Hold on now don't forget harlequins are also merles just with a special white out modifying gene, even show breeders breed harlequin to merle and harlequin to harlequin is common practice since the best pup in a harlequin litter may not be a show color so many show breeders opt to risk getting an all white pup when they breed two harlequins which do produce double merles, of course the best pairing is a mantle who carries for the harl gene or black who carries the harl gene highest amount of harlequin pups without getting all whites and mantle which is a shoe color.
