It is a smaller board book with only twenty pages which would be ideal for small children. The illustrations are similar in this one to Barnyard Dance and her other books. Boynton definitely has a illustration style with her books. I love the fun illustrations of the animals it keeps the story lively.
All of her books have fun and sill words and this one does no disappoint. On one page in particular, it has nine pigs dressed in jerseys and with nets and it says, "You need NINE players-strong and quick- to field a team for Pigglystick. The targeted age group for this book would be Kindergarten to first grade. The number concepts are easy and don't excede 10 on the number scale. This would be a great book to teach a begining counting lesson. I liked the clever format, vibrant and colorful illustrations, and intriguing rhyming patter.

By Sandra Boynton was a fun read for anyone in first grade or kindergarden that used the numbers one through ten to illustrate what pigs would do with each number. For example, five bigs are perfect for car rides and eight are great for a hockey team.
Although the pictures were simple and dull in color, the text was exciting and made you wonder what was next. The text rhymed with each number all the way to ten. Aug 16, Bree rated it really liked it.
