I have read these three books at different times and I love the fact they are now all in one box set. These are the kinds of books you better start in the morning and have all day to read because you will not want to put them down. Just the last one in this series Dirty Dealings had me up late into the night trying to finish it because the story line and the characters were just embedded in me that I had to know what was going to happen.

I mean come on now who doesn't like a cartel read? If you love the dark and gritty reads then this is for sure the series for you. Bring me some more AJ, reader and fan for life!! I absolutely love these Zeta Cartel novels and eagerly await the next ones. Three interconnected stories that can be read as standalones no cliffhangers! Throw in a large helping of suspenseful thrills and action with a totally engaging, fast paced storyline, some wicked sex scenes and snippets of dark humour and you get these brilliant books that are more than just a romance, thou I absolutely love these Zeta Cartel novels and eagerly await the next ones.
Throw in a large helping of suspenseful thrills and action with a totally engaging, fast paced storyline, some wicked sex scenes and snippets of dark humour and you get these brilliant books that are more than just a romance, though there is romance aplenty. I love that the characters are a mix of South American, North American and British which creates a unique flavour and some brilliant contrasts.
AJ Adams creates a great balance of gritty darkness and satisfying emotional drama and if you like a bad boy hero who doesn't compromise his badness while falling in love, and a strong, likeable heroine then these books should hit the spot perfectly. I thoroughly recommend this collection and cannot wait for more from this author. What a fan-freaking-tastic set of 3 must read novels that will blow readers away! I was so gob-smacked, as our friends across the pond would say, by each book and right from the beginning!
The men are strong, dark and violent alpha H's who love their women. The women are feisty, survivors who make their men better people. The characters are well developed and interesting and each story has a unique plot with twists and HEA. May 07, Laz the Sailor rated it really liked it Shelves: This is an intriguing series involving women who end up involved and entwined with members of a Mexican drug cartel. I will review each book separately, as while the men are almost the same, the women are quite different. Wow what can I say about this collection without giving spoilers away strong characters and great storyline this author has written amazing stories it was great to read this on one collection definitely worth the full five Stars I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
Each book in this series offers something new and unique no story is the same as before and you wont feel like the story's are repeating themselves. I absolutely loved reading this series. Let me start by saying I don't normally read dark, violent books. I read this as a favor for a friend. The books are very well-written. They flow smoothly and have lots of twists and turns. The characters are well-developed and the story grabs your attention from the beginning.
If you like to read this genre then I suggest you give these books a try because AJ Adams is a superb author. This trilogy of novels makes for very exciting, gory, sexy reading. The Bonus is the story of drug mule Chloe, cast dramatically into the midst of the cartel after a deal goes badly wrong. Solitaire is feisty but their mutual hatred soon turns to something more passionate. As Arturo rules his cartel with an iron fist, he finds his only weakness is the woman he has claimed as his own.
He meets Natalia, a young matriarch who has her own problems keeping her unruly family in line, as well as making a success of the family pub. Other family members are involved in some very dirty dealings, and when the Mexican contingent move in, things become very bloody. This author has come a long way since her first erotic romances, under the name Storm Chase. Those are still very fine books, meticulously researched and packed with lashings of sex, as well as her trademark strong heroines, but with the Zeta Cartel series, written as AJ Adams, she has definitely upped her game.
Inside the Zeta Cartel, no-one apologises for who they are. Punishment is brutal and bloody, and passions run high. There is an emphasis on honour and loyalty, and the men are macho because God forbid they show any signs of weakness. That would weaken the cartel and bring the whole thing crashing down. With high-rolling business deals at stake, their influence is felt around the globe in all kinds of ventures. Adams has created a totally convincing and evocative world, one that is compelling to watch as each story unfolds. The main characters in each case are strong women who know how to survive, and will do almost anything to do it.
There is bloody violence, as traitors are made an example of, and grisly deaths. There is rape this is not for the faint of heart and women being treated badly. And also, there is lots of panty-wetting sex with the muscular, ruthless male lead characters. This is unashamed fantasy, but so well-written it almost seduces you into thinking that the life of a cartel woman might be quite fun. And the business deals, the way the cartel is run day to day, the descriptions of Mexico and South London are spot-on.
The prose is littered with endearing British-isms the heroines are from the UK in each case. I heard their voices in my head as they had been drawn so well. The editing could have been crisper in places, especially in Songbird, where the writing good as it was somewhat outweighed the plot. I found myself skimming in a couple of places, but then rereading, which I hate doing. In The Bonus, the sex was smokin. Overall, a class act from start to finish. Great trio of books!
This was a dark, but oddly hopeful book. Chloe was put through the wringer, but managed to not only survive but thrive once she won the heart of the character described in another book as Lucifer. AJ Adams has a fantastic way of letting me root for the "bad guys" - even though there is a lot of dark things that happen, including dark acts perpetrated by the "heroes," I still want them to win by the end of the book.
