According to author Alva, the inspiration for writing Dragon Stone Saga series resulted from her love for age-old fantasy characters including dragons, malicious emperors, magicians, and pixies. This prompted Alva to make a fictitious world wherein the said characters co existed.

Vosper's Revenge

Alva opined that the synthesized characters would appeal to both teenagers and adults. However, Alva has since developed the trilogy due to demand; and there are about nine books in the said series and an omnibus too. The title of the book doubles up as the title of the series. This book is shelved under the fantasy magic books , young adult, and fiction genres. Elias Dorgumir is the featured main character in the Dragon Stone Saga series. Meet protagonist Elias Dorgumir: Dorgumir, who has magical powers, was orphaned while still young after his parents perished in a war.

As such, his grandmother, named Carina, took Dorgumir in and reared him; the two are domiciled in a small town in a kingdom whereby a paranoiac emperor rules with an iron fist. The grandmother, who was a healer and past master at using herbs, passed on her knowledge to Dorgumir to help the boy survive disasters. By and by, his grandmother and guardian dies; sadly, Dorgumir has a hand in her death, albeit unintentionally. Dorgumir seals his fate when decides to sell the stone but a prospective buyer gets cold feet and states that it is cursed.

News of the stone attracts the wrath of the emperor, named Emperor Vosper. Several of her books have featured in the first slot of bestseller listings of both Amazon Australia and Amazon UK. The first is called Dragon Stones. This has already been discussed in a previous section. The second is titled Return of the Dragon Riders.

This is the second book in the Dragon Stone Saga series; it has six editions of which the first one was first published in September Emperor Vosper is angling for conquering a whole continent, including a rebel-held town that is a safe haven for dragon riders. According to an old prophesy, Dorgumir will tip the balance and the emperor is doing all he can to nab the teenager while the dragon riders are striving to shield Dorgumir.

The dragon riders, who have been vanquished by Emperor Vosper and have since dispersed, are angling for standing up against Emperor Vosper before the latter annihilates them. This is an epic saga and revolves around vengeful and courageous heroes standing up against oppressive Romans. The second is is titled Song of Dragons; this trilogy is written by Daniel Arenson. It talks about ancient people who could transmogrify into dragons but were nearly hunted down to extinction.

The few that were left behind are contemplating flying once more. The third is named The Nature of Grace series, a trilogy penned by S. I really enjoyed the strengthening bond between Elias and his dragon, Nydiered. Their story is sweet and warms the heart. The Dragon Riders are definitely my favorite characters in this series.

I do have to point out the very end of the book seemed a bit rushed. I would have enjoyed a more detailed account of the after effect of the war, as well as what happened to the characters. However, the book was still a wonderful conclusion to the series and even gives leeway to Alva's upcoming series, Chronicles of Tallin! I look forward to reading more of her work in the future! I have had the pleasure of reviewing all three books in this series and the page-turning drama continues through the very end of the series.

There is continued drama, suspense, mystery, intrigue, and magic in this masterful conclusion. There are still dragons, battles, elves, dragon riders, and opposing forces also.

The opposition is stronger in this book, but so are the dragon riders! Elias, the young new dragon rider, has grown physically and has improved his magic skills during the last year and surprises many around him with those changes. Although there is plenty of action, Ms. There is never a dull moment as this series wraps up things left unsolved in the other books and also quietly hints at something else to draw the reader into the upcoming series.

Publication Order of Dragon Stone Trilogy Books

I can honestly say this has been the most enjoyable, entertaining, and page-turning set of books I have read in a long time, even though it made me cry unexpectedly, and I look forward to future books by Ms. A little rushed at the end, but somewhat engaging. It pulled me right in from the beginning, and by the end I wanted to strangle a few people and I want the ability to heal too!

Definitely moving onto the next book straight away! Mar 10, Dave Neuendorf rated it liked it Shelves: The author doesn't seem to have improved her writing quality since the first book. The good ending relied on a surprise power of one of the characters, that hadn't been hinted at before; not a good plotting technique. There's no romance at all, which I consider almost a requirement for a good fantasy.

I'm going to stop at three books in this series. Dec 09, Oh My Bookness rated it really liked it. Each book in this world full of magic, dragons, sorcery, and adventure have all been a treat to read. Who doesn't like dragons? Especially in a war. Who do you think will come out in top?

To add to the field of chaos in this entertaining tale, there are elves, dwarves and orcs, who of course don't get along. Elias finally gets to learn about his dragon as well as to continue his learning about magic and spells.

