From that moment, his questions become more intense. He wants and needs answers. It's not his immortality he's concerned about, it's her mortality. This book was interesting. I enjoyed the different form of paranormal. Jack is a great character, but I didn't grow attached to the story or the characters.

It is a good book. I enjoyed the writing and the plot. This book has swearing and innuendo. Jun 29, Angela rated it it was amazing. Beautiful love story, with beautiful writing to match! The Jack (The Immortal Series Book Two)

This was an amazing book to read and had me with a typical readers dilemma, I wanted to read faster to find out what was going to happen but I also didn't want the book to end. I loved the characters in the book as well as Jen's writing style, she has the ability to suck you into the book and the lives of the characters. Fantasy is my all I am sorry to say but I have never heard about Jen Printy but this book has rectified that oversight very quickly.

Fantasy is my all time favourite genre and this book did not disappoint. Thank you to Red Adept Publishing for the copy. Tomorrow or one hundred years from tomorrow? What's soon to an immortal? He has terrible flash-backs that force him to re-live the life and love he once shared with Lydia that has haunted him for over one hundred years. He doesn't believe he will ever know happiness as long as he remains on earth. After moving to a new city, Jack runs into a girl on the street who bears a striking resemblance to Lydia.

He cannot stop thinking about her and the idea that she could somehow be connected to his long lost love. When he finally sees the girl, Leah, again, he ends up spending time with her and her brother and learning that she is a descendant of Lydia's. Jack thinks this explains their resemblance until he goes to Leah's art show and discovers that she has been painting pictures of him and his life with Lydia well before they ever met.

Jack turns to another immortal, Artagan, to seek answers about him and Leah.

What he finds out is incredible. I was very pleased with the twist in this book! I was already enjoying this novel and then, BAM! I get pulled deeper and deeper. After the twist, Jack and Leah work through it and become closer as the story goes on. I'm a far different man than I was then. The man sitting before you is in love with someone else.

Overall, this novel was a captivating page turner with likable characters and a swoon-worthy romance. I wipe away the tears with my fingertips. Everything's going to be alright," I whisper. Believing himself to be damned, he tries to stay away from Leah, but their attraction can't be denied. As more mysteries are revealed, the more danger dangerous it becomes for Jack and Leah. Will they finally find eternal love or will Jack face his fate that's worse than death?

It was a refreshing change from the usual heroine's POV. But sadly, it still felt like it was on a girl's POV. I had a hard time liking Jack's character at first. He was depressing, whiny, and weak. Leah's character was even stronger than his. It was a good thing he redeemed himself towards the end. The first few chapters of the book were good.

It was interesting and I wanted to read more to find out the secrets of Jack's immortality. Unfortunately I got bored in the middle chapters. It felt like a lot of fillers were added just to make the book longer. The romance was bland and I didn't feel the spark or chemistry between Jack and Leah.

I figured this isn't just about romance but still, I wanted more. There was one time that I thought about not finishing this book but I decided to continue anyway. I'm glad I did because the last chapters were great. It was exciting and I'm just so happy that Jack finally decided to be man enough. I loved the ending and the author has given enough teaser for me to look forward to the next book. Yup, I would definitely read the next book.

I give My Soul Immortal 3. It was a good book, I was entertained in some parts but I got bored in some. The book holds a lot of promise and I can feel that the series will just get better with the next book. I want to recommend this to readers who want a paranormal story that isn't heavy on romance. I also want to recommend this to male readers who reads YA paranormal. I really enjoyed this story and the entire aspect of the immortality that is discussed and how closely connected Jack and Leah really are.

The entire story was full of mystery and intrigue until the very last page that left off on a cliff hanger, leaving me wondering what was going to happen next. I have hardly read any stories dealing with immortality, so reading this one really did entertain me from the fantastical plot line to the characters that really brought the story to life. The only thing that brushed me the wrong way was the fact that Jack and Leah fell in love with each other quicker than I could react, but, then again, they were interconnected by their pasts which made their romance blossom and grow faster than normal.

Another aspect of the story that hit me in the face, was the action filled ending. The story climaxed without enough build up, in my opinion, and I had wished that the tension building was fleshed out more to really hook the reader and make them sit on the edge of their seat, waiting for the trouble to brew until it finally burst.

It was a story that was easy to dive into and, I really did enjoy the journey it put me on along with Jack and Leah fighting their hardest to be together against all odds set in their way. Mar 02, A Voracious Reader a. Jack Hammond has been around for years. After his true love succumbed to an illness he tried many ways to end his existence and none of them worked.

So, every few years he moves around to keep people from being suspicious of his yr-old looking face. However, when a liquor store robbery in LA goes wrong, Jack is shot twice with fatal wounds. Who the hell is the mysterious stranger who calls himself Artagan and seems to know all about Jack?

