Still Coming
Thanks to donations from high-profile artists, they managed to buy a rescue boat and head back to Greece. Search and rescue missions treat the symptoms of a broken asylum system. We were a ragtag group to start with, but on our very first mission, we managed to rescue people who were headed towards the rocks.
Help has its limits Bennett is now pursuing a Masters degree in Disaster Management at the University of Copenhagen, having met her Danish husband while working on the island. While she oversees much of the daily operation from Copenhagen, the organisation has committed land and sea crews who work around the clock on Lesvos to prevent needless deaths.

One problem they experienced early on was that smugglers were sailing over the strait and dumping the refugees and migrants along hazardous and inaccessible parts of the coast before sailing back. But the rescuers were having difficulty keeping track of where the boats were going. So they created a land-based spotting team atop the coastal cliffs in order to give them a better overview.
In one case, they managed to help the Greek Coast Guard intercept a smuggler on his way back to Turkey. To read the PDF of the latest issue, click here! Ordinarily, the rescue boat is dispatched once the spotters see a boat heading over the strait. The coast is rugged, and often the boats head towards the Greek lighthouse on Lesvos, which is located on a particularly treacherous stretch.
If they do land on rocks, Mo Chara will pick up the refugees and take them to the harbour. Similarly, if the boat capsizes, they will pull people to safety. There are limitations, however, as the rescue boat cannot enter Turkish territorial waters, or head out to assist a boat that spotters cannot see. I was getting phone calls, and information through Whatsapp groups, saying they were drowning. There to help Refugee Rescue is the only remaining search and rescue organisations to continue operating on the north coast of Lesvos.
Several fell foul of the Greek authorities and had their rights to operate revoked. So Bennett and her organisation walk a tightrope in trying to maintain a good relationship with the Coast Guard while doing as much as they can to save lives at sea. Migrants and smugglers are the same people. So we decided to put more media and legal pressure on the Coast Guard, and I eventually managed to speak to the harbour master. Something positive came out of it, and they call us up now. Once the organisation lands refugees, it helps guide them to UN assembly points where refugees and migrants are supposed to stay for twenty-four hours before being taken to the major reception centres.
Bennett says both the assembly points and reception sites are overcrowded and under-resourced, and Refugee Rescue volunteers have had to step in.
There was a lack of volunteers, so some people are helping in the kitchen and distributing clothes. Saving lives at sea is one thing. Open Preview See a Problem?

Jan 21, Paul Hollis rated it it was ok Shelves: This was one of those books that I was glad that was finally over, as it's my policy that I always finish books no matter what but this was a chore. I read this as an e-book with a page count of pages. Good editing could easily have trimmed at least a pages.
See a Problem?
As it is it feels very bloated, with too many characters and unnecessary back stories for minor ones. A thriller with very little thrills or action. It just went on and on.

- Chew Vol. 2: International Flavor.
There is an expanded version with hundred extra pages! As I said could easily have been an interesting, taut thriller with editing. I give a 2 star rating not a 1 star rating because the premise was interesting and the writing was good. May 25, Tina rated it really liked it Shelves: The story is about Shepherdton College, which has just received a mountain of mail, presumably from rejected hopefuls, which simply read "Still coming.

From the politics of admission to the benign dictatorship of the college president, Shepherdton College is muscling its way into the big leagues - a boutique school with the prestige of an Ivy. But somewhere along the way Shepherdton's exclusivity and obsession with only admitting the right sort of student angered the wrong people.
And their next step was foreshadowed by the appearance of hundreds of envelopes bearing the phrase, "Still coming. I have to say, the very idea of an army of rejected college applicants threatening to converge on the campus that refused them in the first place is terrifying. High school over-achievers do not suffer failure, it isn't hard to imagine them snapping and demanding justice.
There are many twists to the story, and not everyone is what they seem. In fact, only the college president seems to present the same face throughout the book. This is in perfect keeping with her character.

The only real quibble I have with it is the way the peeping tom story line wrapped up - it was too neat and rather anticlimactic. Since that wasn't the major plotline in the book, it wasn't an irritation - more like a wish for more. And really, that is what makes someone a good author - when they make you wish for more. Jan 30, Terry Crawford Palardy rated it it was amazing. I enjoyed this book, and found it plausible in today's technologically skilled world. A small group of techno-talented high school students rejected by the big colleges Harvard, Yale, Princeton Stanford find out why the colleges did not accept the brightest among them, and decide to retaliate, using their skills to create nerve wracking disturbances in this college town.

The characters are believable, the setting is easy to visualize, the behaviors of the adults is predictably true to form, and the climax is well worth the wait. Feb 12, Robert Bannon rated it really liked it.
I found the plot a little over-complicated and probably too many characters, but the story was interesting and current. The ending was a bit too easy, however, the book was intriguing enough for me to give Mr.
Flynn at least one more chance. I would normally have given "Still Coming" three stars but the fact that it was free on Kindle was worth at least one more star. Apr 26, Pam H rated it it was ok Shelves:
