Highlander in Disguise
One woman knows where the missing object is and Grif is intent on finding her and the object in no time at all. But Grif did not plan on running into Anna Addison. Anna Addison does not mind being ignored in favor of her beautiful younger sister Lucy. The men of the ton can ply their attentions on Lucy all they want, as long as Anna keeps the interest of one particular man — Drake Lockhart.
Anna has been in love with Drake for as long as she can remember and she will do anything to get a proposal out of the man. The first is the sudden and mysterious appearance of Lord Ardencaple, a Scot who is as fascinating as he is handsome. The second problem is her sister Lucy, who suddenly seems interested in Drake — and vice versa. There is just something off about the Scot and something strangely familiar. It is not until Anna consults her books that she realizes that Lord Ardencaple is a complete fraud.

And one woman in particular catches his eye — Lucy Addison. The woman has an annoying habit of showing up unexpectedly and keeps hinting that she knows his secret. For the most part, Grif dismisses Anna and her hints…until she shows up claiming to have his beastie. With no other alternative, Grif agrees. Even though I thoroughly enjoyed Highlander in Disguise , there were a couple of notable problems. After her makeover by Grif, Anna becomes less likable since she loses the uniqueness that was so appealing in the beginning.
In fact, she becomes in many ways just like the other women of the ton from whom she is supposed to be so different. But it did get better eventually. I did like the chemistry between Grif and Anna.
But some of their relationship felt a little rushed-especially in the end. One issue was that they kept not talking to each other. There were also a few story points I felt were left unresolved. Feb 16, Andreajanel rated it liked it. I thought the character development could have been a little more thorough.
Grif's feelings for Anna evolved too rapidly and were tied too closely to their amorous encounters. I also thought that the disappearance of "the beastie" was a little too trite, although it set the stage quite nicely for the next installment in the trilogy. Tangled up in lies Grif tried so very hard to 'fit in' with London's elite.
However he had not figured on Anna. Due to the likeness to his brother Liam, Anna figured out most of his plot very quickly. But as luck would have it they are going to leave it to the Lady of the family to retrieve 'the beastie'. Nov 01, Annette Meier rated it really liked it. Funny, edgy part two if this trilogy. Mar 25, Darla Stokes rated it liked it. I'm a much bigger fan of Julia London's contemporary novels. This was the second in a series--I don't think I've read the first one, though I probably have it hiding in a box somewhere. It didn't feel like I'd missed anything, unless the first book made the mission of "finding the beastie a lion statuette?

HIGHLANDER IN DISGUISE
In retrospect, perhaps I should have waited to read this until I'd found the first book. Even so, the romance story was not one of my favorite types. The heroine convinces the hero to teach her to seduce another man. I've read this trope before, and there weren't any surprises here.

During her lessons with Grif, Anna's affections leave Drake and move to him, and Grif in turn falls in love with her. A sort of kidnapping, a race to Gretna Green, a theft from a family friend, and returning home empty handed but determined to persevere make this a great read!! Mar 13, Allison Fetch rated it liked it. This was a tad different than the usual romance novel They were both interesting and I found many of their interactions quite humorous, but I wasn't able to fully connect with the story.
Part of that might be because I didn't read the first book in the series, but I think it's more likely that there were gaps in the supporting cast, which made the book a little tedious because I had no interest in any of the characters This was a tad different than the usual romance novel Part of that might be because I didn't read the first book in the series, but I think it's more likely that there were gaps in the supporting cast, which made the book a little tedious because I had no interest in any of the characters other than the main two.
An odd critique, perhaps, but there you have it. The ending was predictable for me, as well, though the kidnapping was hilarious and a highlight of the book. A good read but I'm not sure that I feel compelled to read any more by this author. I like the through-running thread in this series, the chase after the golden beastie. But some of the elements of the stories are a little contrived. For example, I'm not sure why Grif feels he has to disguise himself, other than it helps the story. Yes, it's possible the English Lockharts will connect Liam with the missing beastie.
But he's not Liam, and Liam didn't steal the beastie. If the sassenach Lockharts do sort things out, they will discover that a woman sold the beastie in Cambridge, a I like the through-running thread in this series, the chase after the golden beastie.
Highlander in Disguise — All About Romance
If the sassenach Lockharts do sort things out, they will discover that a woman sold the beastie in Cambridge, and at most they will realize Grif is after it. That doesn't make him a thief or any kind of criminal. Also the switch from strong annoyance and dislike to madly in love was a bit abrupt for me in this one.
But this is still pretty good for an early work. Jul 31, Missy Jane rated it really liked it. I was about to rate this book lower when I realized the only thing I didn't like about it was the heroine. The writing is wonderful, the plot interesting, the hero sexy as hell, and the romance very hot.

So, my only complaint is the heroine. However, given the time setting, I can admit she was probably acting very in character when she ignored the dishonesty of the idiot male she hoped to earn a proposal from. There were a few of her actions that had me gritting my teeth and wanting to reach into the book to slap some sense into her. Luckily all the other things I mentioned above redeemed the book and I'm eager to read the rest of the series.
Jul 15, Jennifer Brown rated it liked it Shelves: Another story that had a fantastic story idea but was filled with way too many words. I honestly stopped half way through this book for several weeks. Finally picked it back up yesterday and read the rest in a day. The characters are likable, for the most part, and the premise is enjoyable but like the first in this series it seemed to take forever to get to the end. There were some moments that were a bit unbelievable. And I absolutely love my husband but if he shoved me in a Finally finished! And I absolutely love my husband but if he shoved me in a carpet, bound and gagged, it would take a bit longer for me to forgive.
I look forward to the next in this series as I have always like Mared and Payton. Feb 24, Oleta Blaylock rated it liked it. I can't read all of this book and the sad part is I don't know why. I guess the biggest problem is that the confusion of the main characters just leaves me sad. Grif doesn't and cant take a wife because of his family financial problems and Anna thinks she is in love with Grif's cousin. Grif's cousin Drake is an idiot that can't tolerate any competition for any woman. Lucy is just a spoiled brat that needs a good bit of discipline.

While there he falls in love with Anna Addison. Ok, but not that compelling. I will finish the series, though, but not too enthused about the book. Jul 09, Lorka rated it liked it. This book would have been perfect if not for one thing: And she knew about it, but chose to keep pushing to win his favor. It was so so so frustrating to read thru that part of the book. On the good side, the interaction btwn the heroine and the hero was fun and well-written. Picked this up at the Dollar Store, of course it didn't say anywhere on it that it was part of a series Never read this author before though, so I'm kinda looking forward to finding 'em and giving her a try.
Jun 18, Dawn Kunda rated it really liked it. A little different twist as a Highlander hiding amongst the London parties. Not as much warrior on the outside, but definitely the rogue inside.