Jack has gone from a fairly monotonous life to one that is almost too exciting. This is quite an interesting take on immortality. I was expecting a new trend on vampires or some kind of new fangled twist on Highlander, but this story goes in a much different direction than I was expecting and it revolves around Artagan. I have to admit that in the beginning I thought Jack was a bit of a whiner baby. Not everyone wants to live forever. But years of that crap? Pull up your big boy jockeys and do some interesting shit. He does after he meets the mysterious Artagan and Leah, the spitting image of his love Lydia.

There is resolution to this story, but the gauntlet for the next book is definitely thrown down. Jul 01, Rebecca Lane rated it it was amazing. It was refreshing to have the story told from a male perspective, the Paranormal Romance genre is very female protagonist heavy.

He is simply the perfect gentleman. Jack will willingly make the ultimate sacrifice for the one he loves, what could possibly be more romantic? Also, as his character is rooted in Victorian England this novel has a sense of the Victorian novels as well as a modern day, paranormal side. Printy leads the reader straight into the action from the very first chapter. Printy teases the reader with snippets of information, enough to get you interested and wanting to find out more.

We know Jack is immortal but how is a mystery. I very much like the distinction Printy uses between soul immortals and immortals. Combine this with the sublime descriptions and well developed characters; Printy is on to a believable and beautifully written story.

My favourite aspect by far was the love between Leah and Jack. I received a copy of this book via the author in return for an honest review. This book was really cool. In the world of literary works, we have often seen many, and i stress the many remakes of the same 'soul-mates' story line. Honestly, at times i feel like running away when i see the word 'soul mate' in a blurb. However, when the author approached me to review this one, i was intrigued and when i began reading, i knew i made the right decision. I really liked this book. We delve into the realm I received a copy of this book via the author in return for an honest review.

We delve into the realm of 'soul immortals', which is reminiscent of soul mates but with a few more twists and turns that made it a thoroughly enjoyable read. There was also some really awesome 'lore' attached to it! Let's have a brief chat about the plot, this will be super short because i don't want to ruin it by giving you guys too much info. Okay, here it goes: What would you do if everyday you walked the earth, knowing that you cannot die? What would you do if the person you've loved with all your being did die and keeps dying no matter how much you try to change the outcome?

What would you do if the torture repeats over and over again? Thus, we delve into the realm of the sons of death. In all honesty this book grabbed my attention from the beginning, the plot thickened with every chapter too. Okay, i will admit that there were some scenes i grumbled to, and yes, there were facepalm moments Printy writes really well, she draws you into her world and doesn't let go for a long time.

In essence, my point is, try it, you'll not regret it. There aren't insipid characters who will give you headaches, you'll actually find yourself cheering them on and hoping for positive outcomes to their plight. Aug 06, Sarah rated it it was amazing. Jack couldn't Die and he was over years old. I loved this story and the fact that it kept me on my toes. Sep 03, Romance Schmomance Malia rated it liked it Shelves: It was my first time reading from this author and I'm looking forward to reading the rest in this series. I loved the premise of the Readers, Jacks, and Seers and found all of it rather intriguing.

Sadie was definitely an amusing character, she was definitely pure, and good just emanated from her constantly. But I felt bad for her solitary life, so it was great when she finally made friends with some Readers and of course, Archer. I was a bit surprised on how quick her judgment was towards Archer and how constant it was too. It almost seemed out of nature for her. I thought it was a bit unfair, but then again I was very much Team Archer! I loved Archer and I definitely felt for him and everything he has been through. And he was quick to make a final decision to end his life if it came to it , if he wasn't able to prove that his innocence.

It was rather heartbreaking, but I loved that the people that he used to be close to that knew better and were persistent in finding out the truth. I definitely enjoyed the story, it was a bit predictable and felt like events skipped around a bit too easily. I wish there was a bit more world building because it would definitely enhance this series. A little bit of the history is mentioned, but I'd totally be up for reading an even deeper history of this world. The one thing that bugged me a little bit was the ending, it felt way too quick to me.

I was hoping for a bit more romance, but I've been seeing it categorized as a YA. Oct 20, Angela rated it really liked it. This is an extremely good New Adult fantasy- full of action mystery, suspense, danger, secrets, emotion, intrigue, and romance. Although you could read this book as a standalone, I really recommend reading The Reader before setting off on this adventure.

I must admit that I was quite interested to see how this story would unfold, especially considering the events in the previous book. I had several scenarios and directions that I thought the story might take. My mind is still reeling with it all. A sure sign of a really great story! There is quite a lot going on between the covers of this book, and I enjoyed following along as everything played out.

