractions and foods, however to find the place isn't as easy as I initially thought.
Even the locals were struggling and couldn't quite make out where the penthouse is located. The highlight - It's all about location. The low - The bathroom smells, its due to poor ventilation. We had a wonderful time! The apartment is one minute walk from the cathedral, it is clean, the terrace is amazing, the bathroom was lovely and the kitchen facilities were all great too! Juan and Carmen gave us great advice as to which bars and tapas restaurants to visit and we took there advice and had a brilliant time! We are two 25 year old friends from university but I have recommended this apartment to my something year old parents, as they love good accommodation, in great locations ran by good people!
We are even thinking of bringing the rest of or uni friends to Seville for a weekend and were talking of trying to rent the whole building from Juan, so that we can all stay there! Clean towels, shower gel, shampoo and a hair dryer are all available too!!!! Gracias a Juan y Carmen, era increible! To those of you wise enough to book this apartment, enjoy!! This apartment is small but gorgeous, just like young Juan Juan F's friend who greeted my two girlfriends and me and carried our luggage up 4 flights of stairs for us.
Despite its small size, the apartment is perfectly laid out to maximize space. The neighborhood is lovely and perfect - we felt safer here than in any other city in Spain we visited. We did yoga on the terrace to the sound of cathedral bells and enjoyed the air conditioning when the weather was warm. I highly recommend this place to travelers! I chose to have Juan Jr pick me up at the airport and take me to the apartment. He was very helpful with checking in and provided restaurant and bar tips. The apartment also had maps and guides with highlights of Sevilla.
The Juans also happened to recognize me in town and I shared lunch with them. The penthouse itself was a perfect accommodation. Very comfortable and private with a lovely terrace and unbeatable view of the cathedral. If I ever return to Sevilla, this would be a perfect place to stay. Great apartment in a great location! The apartment is exactly as pictured in the ad, and Juan and Juan Jr were very accommodating!
From providing maps to recommendations to a personal pickup at the airport, our trip was lovely! Juan and his son Juan met us at the apartment and were very helpful. We had questions on booking a bus to Tarifa and they both left and came back later with all of the information we needed to book the last portion of our trip from Sevilla.
The location of the apartment was great and they were both very helpful in providing restaurant suggestions etc. Spacy and light apartment in the city centre. Everything within walking distance. Equipped kitchen, washing machine, shower, good bed. We were offered a pickup from the airport, a bit below the taxi rates, by the owner's son, which was nice.
We would stay here again. The apartment was perfectly located and had everything we required for our three might stay. We would highly recommend staying here. The flat is extremely well located and benefits from a great host! Juan welcomed us to the flat, assisted with the bags and helped find a parking place.
He then bought us a map and marked excellent bodegas and tapaserias. When the shower broke, he addressed the failure immediately and suggested several options for replacement. On and all we moved on but greatly appreciated the hospitality and treatment. The apartment was in a great location, but it was a little more rundown than the profile described. Hot water only lasted moments, and the power went out if too many lights were on or electronics were plugged in. Maria and Juan however were amazingly friendly, responsive, and accommodating.
Very nice and clean apartment. It is located in a beautiful area right next to Giralda. She was waiting on the street outside the home to greet us upon arrival! The home is wonderful and very clean. Absolutely would recommend it! Karina's place is very nice and has a great location - just check on the 60 euro cleaning and service fees.
Demons by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Fantastic place, very very quiet although in a super central location. The building itself is beautiful and historical. Karina has been very helpful, and waited for us for the checkin for a long time in the sun we were late , thank you!! Perfect spot to explore Seville from, right next to the Flamenco Museum, offering amazing shows! The apartment is very cute, we were greeted and checked in promptly as Karina had been in touch a day prior to our arrival making check-in a breeze.
Seville is a must see city, we walked pretty much everything but public transportation can also be reached within mins. Would definitely recommend Karina's place to family and friends. The location of this apartment is excellent. Being so central it is within easy walking distance to the sites and restaurants. There aren't any local restaurant recommendations in the apartment, which you'd often find in other Airbnb homes, so make sure you do your research before you arrive. Mamarracha is a 5 minute walk away and the food there is excellent.
