Jack Ooze
Which would have been fine I guess, if the writer had realized this. The writer continued writing as if everything was still adorable, usually by flat out telling me that its supposed to be adorable Instead of actually being adorable. Though the real problem with the book was how flat thw writing was and its tendency to go on and on and lose my attention.
Its a short book to begin with, less than 8 hours long once you discount the 40 minute preview.

And if an editor had properly editted the book, it would be less than 4 hours long. If it had been written in a more normal way and properly editted then closer to 2 hours long.
But instead it went on and on about the most boring details of the day to day lives and surroundings using 10 words where one would do better. And the actual characters themselves were a bit flat.
Both shallow and underacted. Though that may have just been because they had nothing to do.

Literally the most developed character in the book was the maid. As for our slime main character. He spent most of his time acting as furniture. Gurgling or being petted once in a while just to remind us he existed. Wasn't sure what to expect when I started listening, but the story was wonderfully written. The Narration had also been well done and gave life to the characters. Ian Rodgers, explain to me exactly how you ended up making me care about a sentient puddle of jello? In all seriousness though this book is about as light hearted of a book you could get that includes things like murder plots and magical monsters.
Written from the perspective of the sentient ooze creatively named jelly it follows him as he grows and dose his best to protect his owner.

Honestly I expected at some point for there to be a divide between the two of them or a misunderstanding but the bond they forge blows those ideas out of the water and it is refreshing. The only real gripe I have is that the voice of the protagonist is a bit grating at times, but as he is just under a year old I am hoping he grows out of the exaggerated young voice thing.
Long story short, while this isn't lord of the rings or a bloodbath like a game of thrones book I cant say that I didn't enjoy the heck out of this book and cant wait to binge the next volume.

I decided pick this up to oneshot it on a long trip. The narratives are so painfully awkward. Also, I'm just going to say this and I may be wrong; when your "pet" is self aware and talking it's probably not a pet anymore. Well done on the child voice btw but it was annoying. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I really like books like this, It so much fun. Where does Chronicles of a Royal Pet: It's a very good book indeed.
Well told and very well read. Which character — as performed by Peter Kenny — was your favourite?