I can always rely on Ms. Harkins uses her wonderful word-smithing capabilities to craft interesting and unforgettable characters, as well as an extraordinary world in which her characters, and story, come to life. Her attention to detail, intricately woven plot, descriptive language and phrases, are fantastic- painting my mind with vivid images. These incredibly surprising developments really had me in a flipping frenzy, devouring the pages to find out what happens and how it all works out.

I need to know more! Please let there be another instalment in the works!!! As always, I am looking forward to Ms. I have dishes stacked in the sink, a load of laundry sitting in the washer, beds not made, floors not washed and a pot of coffee that has mysteriously disappeared. Why am I telling this to you, you ask? The introduction was a great add, as I had read the Readers, awhile back, it was great to read as a reminder of the Readers or as a first-time reader of the story.

I usually see the "who did it" in books and movies, before they are revealed. And you blew my mind with the reveals I almost cried during a chapter, I hated it because it ended! I sat down and read the entire thing. I had a "movie" of it in my head.

Thank you so much, MK Harkins, I have really enjoyed my Saturday morning and afternoon with The Jack and all the characters you've brought to life with your phenomenal story telling abilities!!! Oct 13, E. Harkins was a entertaining engaging read that had my hooked. Not my first read by this author or in this series, and though this book takes place two years after The Reader ends, this is still a continuation series so I suggest reading the first book before this one, as it will give you much needed info on the character's backstory and, the even that takes place before The Jack.

I have to say, that this book was a tad bit better than the first, there were still some scenes that felt rushed, like the first book, but the overall plot was a bit more polished and being told in duel POV really added something special to this read. Again this book has the same picturesque writing as the first and expands on that original story and tale that M.

I like Archer in the first book, he really got the short end of the stick. But I'm glad this story follows him and his journey to redemption and finally getting those shadows lifted. Sadie was a okay character, for someone that's live for two millina, she sure was nice. I don't know, if that was me, I don't think I would be that kind, or sane.

Overall this book was the perfect addition to this unique tale. I was drawn in from the start, and though there some pacing issues, the plot was gitty, the characters well-rounded and connecting. I give this book my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Oct 10, Maura rated it it was amazing. THE JACK Book 2 of the series is an amazingly fantastically layered story and it is my opinion that it will be a much more satisfying read if read in order. There are a lot of nuances and characters for which the groundwork is layed in the first book. Ok, now my review Today was an incredibly busy day being an adult. As quickly as I devoured a pint of ice cream, I turned the pages of this book.

It has complex plots and twists and all the goodness that comes from the author's brain. It is a visually appealing book and I was able to "watch it unfold" as I read along. I do not write spoilers in my reviews so I am choosing to say nothing about the storyline. Just know that this series is in my top five reads of I would recommend this to anyone who likes to read.

Aug 30, Malissa rated it really liked it Shelves: As soon as this book came on my radar I knew that I had to read it.

Having not read the first book, The Reader, I immediately went and one-clicked it, tore through it, and then sat in anxious anticipation for The Jack to release! I knew this one was going to have me gripping the pages because I fell hard and fast for Archer in the first book and wow the way things went out in The Reader I wasn't quite sure where his story was going to go, although I knew he would be redeemed I was totally unsure As soon as this book came on my radar I knew that I had to read it.

I knew this one was going to have me gripping the pages because I fell hard and fast for Archer in the first book and wow the way things went out in The Reader I wasn't quite sure where his story was going to go, although I knew he would be redeemed I was totally unsure of how M. Harkins would do it. Archer is really a great character, he's been a bit maligned all his life.

Always a little on the outskirts, never sure of his place even though most of the people around him had no idea that he didn't truly fit in until it was 'too late'. A father who felt ashamed of his son's linage and often times took that shame out on Archer in their interactions. He's the 'boy' who looses it all, the one who's been living a lie and now has to prove he is more than just what people think he is because of his heritage and past. Sadie is another great character, the only thing more I could have wanted from her was more back story.

These characters have been around for thousands of years, there is a world of history in each of them and more particularly with Sadie because she has lived in the world wide 'community' and she's done it all on her own. She hasn't had a group of like-minded people or a place that is protected from the outside like the Readers and even the Jack's have had.

I want to read one of her history books and just really get to know her on a deeper level. It's hard at times because these characters have been around for so long yet they are still seemingly at least in looks kids so when they get in their groups, especially with the Readers, I have difficulties seeing them in positions of power, I can never quite place what their actual role in the community is, but with Sadie she was a free agent so to speak so she comes across as older and more mature even though they are all around the same age.

I loved her giving heart and her desire to see the good in every one, though it does get her in trouble a time or two. I loved her connection with Archer and that while they fight it a little they always know deep down who they are to one another and when they finally accept it, well that's it.