The building is beautiful but can be noisy, so pack earplugs if you want a good sleep. The location is perfectly placed in the middle of the city within walking distance from everything. The area is very quiet at night. Karina handled our special requests perfectly and a delayed flight was no issue either. Nice but rather dark apartment, well located, quiet street, the parkibg was 'interesting'.
Fantastic place in central Seville. Communication with Jose Luis is very easy and he and his mother go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and easy. Jose' s mom is very friendly checking us in and made sure we had everything we need. The terrace is very handy if you need to dry clothes with a view of the cathedral.
Buy for others
Wonderful communication and experience! The apartment is really cozy and had everything I needed! Jose's mother gave us an introduction to the neighborhood. She was very lovely and did a fantastic job with the little English she knew. Quiet at night and quite close to many lively spots and tourist sights. We had a great stay. Jose Luis' place is centrally located to everything we wanted to see in Sevilla. The apartment was very clean and we appreciated all of the recommendations given by his lovely mother upon check-in. We didn't get to spend too much time in the apartment since we were out seeing the sights but the air conditioning was a definite highlight after the long, hot days spent in Sevilla.
Even though you're in the middle of everything it's perfectly quiet because all the windows face an inner court. Clean and comfortable, great place to discover Sevilla from! We wish we could have stayed longer. The location is amazing! I would definitely recommend this place. His house is in good position , and his mother was kind.
The house also has convenient elevator. I want to go back to the house. Recommended for those who want to travel to Seville. My family and stayed at Rocio's place for 5 days and we all agree that we couldn't have found a better place to stay in Sevilla. The house was very clean and cozy, and had the best location with a beautiful view of the La Giralda at night.
We also tried the restaurants and places of interest recommended by Rocio. Rocio was welcoming me and my mom with smile and helped a lot to enjoy Sevilla. He recommened touristic spots to visit and nice restaurants. The house was beautiful, clean and nice location to walk to everywhere. Roof top terrace was private and fancy! High recommend this house who visits Sevilla. We were very satisfied with this property. We were greeted by an very knowledgeable and efficient young woman who showed us around the apartment and gave tips on enjoying Seville.
Subsequently we were able to contact Rocio by text message whenever we had a question or request, and he got back to us very quickly and was able to resolve any issue such as providing an umbrella for the upstairs terrace. The apartment was very comfortable, well-designed and well appointed. You couldn't ask for a better location in town. My only real criticism is that in the evening you can hear music from the rooftop bar of the hotel next door.
This apartment has an excellent location, right opposite the Cathedral and within walking distance of all of the central tourist attractions and restaurants. It was clean with much needed air conditioning! However, it is located next door to a hotel which has a very noisy roof terrace cafe that plays loud music into the early hours of the morning so it was sometimes difficult to get off to sleep.
Also, in the past when we have stayed at Airbnb places around the world there were some provisions left for breakfast such as juice, pastries etc. I think there may have been some milk and tea bags but nothing else. But for a couple of nights stay, the location is great but take some earplugs if you want to get an early night!!!! We were welcomed at the apartment by Maria, Rocio's assistant. She was there to meet us despite us arriving 30 minutes earlier than we expected.
The apartment was everything we'd hoped for. Light, clean and airy with very high ceilings, and amazing views of the cathedral opposite from our three floor to ceiling windows. Such a great central location, and the private roof terrace was the icing on the cake. We were given a map and excellent recommendations by Maria about places to eat, which was a godsend and helped us avoid the tourist traps. We absolutely loved Seville and walked miles every day exploring the city. I can't recommend this apartment highly enough. We will be back! I'm not sure there is a better location to stay in Seville.
The apartment has an amazing private deck facing the Cathedral and is within short walking distance Santa Cruz, Triana or anywhere else in the old town. The hosts were perfect and very flexible with our check in. If this place is available book it! I would love to stay here again. Great location, fantastic view with awsome terrace and clean house. Very central location, within a minute walk of the Cathedral. Great tapas bar just outside the door.
