Since many clips are under 20 seconds, it gets frustrating to try to coordinate all of this for what feels like a few seconds before you have to do it all over again. The layout of the book on the Kindle for iPad is poor.

In many instances, the speaker icon that you have to click is at the bottom of the page so you have an extra layer of stuff to do in order to attempt to play along: You don't get a lot of lead in time so it becomes very frustrating if you are just starting out. I've tried adjusting the text size to push the speaker to the correct page, but it just throws off other pages and the problem recurs. If you are a guitar player that wants to learn bass then this book is probably a good starting point since the foundational skills are already present but as a beginner, I've relegated this book to archive status on my device.

I am a guitar player who fills in occasionally on Bass. When I saw this book I thought it might be a good way to dust off my Bass and update my Bass playing skills. It was just what I needed. The book is well organized and moves along at a pace that keeps your interest.

The inclusion of a CD of all the lessons arranged with and without the bass line so can hear the bass part and then try it on your own with just the backing band is a great way to learn. I would recommend this book with accompanying CD to anyone just starting out or as a refresher course.
