My Kilted Hero
He said the kilt was so comfortable and he felt good wearing it. I loved writing this story set in Scotland, and do I have an awesome hero for readers in Callum McGuire? I will, however, give you a snippet from the story that involves a kilt. Skye nudged him in the side with her elbow. Popular in your school. Until now his had remained only close enough to let her know it was there. Was he waiting for her permission to explore what had been so natural to them as teens? She took the lead and entwined her fingers with his and squeezed. I felt too foolish the next day.
So, I kept quiet about my lapse into jealousy. I—it was the first time you had been out with anyone but me. Thought of you all night long. Imagined it was your arms holding me as we danced. Opera star, Skye Hunter, returns to the land of her birth as leading lady in Phantom of the Opera. Her first and only love, Callum McGuire, still plays his guitar and sings at the family-owned tavern. Callum has never stopped loving Skye. Her love of travel has influenced her contemporary inspirational romances set in novel places.
Welcome to the community at Inspy Romance! The authors are so happy to see you. Thanks for sharing the snippet…I enjoyed it! Ooh, Australia, Scotland, kilts- sounds like a fun story: He also wore a kilt to the Edinbugh Military Tatoo earlier this year- photos were definitely displayed in the staff room!! Rekindled love in a kilt seems like a great combination. Plus I like the idea of him singing. Marion, This sounds like a really fun book to read! We met 15 years ago at the Texas Renaissance Festival.
Something amazing happens when musicians click together. You can see it on the smiles of people in the audience. You can hear it in their voices. You can feel it your own feet. That's what happened with us. The first time we finished playing "Name On My Soul" at the end of our show, a fair maiden came up to the stage, with cash in hand, asking if the song was on a CD.
Yet through the rest of the faire, pirates and fairies, lords and ladies, and even those in mundane clothing asked if we had a CD. She is loving the time spent with Angus at his home and Angus is just as happy. There are plenty of sparks flying between them but they don't feel comfortable with the other ladies there to give in. The rains have stopped and they all joined in helping others clean up and get back into their homes.
Hayley feels like more than a tourist now, she feels like a part of the community. With Hayley's trip drawing close to ending, what will she and Angus do? Will they have a real relationship? As I said, I loved this story. Hayley is a fan of the show "Outlander" and I liked the references and the discussions about the show, since it is a favorite of mine. This was also a wake up call for both Hayley and Angus and what they wanted from their lives. This is definitely a must read!
See a Problem?
Then after enjoying the story so much, I discover that this is a series and the next book is about one of Hayley's friends that went to Scotland with her. Can't wait for the next one! Feb 28, Paula rated it it was amazing. I loved the beginning where the three female friends are together pretty much getting on each other nerves. I remember thinking Ms. Maynard has done some traveling herself to peg how time changes and traveling fatigue magnifies every quirk that normally does bother a person.
I knew right then that I was in for a fun read. Hayley and Agnus meet in an unusual situation from there the attraction between them grows. There is a bit of drama, a minor villain family member, lots of gorgeous scenery and a love to last a lifetime.
Album Recorded, Now What
It may not be the deepest book but it is a thoroughly delightful read. The fanciful plot gives an uplifting anything-is-possible kind of feeling. Feb 04, Marty Mayberry rated it it was amazing. I loved this book. A sympathetic main character with a great sense of humor. A hunky Scotsman with a to-die-for accent and a gruff, teasing manner. In the story, schoolteacher Hayley and her two friends vacation in Scotland. After she falls in the Loch, Haley is rescued by Angus, a sweet and sexy highlander and former pro soccer player. Feb 11, Synergy Quest rated it really liked it. Cute romance with a bit of heat.
I love the idea of a group of girlfriends traveling to Scotland for adventure and maybe a happily ever after. The story was very well written and it's entertaining. It would make a nice beach read or airplane companion as you head out on your own adventure or to a conference you don't want to attend.
I was a bit surprised at how rigidly Hayley stuck to the no-technology rule, but that's just me. It did say a lot about the conviction of our heroine. I look forwar Cute romance with a bit of heat. I look forward to reading Willow's the doubter story. Feb 25, Heather andrews rated it it was amazing. I was sweaty, and my clothes were covered in muck. But Angus apparently took my statement as an invitation. Mar 15, Katherina rated it it was ok. I'm sorry, but I couldn't connect to the heroine and if a book is written in first person, I absolutely have to comprehend the main character in order to enjoy the book.