And they do - without being "reformed. Not to say I would want to know them or try to survive in their world - I'd probably be a goner in seconds - but reading about them is a treat. And oddly hopeful by the end. This was a fantastic book. Kept me guessing all the way to the end. I had some things figured out, but I certainly didn't see the whole picture until right up until the gritty, exciting end. That's not to say that there was an unrealistic twist at the end, either.
I could look back and see how almost everything was possible.

I didn't especially like Solitaire and Arturo - mean, they are hard people, and I would HATE to try to survive in their world - but I totally respected their characters, and loved the way their characters were drawn. They are sharp, witty, street smart and crime smart people, and I felt their relationship grew in a believable arc.
As well, the challenges they faced were well timed, and kept the suspense high and the plot moving right along. I can't say more without dropping spoilers, and believe me, you don't want this story to be spoiled. I love all of AJ's books, but this might possibly be my favorite. I think this is the best A. Dirty Dealings is hard to put down.
Los Zetas Cartel Collection
It had me ramped up from nearly the beginning, totally invested in Natalia and her family, and reconciling her life with the Zeta cartel. Adams got the balance of action to backstory just right in the beginning--wheeled me right into it without losing me to any drawn out explanations about things in the past. This book just kept steamrolling forward, very rarely letting up in intensity. I love how strong Natalia is. She's not someone I'd want to cross. I also love Quique for being a badass with a heart of gold.
That Zeta cartel, they're some hardened criminals, but they do have a code that makes me want to root for them. This book is dark with graphic violence, chaos and mayhem. There are a few "fully depicted love scenes" but sex is definitely not the purpose of this novel. I totally recommend it to anyone who can stomach heroes who don't flinch at violence, killing, and deceit to protect their loved ones--and the story in these pages is built well enough that I found myself in total agreement with everything the protagonists did to make the situation right. Fair to note that there is a lot of slang in this book, but if you are paying attention, the context will tell you what the words mean.
Chloe was your run of the mill mule. She carried anything from drugs to expensive art for the best of them. One bad choice found her knocking at death's door for the umpteenth time. This time though there was a break and she made a run for it He took her as his "bonus" for what he'd done for his half brother Arturo. But something was different about this woman. Could he have feelings for her? Is there more to her once you peel away the horrors she's endur The Bonus: Is there more to her once you peel away the horrors she's endured over the years?
What happens when her past shows up?
Can he sit back and watch? What is he feeling for her? Loved the characters and their story of basically healing each other. Chloe is one strong willed woman. Lots of action, little bit of sassy and lots of death! He protects his family Great start to the boxed set. However, the book lacks a clear structure - within each chapter, it is quite hard to follow what is going on, and events or people are often invoked without a clear context.
A more considered structure or lay out would have helped convey the wealth of information that this book contains, it is otherwise a jumble of paragraphs with interesting anecdotes. More precise academic discipline would have gone a long way. Seth Ferranti- Gorilla Convict Publications.
A very thorough and well investigated book. I enjoyed it but I found it a little academic for my tastes, still there isn't much info out there on Los Zetas, book wise, so I am glad I read it. I just felt that the writers could have made the book more entertaining. I felt like I was reading a government report or something from an academic journal. Maybe it is just my personal preference but I plan to check out more work by these authors.
The climate in Mexico is violent as can be and this book lays out how all the major players move and shows how the Zetas came into formation and became the power players that they are today. Although I do believe that they have taken some hits to their ranks since this book was published. But the information provided appears to be very accurate and well researched and I applaud the authors for their efforts in preparing this much needed manuscript, I just feel it could have been written in a more story like fashion to better show what is going on in Mexico with Los Zetas today.
Seth Ferranti, author of The Supreme Team: One person found this helpful. This book is very informative and as current as Jan You can tell that it was written most likely in a different language and translated and it reads like a College Theseus. I really enjoyed reading it and have already refered it to several friends.
Failed to live up to expectations. Although the book was an intersting read I found it hard to keep up with all of the events and the order in which they happened. It seemed to me as though the author had no real idea of time line nor story line. It jumped from one topic and time line to another within the same chapter at times and began to be somewhat repetative toward the end, covering issues and statistics that had already been covered in previous chapters.
The Zetas are a particularly nasty group of anti-moral militant agents. Logan nails them, through factual narrative. They make Islamist Terrorists look like choir boys by comparison. But watch out, you Zetas, the Alphas are coming after you!!! This book provides a great insight into the notorious gang. Gives you a better understanding of the mind set of these crazy individuals.
Very detailed and through description of the tactics of terror Los Zetas use to subdue their opponents and innocent people of Mexico and Central America. It took a brave man to write this book.
