Les embûches de noël (French Edition)

He stupid husband was eaten by crocodiles, she makes enough to live on because of her brother in laws intervention, her oldest daughter is the absolute worst and in the end she's still thanking her. I kinda wanted her to freak out on the lot of them. The idea that her best friend is Queen Elizabeth's bastard daughter is On major pet peeve- none of the kids are written in a way that sounds their age. They all skew too old or too young. I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would! After finishing The Strange Bird, I felt I needed something very simple that I did not have huge expectations of and that was completely different from what I had just read, enter The Yellow Eyes of Crocodiles.

It had one of the key things I need to enjoy a novel, a main character that I could really get behind. Our lead character, Josephine, is someone I would like to hang out with in real life, she would be interesting to talk to and a good frie I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would! Our lead character, Josephine, is someone I would like to hang out with in real life, she would be interesting to talk to and a good friend. You want her to succeed, to stand up for herself and to realize her own self worth throughout the story and you equally want to see those who have mistreated her to get their comeuppance.

Very little is in a grey area, though there is some and it adds a nice texture, that makes it a lovely, uncomplicated but interesting read. This novel, set in Paris, features two sisters, one an academic specializing in Medieval French history, and the other a rich socialite. When the rich socialite gets a contract to write a romance novel set in Medieval France, she asks her sister to write the draft. Her sister will receive all of the royalties, provided the socialite sister can put her name on it.

However, the book becomes a runaway bestseller, setting the stage for unexpected conflict. The story had a nice idea, but there were too many minor characters who were unlikable and uninteresting, and they took up more than half of the book.

This is a surprising book.

What is not typical is that they live in Paris, she is a medieval scholar, and her husband runs off to Africa with her manicurist and their money to run a crocodile farm. Iris convinces Jo to ghost-write a book for Iris, so Iris can at least appear to be doing something worthwhile.

Not a perfect book, but really enjoyable. FYI — there is a film French. Una estrella porque la historia tuvo algunos giros que no me esperaba y me parecieron originales. Otra porque el crecimiento de Josephine fue enorme a lo largo del libro. Quite easy to follow even though my French is pretty basic. I read the book while listening to the audible. Her reading is expressive and entertaining. Although it is classified as Chick-Lit, I feel like I am a manly-man and I found it to be an entertaining look in the complicated lives of a fictitious French family, and a fun read in French!

Sure it isn't the most complex, intellectual story you'll ever take into your hands — but it's not meant to be. It's a light narration of a story that could potentially have been dark, heart-breaking, and everything else that certain litmajor types around here seem to like. Everyone needs a fairytale from time to time, and this is it. Ojala yo hubiese sido capaz de escribir una novela. Entertaining, easy reading for a hot summer day in the sun. The end gives me the impression that the author has ran out of ideas and did not know how to end the book well, which was a bit disappointing.

Some of the characters lack any depth and were not truly believable, like Henriette. Still, I had fun reading this book and do not regret having done so. An enjoyable read with not a word misplaced -- nicely translated and edited. The French, white, bourgeois characters are straight out of a movie but nonetheless engaging. Money isn't everything and not every entrepreneur is a world-shaker; depth of character wins out in the end.

En general me ha gustado el libro, pero reconozco que hay partes que se me han hecho pesadas. A decent beach read.

A bit slow at the beginning. When reading the other two books I found them quite predictable, especially the last one. Katherine Pancol moved from Casablanca to France when she was five. She studied literature and initially became a French and Latin teacher, before turning to journalism.

Please send Isaak many wishes from us. We really enjoyed our gorilla trek and saw 4 babies! This was truly the highlight of our trip. However, our real surprise was the Ugandan people. Everyone we met was very helpful and kind. And clearly, Ugandan children are the happiest in the world. Our guide, Nasser, was excellent and he went out of his way to make sure we were happy. We especially enjoyed eating at Ugandan restaurants.

As for yourself, thank you very much for all your help during the booking process and setting up our safari. Your kindness and patience with all our questions was much appreciated. Now for us, its back to work, but we're thinking seriously of returning and seeing more of Uganda. So don't be surprised if you hear from us again, as we'd really like to visit Mgahinga and the Rwenzoris!