I am a huge fan of non-angsty romance so this was a great read for me. Yes there is a bit of a love triangle but you realize early on that it won't play a major role in the overall storyline. One of the things I really loved about this story was the suspense, the who-dun-it feel. I had so many theories running wild and every time I was sure it was one person I changed to another. So that means I wasn't totally surprised by the outcome in the end but boy did I enjoy the trail to getting there. I loved that friendships were rebuilt and that faith wasn't totally lost.

This is really a book about Archer's redemption and finding friendship and love when you are willing to truly open yourself up to it regardless of your fears. I am incredibly anxious to get ahold of the next book, there has to be one right?

My Soul Immortal (Fated Eternals, #1) by Jen Printy

Because I want to know what happens with our dear sweet fiery-tempred redheaded Lucy and a new character we meet in The Jacks. We know it's not over by the way things ended, or at least I hope that it isn't, also I am gonna be needing some little baby Archers, haha. So great this one up, it can be read as a Standalone but I think you will be in a better position if you know the full back story of Archer and have met a few of the characters before.

This is a great read for the mid ya aged teens, 13 to 14 year olds as the romance isn't the main focus nor does it get too intense. I was apprehensive about reading a second series book without reading the first, but after a few chapters, I picked up that Archer, the lead character, had done many unspeakable things in the prior book, and he betrayed his race of Readers and tried to force Ann, who was destined to be with his best friend Devon, to marry him, killing the race of Seers in the process. Book one sounds like a good story. The premise of the series, that three major races of immortals coexist with humans, is interesting. The world-build is easy, because it is earth with this addition. The story line is good versus evil, with the third race, the Jacks, providing the evil.

While "all" of the Jacks save Archer were apparently killed in the first book, clearly there must be some left behind, or the story would be over. After the initial re-hash of the prior volume, I found the story excellent. I loved the characters of Archer and Sadie, and the interplay as they fell in love. The addition of Ian, a love interest for Sadie, played well into the story-line.

The drama of an attempt to murder the entire Reader group, presumably by the new or leftover Jacks, was well written. While reading, I was generally enjoying the strong writing and well-developed characters, although one could argue that there were too many lead characters to follow, and the constant switching of perspective from Archer to Sadie could be slightly negative at times. However, at the climax, the story falls apart. The Jacks have already tried to kill the entire "good guy" group, and when the clever plan to split away the strongest from the others works perfectly, instead of simply killing their adversaries, they pull the Saturday morning cartoon move of tying them up.

This action is entirely uncharacteristic, and it effectively ruins the book. At that point, you start thinking, why didn't the Seers see that the guy who went out for sandwiches during the bombing was clearly the spy? How did the Readers not read the minds of the bad guys who were living right with them?

And the killer--Was Sadie really given 10 minutes to use a necklace to unbind her hands, and then find a gun that she had taped under the chair to allow her to shoot all of the bad guys before they even noticed? Sorry, but that just isn't plausible. The penultimate twist of giving Sadie anterograde amnesia from PTSD of having to shoot all of the bad guys isn't necessary, and also strains credulity.

However, the final Jack clone hiding in the bushes out front IS a good bit, so at least it ended with something plot-related that works. I read the e-book, and I assume they will be fixing the doubled period, the "e" standing alone, and the misspelled "Sade" near the end, and I forgive those errors and only mention them for the author in case nobody else has pointed them out.

Do a document search for these and fix them for the next rewrite.

Eternal Love: The Immortal Witch Series

However, the big problem here is that the plot relies on an uncharacteristic move by the antagonists. It's simply not believable and it destroys what is otherwise a very well written book. I strongly suggest rewriting the climax to remain true to the bad guys. This has the makings of a very good book once the giant plot hole is repaired.

Picking up where the last book left off The Jack follows Archer on his road to redemption. Archer was a minor character in the previous novel, and now he finally gets to shine. He seems so different than he was in the previous novel because two years have passed, allowing him to think on all the lies that led to his betrayal, lies he thought of as truth, forcing him now to come to terms with his actions and the consequences. It is very nice to see his character grow. In the previous novel, again, he was a minor character and very flat, static. That was okay because the story was not about him and he was, very much, a plot device.

Everything is different now. Now he has a chance to shine, and he has that chance to shine. Archer is far more enigmatic in this novel than he was not a previous novel his narrative the description of his little twitches, quirks, and personality make him jump off the pages. He is not the only character that gets to shine. Sadie has lived her life and isolation because the Jacks killed all the other Seers. So naturally, she harbors this resentment and hatred toward all things Jack including Archer understandably even though he is only half, Jack. Ultimately the fact that the story goes between Archer and Sadie makes the story thrive.

The Eternal Love trilogy spans the world and back again covering years of life, love, war, and every emotion known.
