The Emerald Ring (Cleopatras Legacy Book 1)

This is a book I would love to read to my school kids and my kids at home. My daughter almost stole it from me when she read the title and saw it was about Cleopatra.

She loves Egypt and anything having to do with Egypt. Even though she is a mid-teen, I know that she will love this story. It has mystery, adventure, intrigue and everything you love in a fantasy book. This book is a winner on so many levels. As a teacher I love how it explores aspects of history.

I know kids between the ages of will really love this book. Forced to choose between keeping the ring and saving her friends, Sara learns the price of bravery in this electrifying read! The Emerald Ring is such a great Middle Grade book. It has mystery, adventure,intrigue and everything you love in a fantasy book. Main character Sara is a typical 12 year old girl, though she does happen to find an emerald ring of her Grandmothers that… just happened to belong to Cleopatra.

To protect the mirror, she travels into the Louvre museum in the dark of night, searches abandoned subway tunnels, and walks the catacombs of the dead.

These are some of my favorites things to read about so I knew I would like this story. This book can be read as a stand alone, but to get the true flavor of this series, reading the first two books will make it a more enjoyable experience. Main character Claire is feisty and adventurous and I loved as she set out to find out about the mysteries behind the old family mirror and Cleopatra's gems. The setting is wonderful as it takes place in Paris, France, and the author supplies so many details you feel like you're really there.

Claire learns a lot about herself as she is tested, but remains true to herself and the family she loves, her older brother and parents. This story moves quickly and keeps the excitement levels ramped up.

Cleopatra's Legacy Series

It was fun trying to guess what would happen as the story played out. There will be other books in the series, as the ending leaves you waiting and wanting more. There are so many intriguing things about this book and this series. It is written for the middle grade crowd, but I know older teens and adults who like fantasy will also really enjoy The Diamond Looking Glass.

This was a delightful continuance of the Cleopatra's Legacy series. Dorine White has done it again with a thrilling adventure. I love the fact that her stories happen in different places and we get a hint of different cultures and traditions. The illusion to the fairy tale of Beauty and the Beast is also a fun twist. The Diamond Looking Glass will be a great read for younger readers that will take them on a ride through imagination, and for older readers an adventure that is full of mystery, twists, and intrigue.