Ingacio gave us a map with some great local advice on check-in. Great view of the cathedral by night. What a fantastic place to stay for a few days of culture and exploring Seville! We found the apartment building very easily with the details provided. The apartment itself was perfect, very clean, two comfortable beds available one is a sofa bed, very easy to make up though! Only a microwave and a small hob to cook on, but we didn't eat in, so many gorgeous restaurants to visit!
Macarena and Ignacio were amazing Hosts, Ignacio sat down and went through lots of things to do as it was our first time in Seville. We visited nearly every place he recommended and had the best time possible! Terrace views are stunning, location is perfect for getting around, all around amazing experience, we will definitely be back to continue to explore this beautiful city! Thank you both again! Macarena and her husband were very helpful and caring, the apartment was very clean and perfectly located, in a quiet street but at 2mn walking to the center of Sevilla. The apartment is perfect, the hosts are amazing, the view is stunning.
Great apartment in excellent location! Walking distance from bars, restaurants and amazing sevilla atractions. Macarena and his husband Ignacio were super nice with me and my girlfriend during my stay. Ignacio told us about many nice places to visit in Sevilla and both of them were super friendly and helpful since before our arrival in Sevilla until our departure. We had a wonderful stay in their apartment, which is new and perfect for a vacation. The view on the cathedral during the evening is spectacular, together with the terrace and with the location of the apartment itself.
In fact, you can simply walk to every point of interest of the city. So I would definitely recommend this apartment for a vacation to everyone is interested in visiting this super beautiful city. Macarena's place is on the the top floor with an elevator. It is a lovely apartment with great views of the Cathedral and surrounds. It is very quiet at night and close to all the major attractions. There is plenty of space and everything and the wifi works well.

But since the future social form is necessary precisely now, when we are finally going to act, so as to stop any further thinking about it, I am suggesting my own system of world organization. I wanted to explain my book to the gathering in the briefest possible way; but I see that I will have to add a great deal of verbal clarification, and therefore the whole explanation will take at least ten evenings, according to the number of chapters in my book. Besides that, I announce ahead of time that my system is not finished.
I got entangled in my own data, and my conclusion directly contradicts the original idea from which I start. Starting from unlimited freedom, I conclude with unlimited despotism. I will add, however, that apart from my solution of the social formula, there can be no other. View all 4 comments. They are fascinated, not by realism, but by the emotional ideal side of socialism, by the religious note in it, so to say, by the poetry of it… second-hand, of course. It all comes from flunkeyism of thought. There's hatred in it, too. They'd be the first to be terribly unhappy if Russia could be suddenly reformed, even to suit their own ideas, and became extraordinarily prosperous and happy.
They'd have no one to hate then, no one to curse, nothing to find fault with. The Demons is a thought-provoking book that captures the attention of the reader by the richness of detail, the engaging and differentiated narration. The narration is done through chronicles, where the chronicler narrates the facts that are happening, other times he reports what happened as he also acts as a character witnessing what happened. This process of narration makes reading dynamic and engaging. It is important to emphasize the philosophical and socio-political content of the dialogues The Demons is a thought-provoking book that captures the attention of the reader by the richness of detail, the engaging and differentiated narration.
It is important to emphasize the philosophical and socio-political content of the dialogues, which give the book a philosophical character. The novel portrays with fidelity typical of those who experienced the political, social and philosophical events of that time , the political movements constituted by young people in search of the organization of a revolutionary society in Russia of the XIX century.
As an excellent connoisseur of the human soul, the author exposes his protagonists with mastery, showing how moral miseries can lead to spurious actions, despite starting from altruistic philosophical concepts and well-intentioned ideologies. Thus Pyotr Stepanovich, an intelligent and ambitious young man, devoid of moral values but a skilled speaker, endowed with a great charisma and power of conviction, uses this capacity and creates a mythical and prophetic atmosphere around him to lead a constituted group of individuals, who act submissively to their excesses.
This subservience stems from the lack of ethical principles, moral inadequacy and, above all, greed for power, regardless of the means. Therefore, conspiracies, crimes and intrigues are committed in the name of the cause for which they fight, in order to destabilize order, instill panic and lead the people to rebellion. Reading makes it possible for us to conclude, that without moral and ethical principles and a true humanism, there is no ideology that can conquer a more just and egalitarian society.

