Fairy Tales are like my whole life so you can imagine why I liked this book. The only thing is, it gets a little bogged down in the middle, and to my great disappointment, it does not contain The Little Mermaid.

Their work on this collection is deserving of careful reading, and a pleasure when the translation is done with a master hand. The Brothers Grimm helped build the platform of our current-day mindset, so to go back and read a keen translation of their work is fascinating and instructive. It's a big thick book.

Fasinating, The Grims Stories childrens version with beautiful illustrations were bed time stories. This book has all of those and more. The early years were the unsanitized, but as the Victorian period matured the stories became more like today's stories.

I've always loved fairy tales, even as an adult. This new addition of these classic tales is very readable. I have another copy of the complete Grimm fairy tales by another translator and have enjoyed compairing the texts. Each is true to the sense of the story, but, of course, being a translation, each translator uses his expertise in the actual wording.

This is a very good edition. If you are looking for a good, readable copy of the brothers Grimm, this is a keeper. One person found this helpful.

Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. No one has ever translated them before. So yes, this is expensive for a Kindle book.
