Universal FLAMENCO

The performance was arranged by the Spanish embassy and the Instituto de Cervantes cultural center. While the singers delivered narration for each sequence of the dance, it was the dynamics of rhythm and the steps that gave meaning to the performance. The musicians watched his steps closely and adjusted the music to the dance. For the past 20 years he has toured the world to dance and worked with renowned directors and choreographers, including Mario Maya, Jose Granero, Maria Pages, Manolo Marin and Javier Latorre.

Now I can watch a Spanish YouTube of a Flamenco dance and understand much, much better all the subtle details and nuances. I thought I would read a chapter a day, learning steadily as I went along. Instead, I read the entire book in one sitting, neglecting to do chores and errands that needed to be done. If you are into Spain, if you are into Flamenco, I very strongly recommend reading this book. You will be able to impress your friends with your knowledge about Flamenco and probably get them hooked on it as well through your expertise acquired from this book.

This is an odd self-published book which is double-spaced except for the glossary by guitarist Tony Arnold in order to tease its pamphlet-length text into a still-slim pages despite the author's lapses into New Age spiritualistic musings. The photographs are of poor quality with some like the cover photo so pixillated that it appears that the author was scrounging to find snapshots of herself with persons whose relevance to the subject of flamenco is unexplained. Although Rimer's booklet is not without value, one would do well to compare the Youtube videos of Ms.

Rimer dancing with vids of masters like Carmen Amaya in order to understand the author's limitations. This looks like a self-published product no publisher is credited that was designed to be sold at Ms.

One person found this helpful. Excellent book about Flamenco with a unique approach. This a a bizarre This a a bizarre publication. There are many misspelled words, grammatical mistakes, logical inconsistencies and the photos are poorly reproduced and are just snapshots with no reason to be included.

The only part that is worth reading is the glossary at the end that the author herself didn't write. The author herself didn't write the glossary, and curiously I didn't write the review. I don't think that there are two William F. Maxwells in this small town, but perhaps I have missed something. In any case, I have not read the book, and whoever wrote the review has persuaded me not to do so, even though I find the review unpleasantly bombastic and snarly.