I shall not review this book until I have thoroughly re-read it, but the pages I read attentively were truly inspiring and posed the moral dilemmas that Russian literature and especially Dostoyevsky himself is famous for.
As a I was savoring every single page , but the library deadline suddenly forced me to plough through the second half in a single day. I wish I was eloquent enough so I could talk about Demons. I severely lack the necessary intellect that would allow me to analyze it or even say a few things worth mentioning, the way they should be said. I will, however, state the obvious.
Demons has great, limitless philosophical value. It's not a novel meant to be read as a pastime activity. It's demanding of one's full attention and capacity and still, it might be necessary for one to go back several times in order to not lose grip I wish I was eloquent enough so I could talk about Demons. Several matters are touched, such as that of suicide which Camus, a century later, took even further. The main theme, though, is change. A change brought about by persons possesed by demons and this change is the projection of their own demonized selves.
Another thing worth mentioning is its darkness. What I found impressive, though, is that it doesn't need to label itself dark. It doesn't shout it nor does it let its darkness cover its aforementioned philosophical value. It simply is dark. Not the way a novel is, but rather the way life is. Last but not least, the chapter which was censored and thus left out is very important to the story and truely unique for its time. I'd say that it shines light on the story's point and that alone justifies the title. It beats me why it's included merely as an appendix nowadays and not where it should be.
It's one of the books that every reader should read eventually. One of those books that justify the statement that literature can help elevate the spirit and offer enlightenment. Dostoevsky, the author, is something that always seems to outstrip the pigeon-holer: So I will start with some general points and then discuss the book in terms of how it relates to Camus and his thinking. Dostoevsky, through the character of his narrator, Mr G—v, is exploring a world in change: This was a liminial phase in Europe and western Asia that both men were living in, the real and the fictional.
Politics was on the move, class structures were under assault, what to believe in was being problemised. Man, woman; master, serf; science, religion; and more so, on a larger scale, how we go about believing in things and what effects these changes or lack-of-changes would have on people and social life itself and on being moral. Many opinions get expressed in this novel, many of which could easily slip into contemporary discourse without much of a hitch just add some pop culture references… Particularly: A despot that has its own priests and slaves, a despot before whom everyone prostates himself with love and superstitious dread, such as has been quite inconceivable until now, before whom science itself trembles and surrenders in a shameful way.
As with any narrator, any time he or she is not directly present in events, even if they discuss which character informed them etc etc, there is room for playful doubt for the reader, and I would urge any reader to take this into account, as I'm sure would the author. That the villains of the piece get their come-uppance we are fore-told by the narrator early on, but not the depths and nature of the villainy: Dostoevsky makes use of prolepsis on numerous occasions to lead us along.
There is quite a body count: As for Camus and Absurdism: To be or not to be? Kirilov is planning to kill himself; why he is waiting, I shall not reveal for spoiler reasons, but he is fully and completely intending to do so. And he likens this to the nature of God, or, if your prefer to be more contemporary, Grand Narrative Meaning of your choice insert this wherever you see God too, if you like. Much later, when speaking to Peter Verkhovensky, there is a further exchange relating to this problem: Living with this Kirilovic tension is what his Absurd Hero does: I am very much looking forward to now reading how Camus uses his own ideas to play with these dramatic features in 'The Possessed'.
There are other echoes of this tension even in the relationship between the socialist plotters and the nature of the existence of the Central Committee. The 'group of five' often worry that it doesn't exist, that it's 'mythical'. It really fills out the character of Stavrogin psychologically. In it, I found such a beautiful line that could have been written just for me. You know those lovely moments Stavrogin asks the priest, Tikhon, if he has a problem with his atheism. My review of 'The Possessed': Camus' play based on 'The Devils' Wanna start with a like quote: Every member of the society spies on the others, and it's his duty to inform against them.
Every one belongs to all and all to every one. All are slaves and equal in their slavery.

In extreme cases he advocates slander and murder, but the great thing about it is equality. To begin with, the level of education, science, and talents is lowered. A high level of education and science is only possible for great intellects, and they Wanna start with a like quote: A high level of education and science is only possible for great intellects, and they are not wanted.
The great intellects have always seized the power and been despots.
