Written well-enough to be interesting to those of us who followed the Royals in the 80's. He didn't shrink from how the franchise hurt him, but I wish it went deeper into motives and what was going on behind the scene. Probably the whole story will never be known. But interesting reading about Mr.

But the insight he offers into the Royals -- from the glory years to the present day -- is invaluable for most baseball fans and any KC fan should be interested. More important, however, is the recounting of his early years, facing the challenges and the pressures that he did.

Books by Frank White. Trivia About One Man's Dream: No trivia or quizzes yet. Three main issues I have: Would have rather seen him go into detail on those and other stories just like he did with all of those great Yankee playoff games.

The most enjoyable teaching method for the basics of baseball that I've ever found. White's unique voice emphasizes the important things in baseball just as a great teacher would. I was in junior high when baseball captured my interest.

Frank White was poetry in motion at second base with the Kansas City Royals. His fundamental knowledge of the mental aspects of the game helped him make impossible plays on speedy astroturf look easy.

The Royals retired his jersey number 20 for good reason. However, I gave it four stars instead of five because I am disappointed that Frank can't seem to let go of his grudge against the management for not giving him a shot at the Manager's job, which by the way, I think he would have been a great manager of the Royals. Let it go Frank, life is too short!

I've known Frank for a number of years thru our media contacts, community projects, and more lately as "just Frank. Not to mention a Hell of a ballplayer and Coach. This book goes into just enough of his background to make what happened to him at the hands of the organization he bled blue for seem all the more unfair and even, as a Royals fan since I can remember, embarassing.

While that isn't his intent, he tells the truth, and isn't under any constraints to do anything else. The book gives Royals fans, and just baseball fans in general, a look inside the "business" end of what we enjoy as a "game. Frank White was one of baseball's great second basemen. Great story of his career with the K.

Enjoyed the book, but I believe it would have been a better read had it been edited a bit more carefully. Frank does have much reason to feel hurt by the treatment of the Royals upper management, but better editing would have rewritten some of the "poor me" repitition which fills much of the book. That said, Frank White is one of my all-time favorite Royals players - and one of those people who you just have to respect as a great human being.
