The Partner

This book is one of the most disjointed books I have read in a long time. The subject matter is boring and pulls in a lot of directions. The dialogue is childish and silly. It seems to me that the author was forced to write a story on a deadline and she produced one in a hurry in draft form without reviewing it. The storyline is simplistic and does not at all match the sophistication of her other novels. I have read all her novels and was very disappointed in this one. In the past few of her novels I have seen a decline in the depth of the storyline and her character description, but not to this level.

I was not totally pleased with her later novels, but could finish them and could say that I enjoyed them. I learned something from them with respect to forensic science. Not "Isle of Dogs". It is a silly collection of disjointed chapters. I would not recommend this book to anyone and am sorry I bought it. Especially the hard-cover edition was a waste of money. The Testament by John Grisham

Patricia Cornwall has gone funny. The first time we listened to this book on CD my husband had to pull off the road we were laughing so much. Great characters and the setting of a small island off the VA coast is easy to see in your mind's eye. Definitely not horror genre. I highly recommend this book. I have read it and listened to it on CD. If you have a choice go for the CD. Audio Cassette Verified Purchase. Yes I'm a Kate Scarpetta fan though those books are going downhill , but I loved Southern Cross , nearly went off the road laughing a few times from the audio book.

So I was expecting the best from Isle of Dogs. I got the worst, and so will you.

Brazilian Butt Lift Challenge ♥ The Perfect Butt Workout

The plot is a second-rate ripoff of Southern Cross - the sweet innocent adolescent in the company of young hoods, Judy and Andy chasing them, etc. But it stretches the most elastic of poetic licenses. Just what is Trooper Truth and why is he on the internet with Hammer's understanding? Publishing all those long-winded and pointless essays that for some reason have all Virginia going wild? I will give you this - the skeleton at Jamestown with the bullet in his knee is real, was on PBS last night Didn't he ever hear of libel?

The Tangier islanders are dull and poorly delineated beyond belief. One expects a showdown at a Nascar race with all the weak plotlines snarling together, but we're not even given this. Second-rate Cornwell, fourth rate Hiassen. Save your money on this one.

I have read most of Patricia Cornwell's books and liked, no make that loved, all of them What a disappointment from an author with so much technical expertise in forensics and insider knowledge of the intricate workings of a large police force. Neither of which were explored in this book.

At first I found the constant misunderstandings of one character by another humorous, then they became overused and annoying. Perhaps this was Ms. Cornwell's way of straying into the world of humor, my advice, stick with what you are good at, your readers like what you write, and you have a loyal following.

I would liked to have seen more details regarding the Unique character and what lurked behind the "Nazi" references as her motive for killing. I look forward to Ms. Hopefully I will see the development of an interesting story, complete with fabulous characters exploring the darker side of humanity, rather than just trying to finish the book to make sure the bad guys get their just rewards, and wondering when the darn thing will end. A disappointed, but still loyal fan. Mass Market Paperback Verified Purchase. I see that I'm in the minority here, but I really love this book! The story is so cleverly detailed, with several storylines going, there's always something happening.

The oddest parts are the Trooper Truth essays though The audio version of this is really great, the reader does a fantastic job of voicing these characters. The adventures of the characters are frequently hilarious and I think that Cornwell shows a tremendous gift for creating such a diverse group of characters. One person found this helpful. The reviews calling this book a "dark comedy" aside, I felt embarrased for Particia Cornwell. This pioneer animated feature-length film tells seven different amazon legends, connected by a native-brazilian boy called Curumi.

The routine of an inept apprentice gravedigger changes when a new employee arrives at the cemetery. Together they must locate abandoned graves, but strange events make them think about the implications of tampering with the dead. Irene has only a few days to surpass the anxiety and discover a new strength before sending her eldest son away to the world. The two women develop a strong bond, but a fateful night changes their plans. Given how weird this film is, I'm a bit surprised that there's no review about "Good Manners" yet. Horror titles usually get a good deal of attention but perhaps this is an indicator of just how unique this one is.

The Testament

The story seems straightforward enough at first: Impoverished Lesbian black nurse Clara gets hired by affluent yet unemployed white pregnant Ana - this in spite of giving her landlady as her only reference, who promptly tells her she's being owed rent. However, Clara's touch calms down the kicking baby, so Ana instinctively hires her - and soon their relationship gets very close. However, Ana's behavior becomes increasingly erratic as her pregnancy advances, culminating in Yup, it's a musical, too.

I've seen a lot of genre movies and it's the rarest of the rare when one of the formulas is injected with something new. Horror often serves as social parables for the exclusion of the different, but here, you will find yourselves drowned in references and allusions, from queer bashing over solitary motherhood to race issues. There's so much to handle that it might be best to not try and process it all, and just abandon oneself to the beautiful weirdness of this film.

Of course, a limited budget limits the scare of the CGI, you got to be open-minded about that. The script should have been tighter as it takes enormous leaps and then slows down.