I might have liked it more written in third person, it's not bad For more romance reviews, check out my website: Mar 10, Wendy Gibson rated it really liked it Shelves: I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Hot For The Scot is a cute and romantic book that emphasizes the importance of friendship, while also encouraging an adventurous spirit and an open heart. It has two of my favourite things in it, Scotland and Outlander, I loved how Janice weaved the story of Angus and Hayley together, the ups and downs of the events that happen to both of them. Three friends decide to live an adventure after watching and reading about romance in Scotland. The first book puts us in Scotland and the three have arrived and are going their separate ways.
Hayley is a schoolteacher and she meets Angus Munroe a retired footballer and we watch a relationship develop between them. Let the adventure begin This book was a great start to the adventure that three girlfriends began trying to find there Outlander obsessions somewhere in Scotland. A modern day twist with wonderful characters make this a pleasure to read.
Aug 01, MC rated it liked it. The story was sweet, but I got very tired of the main character's self doubt, particularly since it was a first person perspective.

It was unfortunately to the point of whining. Loved the idea of the plot, the setting and the love interest Angus, but found Hayley exhausting. Hayley and her two friends are Americans who decide to travel to Scotland for a month long vacation. They all want to push their boundaries and learn to live without their electronics for a while.
Who Are Kilted Kings?
Hayley is a HUGE fan of the Outlanders series so that was one of her big reasons for choosing Scotland as her vacation destination. I really REALLY wanted to love this one, because who doesn't love a guy with a Scottish accent, but I just felt like there was something missing for me. Hayley repeatedly mentions the Outlander series throughout the book, and since I haven't read the series I felt like I was missing something. She is seriously obsessed with it.
I think she mentions it at least once a chapter. I didn't feel the spark between the characters that I was hoping for. I felt the attraction on Angus' end but I didn't feel it with Hayley. I felt the ending was a little rushed as well. All opinions are my own. I'm not usually into stories told in the first person narrative. I'm more into the third person narrative because I like to see into the minds of both the hero and the heroine but this story got me hooked and I couldn't put it down until the very end. This story is told from our heroine's pov, Hayley, who is embarking on a solo journey to Scotland to kind of find herself and maybe some romance as well.
It was a very cute story and the reason why I didn't mind so much the first person narrative i I'm not usually into stories told in the first person narrative. It was a very cute story and the reason why I didn't mind so much the first person narrative is because Angus, our hero, speaks his mind and let's Hayley knows exactly what he's thinking and what he feels so it was all good.
Now let me rewind a bit and say that Hayley and her 2 best friends traveled to Scotland together but decided to each have their own independent trip in different cities in Scotland so they each have a chance to immerse themselves in their own adventure without using one another as a crutch that would keep them from experiencing everything to the fullest. At first I thought the idea was odd but it all worked out because Hayley had a chance to find herself and thus love as well. So now I am looking forward to the second installment to this series.
Jul 01, Krista Slaney rated it liked it. I was drawn to this book because of my love of " Outlander " by Diana Gabaldon , and my love of anything set in Scotland. In the beginning I liked the idea of these three childhood friends venturing to Scotland to find their own " personal Jamie Fraser" but this Hailey seemed a tad desperate and then it all started to get very cheesy. I didn't particularly enjoy her dialogue although I did enjoy Angus's but a few little parts of his native dialect weren't quite right.
Although the plot was enj I was drawn to this book because of my love of " Outlander " by Diana Gabaldon , and my love of anything set in Scotland. Although the plot was enjoyable and the setting was written beautifully ; as I read the story I could imagine myself there in the highlands as well as the main character , but it did seem to drag on and on until it ended even more cheesy then I had initially expected.
I mean , the girl only knew this guy for a month and now they were getting married?!
Kilted Heroes Series in Order - Janice Maynard - FictionDB
It was a good story and entertaining but it fell flat for me especially at the end. Excellent This is a new author for me and I'm so glad I found her. I love this book. She expressed exactly how I felt when I visited Scotland a couple of years ago and felt such a strong connection there and wondered if the fantasies and time travel I've read so much about really existed and would love to experience the magical feeling and find your true love.
But reality doesn't work out that way for us regular people, or does it? This was a wonderful story of these three childhood friends that Excellent This is a new author for me and I'm so glad I found her. This was a wonderful story of these three childhood friends that drifted apart and found each other again in adulthood and took a trip to Scotland, then went different paths after arriving there to see if they could experience what the couple in Outlander did.
I loved theses girls with their very different personalities, this book is about Haley and Angus and I can't wait for Willow and Mackenzie's story and see how their adventure turns out. Jul 14, Bernadette Long rated it really liked it Shelves: This story introduces the three childhood friends from Atlanta - Hayley, Willow, and Mackenzie - who share a love of the Outlander novels and TV show and have decided to travel to Scotland.
