After about ten pages I realized I wouldn't need the bookmark tabs; the book consists of nothing but page after page of gorgeous jewelry I'm capable of making and that I would be proud to wear.

I especially appreciated the authors' alphabetical project listing of their sources of supply for each piece. I feel like part of the "In" crowd, having purchased components from at least half of the artists listed in that section. Previous reviewers have said it all. Fans of arty, funky wearable art will love "Bohemian-Inspired Jewelry".
I wish I could give it more stars! Dec 05, Reforming rated it really liked it. Really like this book. Interesting projects with unusual components. Includes information on how to care for silk ribbon and other items used. Not your usual beadwork book.

I was able to glean some inspiration from the projects, which is what I feel a decent jewelry book should do - inspire. I do know that jewelry is very dependent on a person's taste, so perhaps others will maybe love every single project. To me, this book is so-so. What I found lacking are good instructions. Put another way, if you are a visual learner, especially a beginner, you may have trouble making certain designs.
Many will have to search further for the "how-to". I also thought the "ingredients " for many designs were too specific with no alternatives given. Pictures of the components would have been great.

For example, what is a diamond filigree trellis? On the plus side, they cover different materials to use very thoroughly--all the different kinds of fibers--ribbons, lace, leather, cording I pick up a lot of jewelry technique books and I always sit down and skim through them when they first arrive.
Usually I will find one or two project that I like and a bunch that would be far to expensive to make or need supplies that are too hard to find. Also I tend find a lot of repetition in the projects between different books. I was utterly delighted to find that wasn't the case with this one. The projects that are contained within are totally unique with easy to locate supplies.
And what makes it even better is how inspirational all of the projects are. As I sit down to go through it, I find myself jotting notes about how I can use this technique combined with ones I already know to come up with a totally unique piece of jewelry. I could continue to rave on about this book but the best piece of advice I can give is that if you are going to pick up only one design book this year then be sure to grab this one. This book is a knockout. It's the first in awhile that I've bought that has designs I've never even seen, or imagined, before. Great mixtures of media and new and exciting color mixes.
What I really love is that the magic is made from readily purchased beads and findings except for just a few. That's better than the last book I got that had great stuff, but dependant on looking up tons of obscure resources some out of business! So this is an exceptional book, and it doesn't just offer beautiful designs but sets you on a different mindset, to mix things up a bit, and create even more unusual art on your own.
The only thing I would say is that it is a bit short on instructions at least, they aren't shown with diagrams or pictures. Lots of pictures of finished products and text instructions are the core, which is fine with me as I know what I'm doing.
But for a newbie, this may be a little bit frustrating at first don't give up though! The photos themselves are superior, and you can see a lot of love and knowledge went into this. That says something, because I've seen some jewelry instruction books where, if you look close, the solder shows or a jump ring is barely closed.
