I love how balanced and full of feelings Ms. The plot was intense, maybe predictable but really intense. The characters were developed in a balanced way. Their connection was more than intense! It was like a slow burn, a dance…. And the secondary characters were interesting to meet! The end of the book was the only way possible in my eyes. I need to point out that this book is not for everyone but everyone will feel the strong emotions of the heroes!

Once again Annabel Joseph tests our limits. The book isn't for the faint of heart. We are brought into a BDSM world that doesn't have safe words. It's based on non-consent consent and I was a bit terrified while reading. Fort needs something darker. He looks his submissive or partners to give up all control, play with no safe words and no escape from his torment. Juliet stumbles into his world and is willing to play by his rules. Besides his rules of no safe words, Fort makes it known that he's Once again Annabel Joseph tests our limits.

Besides his rules of no safe words, Fort makes it known that he's not looking for a relationship or to fall in love. Juliet is stronger than she realizes and the trust that Fort has earned quickly turns to love. I, like Juliet, was in a conundrum. I wasn't sure if I wanted Fort to continue or stop his torture. I was fascinated with their power exchange. Juliet ended up being stronger than I would have been given the situation Fort put her in. She endured Fort and his level of play and knew her worth.

Despite Fort's persistence that he won't fall in love or be in a relationship the pair found trust along with love. After a lapse in judgment Fort realized his error and Juliet is willing to try again. We're introduced to a few of Fort's friends who are equally as demanding and charming. I can't wait to see what's in store with the rest of the series.

The cover is intriguing and the synopsis peeked my interest, but I didn't like it as much as I was hoping I would. Yes the intense moments with them were great, the author is amazing at making you feel front and center. She wrote intriguing characters that I did like.

I rated this 3 stars, its a good book but it just wasn't one that spoke to me and nor did it warrant me to shelve it in my favorites. If you like BDSM then you will appreciate this author because she keeps things real and authentic. Just personally wasn't my favorite, but don't let that sway you. Jan 28, Rin W. I did enjoy reading it, and Goodluck was probably the highlight with his artistic rambling and comedic value. I just wanted to be a little more invested in their relationship than I found myself at the final page. This is dark in the perverbial desires Fort has to inflict pain, and how Juliet comes to crave it. Along the way, the arrangement they have alters, much to Fort's dismay. I won't say that where things go is not predictable, because it really is. But that predictable storyline of the Dom not understanding or wanting to have actual feelings for his sub is done beautifully. I love that because Joseph shows Juliet as a force of nature. She's not going to put up with poor treatment so when that does happen, she stands her ground and she's out.

She's a strong and wonderfully written woman first, sub second. Fort, on the other hand is the typical Dom who doesn't want a relationship, only a sub. He's lived this way for a while. I loved him for it. He is very clear and makes sure at all opportunities that he and Juliet are on the same page with regards to their relationship. Poor Alpha Male just doens't know what hits him though, and that was a fun ride to be on. I do however wish the story delved a little bit more into Fort's history and back story.

I feel like ther is more to him than we are given. The BDSM emements in the book are written beautifuly. The issue of consensual non consent is something that's not treated lightly. The amount of trust needed on both sides is clearly laid forth. I love how Joseph does this as well.

It's hard core at it's most giving. Dark Control also introduces some very interesting side characters in the form of Fort's friends. I look forward to the series continuing so I can get to know them better, find out what makes them tick. Recommended for any Annabel Joseph fan, and anyone looking for a walk on the wild side.