Vosper's Revenge(Dragon Stone Saga, #3) by Kristian Alva

This book is great for young middle grade readers as well as high school. This book is also good for anyone who enjoys the world of fantasy, magic, action, adventure, and war. As the book progresses we come across a evil villain who wants to take over the world a story as old as time but when spun right it doesn't seem over spun or old at all. With a good adventure comes a learning experience. Kristian Alva brings it into this reading that brings your imagination to its fullest.

It teaches the reader about teamwork and that sometimes you have to be the bigger person in order to make things right for the better good. This book has all the magic that Harry Potter can conjure up, but like him there's always others to help Elias make his destiny easier to face. I recommend anyone who dares to enter an adventure that'll suck you in to danger, and an evil king who will destroy anyone and anything that'll stand in his way. Aug 23, Laura Reading rated it really liked it.

This book starts off immediately following the second and I believe you must read this series in order to fully understand and appreciate it. There are so many clans and races and unusual names, you need to read from start to finish to get the most from it. I appreciated watching Elias grow and learn about life.

It is this growth and expanded understanding that play a role in saving his life. I enjoyed the descriptions of Nydeired, such as a bottomless pit capable of eating 50 chickens a day plus This book starts off immediately following the second and I believe you must read this series in order to fully understand and appreciate it. I enjoyed the descriptions of Nydeired, such as a bottomless pit capable of eating 50 chickens a day plus three camels a week. Elias is surprised to learn his bumbling adolescent dragon is a risk taker and thrill seeker.

I can see that drawing them both into additional troubles. Pay attention for wise life lessons as you read. This book is more deeply written in the fantasy genre than the previous two. They built the world and set the scenes for the major explosive confrontation which is the goal of this first trilogy. However, the ending is NOT the end.

I was sad to lose some well liked characters along the way. If you enjoy magic and dragons and humanoid species, if you can suspend disbelief, you can get lost in this trilogy and will want more. I did receive the trilogy in exchange for an honest review. Feb 26, Stephen rated it it was amazing. The evil Emperor and his fo As the races of Durn stand on the brink of war, the power-hungry emperor plans his conquest of the entire continent.

The evil Emperor and his forces are stronger and more wicked than ever. Their opposition to the Riders and the land of Durn comes to an action packed conclusion.

I really enjoyed the bond between Elias and his dragon, Nydiered. Loved this series and going to start the next. Would be rated higher if not for that reason. Great ending to this dragon tale! Not an expected ending but not disappointing. Can't wait for Tallin's tales. Not as good as the first two. Felt rushed, will continue with the story when the next book comes out in November. Jul 22, Kyra Dune rated it liked it. There wasn't quite as much info dumping and the story had a marginally better flow.

But I still couldn't get attached to any of the characters and the only one I even enjoyed spending time with as Tallin. Vosper is a flat villain with no clear motivation for his actions, and the good guys all kind of blend into each other. That being said, this is not an awful book. It's just not a really good one either. In the middle of the book I was starting to enjoy myself a bit, but things went downhill toward the ending.

I found myself wondering just how all these spaces provided enough open area to hold multiple dragons. Maybe that shouldn't have been a big thing, but it was enough to pull me out of the story repeatedly. I get why Parthos would be big enough for dragons, it's dragon rider central. But what about the Elder Willow, and Vosper's place? And what was with Hanko suddenly having these amazing powers not even hinted at before?

It was just too much. I'm glad I finally finished the trilogy and have no intention of continuing on with the saga. Vosper is versed in black magic. Necromancers help Vosper against the Dragons and the dragon riders. It's a desperate situation, the story continues. Read the trilogy for yourselves. I highly recommend it. Nov 15, Paulo De Sa rated it really liked it Shelves: This is the 3rd and final book of the Dragon Stone Saga, and it ends in a way that I was not expecting, it was not the hero that has saved the day but the traitor that no one has given credit.

In an overall, I have enjoyed this book, and the saga, very much and I have already see that there are other books in the series that I cannot wait to read. Jul 09, Jose J. La autora la detalla con facilidad y mucha destreza. Nov 27, Steve Motuel rated it it was amazing. I need to take my time! So this series has ended, the same characters will continue on in next trilogy. I wasn't expecting much from this given that last 2 in this trilogy have been a shoddy work but this 3rd part really set the lowest standard for the whole trilogy with the whole senseless direction taken by the characters in the story for most part.

Not to mention when the hero decides to attack the villain he can't match without any proper backup, you feel like WTF is going on! And most incredulous was the death of Vosper that had me saying WTF just happened!! And even after the epilogue, it still isn't clear what revenge did Vosper take as per the novel's title , the poor bastard died in a freaky way! Never again will I read a Kristian Alva book, these 3 were more than enough! Oct 19, Msadventure rated it liked it.
