Book 5 Kara and Friends Save Tommy the Dolphin (Part 5 of the Karas Adventure Series)

Happiness is what runs us every day. Scenery is a very important part of this book, it expresses how different people interpret different things. If some body goes to the ocean they may see strong sea currents of blue, if somebody who lives by the ocean looks out side they may sea a place of exploration and real beauty. The moral of this is, don't judge others because they are different we all see thing in different perspectives. From the first page I was drawn into the narration of Kara, a frustrated middle school student: The story begin as Kara throws a bible at Jake and breaks his nose.

Jake is the last person she should be offending, as his father owns the largest fishing company in town and controls the fate of her entire family, the entire town, and maybe even the ocean reefs surrounding them. Kara's anger is authentic and she is a realistic, complex character.

This page-turner was fast-paced and full of nuanced family relationships, friendships, enemies, and important modern issues. A combination mystery, family drama, classic bully story, and tale of friendship with environmental activism mixed in. The addition of a handicap teen new to town adds another layer to the story that deepens the plot, the theme, and Kara's self-discovery. When a rare albino dolphin is discovered stranded on the beach, the action intensifies. Maybe Kara's missing mother isn't really gone forever. A story of friendship, family, bravery, finding your voice, inner strength, and working together.

Prices for the book range from six dollars to 15 dollars depending on if you want a hardcover or paperback. White Dolphin is a a easy read and consists of pages. It the placed near the ocean and is a lot about marine animals and saving the entire ocean from pretty much going extinct. This book is first of its kind and is one of five books from Gill Lewis.

Not many teen book are like White Dolphin, because most teens want thrill and suspense or romance, but White dolphin is one book that allows teens to see the ocean for what it really is after reading. Kara finds a dolphin that she has seen in the bay before and she calls it the White Dolphin. Throughout the story Kara and Felix have to work together the save the ocean from being dredged. Kara is on a mission to save the ocean while also trying to discover the secrets about her mother and the day she left. The story has some suspense and thrill, but is based on the relationship a girl has with the ocean.

This book showed me that this is a serious issue with trying to save the ocean because I know from experience that the ocean is in deep trouble if people keep destroying. The book caught my attention every time I read it and there was never a boring moment because the book had great transitions and a plot that kept me on the edge of my seat. The book was suspenseful towards the end when the storm hit and people were in danger and when Kara was trying to save the white dolphin. I liked Kara because she reminded me of myself with believing that nothing is impossible and there is always another way to fix a problem.

Felix was another character I liked because the way Kara impacted his life and made him open his eyes and love the ocean as much as Kara did and he changed his life around. Instead of playing on the computer in a dark room all day he got out of his comfort zone and took up sailing which is a powerful thing for people to do.

White Dolphin is a very in depth book about the life of the ocean and the people who want to save it. Gill Lewis was trying to create feelings in the readers to hopefully persuade them to take care of the beautiful ocean and somehow save it from the world and try to show people the true beauty behind the ocean and she accomplished that with me for sure. I enjoyed this book very much and hope that other teenagers will read the book and have the similar feelings like I did. Nov 02, Caitlin rated it it was amazing.

I really liked this book because it has an amazing story inside of it, I loved how they rescued the dolphin and did anything they could to help it survive. I did not like the part where Kara and Felix went to Moana and Jake was just sitting there mocking her because her dad had sold the boat to Dougie Evans, he just sat there with a smirk while she was upset.

My favorite character was Daisy, she was so innocent and she just wanted the dolphin to survive. She was always supportive of Kara and whatever she did. I like this quote because it is the truth, completely. My least favorite character was Jake, he was always so rude to Kara even when she was trying to do something right.

I also rated this 4 not 5 stars, because this is a very sad but heartwarming story that was a little too emotional for me. When I first started reading this book, I wasn't sure how I felt about it. After reading for a decent amount of time I really started to enjoy it. Kara is a girl who doesn't know where her mom is and is living with her dad in her Aunt and Uncle's house. She and this boy, Jake are enemies if you will. Felix Underwood and his dad are interested in buying the Moana, Kara and her dad's boat.

It's a sailing boat that Kara used to race in the Regatta race each year. The deal doesn't go through, but th When I first started reading this book, I wasn't sure how I felt about it. The deal doesn't go through, but then Dougie Evens, Jake's dad, buys the Moana. Kara finds this injured white dolphin and does everything in her power to help save this dolphin and the reef. My least favorite part was when Dougie Evans and other fisherman were destroying the reef. But they are up against powerful people who don't want them to succeed. It is set in a fishing village in Cornwall and a lot of the action takes place on the beach, the cliffs or in the harbour. Many of the people in the community depend on the sea to earn a living. Kara had had enough, she threw the Bible at Jake's nose. She saw her teacher,Mrs. She asked if she had seen her Dad. As much as Kara wanted to leave she couldn't because Dougie Evans's vehicle was parked in the driveway. He asked of Kara and where she was. Dougie answered angrily saying she had broken Jake's nose. Aunt Bev told him again that Kara was at school, but her lie wasn't good enough.

Daisy mouthed the word "go" to Kara. She saw Dougie looking through the window, but she thought to herself that nobody could stop her now. Kara jumped off the boat and swam to the cove. After sitting there for a few minutes she saw a flash of white. Then she saw it again, and again. It was the White Dolphin, a sign that Mum's still out there.

Kara's Dad doesn't believe her but Kara ignores what he thinks of that. Kara began walking home and a vehicle pulled up beside her and the passenger window rolled down, it was Aunt Bev. She told Kara to get in so she did. Kara was wishing now that she would've took the fields home. Aunt Bev told Kara her Dad was worried sick about her.

Kara's Dad came home later that night and hugged her so much. Later in the book Kara hears of a huge great white shark that Dougie Evans has caught. When she figures out where it is Chloe tries to pull her back and is in tears. She told Kara not to look but she did anyway. Once Kara got up to the front she saw a grey dolphin in a fishing net.

Angel the white dolphin's, mother was dead. Kara ran and ran until she had gotten home. Angel had already been held in captivity before because she had been caught in a fishing net now her mother has been killed by Dougie Evans. Even later they hold an event to stop the dredging ban from being lifted.

They ended up getting more than people to sign it in less than 2 hours. They got their wish.

The dredging ban stays. Towards the end Jake and Ethan are saved by Kara and Felix because Dougie bought Moana and the boys decided to sail her when a storm was coming in. When Jake fell out of the boat Kara went to pull him up and thought she saw a flash of white but ignored it at the time. They both returned safely and now Kara and her Dad are living in a trailer with an ocean view and are as happy as can be. Pretty good, as simple children's books go. It was an easy read, a good story, and it has nice morals.

The worst part is that there is another family involved that is rich. Oh wait i seem to have forgotten to mention that said rich family is tearing appart the reef and killing wildlife in the process.
